Default Character Creator Project

I was going to release this tomorrow, but I just want to play the actual game so I'm going ahead and doing it now. I've listed the bugs I know about in the readme, so report anything else.

Get it here: http://www.geocities.com/itislateand.../CCProject.zip

(I threw it up on a geocities account I registered just now, if someone would mirror it I would be grateful)

Current version of the modification is 1.0.

Below is the readme included in the .zip file linked here.

---
Description
---

A project to incorporate all sorts of new costume pieces into the stand-alone Character Creator.

Info and link to the stand-alone Character Creator can be found in this thread: http://www.cohguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5971

This is an early version of the project and there are numerous problems with it at its current state, but it works for the most part.

---
Installation
---

1). Unzip the data folder to your stand-alone Character Creator directory.

2). Copy over the following files from your City of Heroes' piggs folder to your Character Creator's piggs folder:

texPlayersUI.pigg
texVEnemies.pigg
texEnemies.pigg
texEnemies2.pigg
texEnemies3.pigg
texEnemies4.pigg
texEnemies5.pigg

If you do not copy over these texture archives, you will get alot of blank white costume pieces though it will still load.

Also, do not copy over any of CoH's geometry archives (geom.pigg and the sort) to CC. It will crash.

---
Features
---

-Access to numerous NPC-only costume pieces
-Access to DVD Edition / PreOrder costume pieces -- chest details, capes, and helmets.
-Access to older "removed" costume pieces

---
Known Issues
---

-Huge doesn't have any of the NPC-only pieces unlocked, and Female shows some of the NPC-only costume pieces meant for Huge.
-Huge also doesn't have access to DVD/PreOrder chest details and helmets, but strangely has access to the capes.
-There are alot of costume pieces that did not carry over from the original CoH modification.
-Due to geometry version differences, some of the face textures end up skewed (a la Citadel).
-All costume pieces are "decategorized". This makes the Gloves and Boots lists very long.

---
Notes
---

-Alot of the headgear ends up in Hats.
-Most of the new pieces end up at the bottom of the list they're in.
-Do not attempt to load City of Heroes with the modified list.

---
Version History
---

1.0
-Initial release

This is not an issue for me.

As someone who was asking about this earlier and felt she was getting kind of stonewalled/belittled there.... Thank you. Thank you very much.

While you're working on this, Element, here's a request...

the stand-alone character editor has a dropdown menu with emotes at the display screen... to give us an idea what our creation looks like with a little life, I assume.

Is there any chance this list could be expanded? As it is, its sort of limited.
I mean, we don't need every emote in the game... some are very subtle or find practical use in gameplay only (such as the rock/paper/scissors and coin toss emotes) and may not be worth inclusion.

However, some of the newer ones are cool --such as kissit, walllean, and curseyou (amongst others).

This isn't a big deal, but its something I'd definitely appreciate seeing.

Oh, I see what you mean by this now.
Instead of having the list of gloves and then being able to apply patterns to it, it looks like we have a glove option for each type of glove with the pattern already applied.

Also, I noticed the pirate hook isn't displaying.

Additionally, maybe I missed it, but there seems to be no more thigh-high boot option.

There seems to be a Thigh Boot option in some of the leg options, but not all of them. Also, some of them aren't decategorized, and I can only assume I didn't refine the list through enough concatenated batch processes. I'll give that a shot before I work on any of the others. I don't know, though, I came pretty close to chopping the marker right off last time.

I also looked at how this program loads the animations, I went through all the archives and so far it looks like it lacks (Or I haven't found) a "masterfile" beyond the pre-loading done in the executable. Changing around the pre-loading didn't accomplish anything, perhaps it is obsolete code, and I am not familiar with the seqstatebits format. Then there's the additional issue of outdated geometry used. It might be a while before I figure out how to implement new animations, by adding or replacing.

I see what you mean with the Pirate Hook option, and I'm not too sure what would cause that. My first guess is an identical and unworking piece being unlocked and overwriting it, but I also assumed the current instance scope simply reads and attaches each piece's location to the address of the previous element without comparing, which is what linked lists do anyways.

Another thing that I want to make a priority with this is to see if I can get some of the included capes into being selectable, such as Statesman's cape. I wasn't able to get that working with the CoH mod I did, but with an offline program I can probably do it.

I also want to try my hand at making actual client-side mods for CoH, such as power effects, so I guess I'll switch back and forth a bit. As long as it's not server-side I'm fully willing to disclose the techniques used for it.

No, this is for the stand-alone Character Creator only. If you try to load CoH with the list, it will either crash upon startup or crash at character creation.

You can find the stand-alone Character Creator as well as instructions on getting it to run in English here: http://www.cohguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5971
