Default RP Campain starting I7

i have been working on a campain in order for a better RP community in coh/cov... at first i was going to make it between a few select SG's but i haven't heard much from them, so i thought i'd just throw the word out here and see what happens...

well, here are the rules:



the system works by using alot of in game features, the bases, the arena, and "/em dice" (i'll explain about that shortly)

but let me first tell you what you can do in this campain....

"anything."

i've basically setup a system where all your little stories and adventures can pretty much take effect in the campain if you wanted to put your plans to the test.



here's the run through:


SETUP:

-any SG/VG can enter the Campain, however each SG must be made up of 6-12 active members, (it is suggested you use a main character)


-the goal of the Villians is simple, to run their plans of villiany to take down paragon city or to make them rise above it.

-the goal of the heroes is also simple, to protect paragon city and to stop the villians from gaining control


RULES:

-i shall be acting as a GM, essentially i'll be keeping records of each Group's plans and movements during the game and i'll also be reporting information to each group about the update of their projects and any information they may discover about what's going on in the city

-any player can join in on this, but can only use one of their characters in the campain, you can still use your other characters in the events that take place, but they will not gain any of the benefits of "upgrades" which will run in this campain and will simply be treated like any other character in the game.

-Each SG/VG will be given a small profile, containing the members which are in the campain and the skills they each have (more details later)

-EAch SG/VG will have a Campain session meeting once a month where all SG's will meet their contact (heroes will speak to MR page, Villians will speak to Daggeroth) as they will discuss what has been happening and what the group is planning to do.

-each player/s that wish to preform a certain task which cannot be resolved in COH game system (example: building a doomsday weapon/scrying for villian activity) will instantly go under my own system where the player will type in "/em dice" then see what their result is.

NOTE: i may not always tell you what you need to roll in order to succeed, but a general rule of thumb is a roll of a '4' that your on the right track and a 5+ you've done a good job and probbably succeeded. (the harder the task, the higher dice roll you need)
ADDITIONAL NOTE: i may not always tell you if you succeeded in your roll pending on what your doing

-each character enlisted in the campain will get to choose a specific skill that they have specialised in, these will have a large effect in the game and will add to your dice rolls. (a list will be provided for you)
NOTE: it is possible for you to become better in certain skills than other characters, but bare in mind that this means when it comes to your skill field and you need to roll for a task, it may not always mean you pass automatically... (some task rolls could require a result higher than 6 to a maxium of 10)
ADDITIONAL NOTE: it is also possible for characters to work together and pool their skill fields to complete the task.

-characters will recieve missions every now and then from their contacts which will give them the chance to receieve more skill modifers.

-also every now and then heroes may encounter villians and will get the chance to face eachother off... sometimes even to fight over the same mission which the villians planned.
these fights could occour in a PVP zone, arena, or even eachothers bases.

EXAMPLE OF SKILL FIELDS:
lets say one character "evil dr bob" and his lackey "lab rat" both choose 'Chemistry' as their choice.
they have both been working on a virus that infects mutants, to complete the task, bob needs to roll a '6'

he types '/em dice' and gets a 4. he fails to get the formula right... but not by much, because he has a skill mod of 1 in chemistry means he can change the result of the dice by 1, so if he wanted he can change the 4 into a 3 or a 5.
so he got a 5, but it's still not quite a 6 that he needs.

the next day, his lacky assists him with his skill mod of 1 in chemistry and dr bob may now roll again, he gets a 4 again. of which would become a 4 with his +1 skill mod... but because lab rat helps him out as well, he also adds his own skill mod of +1.
so we are now looking at this: roll:4+1+1=6

now the virus is complete labrat and dr bob want to build a missile which will launch the virus into paragon city... unforunately their area of expertise of chemistry doesn't help them in this area when it comes to rocket science, so they will not be able to add their modifiers.
dr bob rolls a 3 and is unable to add anything to it because he doesn't have any skill with engineering. so he just built himself a dud missile.
looks like it's back to the drawing board for dr bob.

this is only just a taste of what you can do, of course you can get more skills when you complete certain objectives.

FAQS:

HOW DO I GET MY SG/VG IN?
speak with your leader/members and get 6 volunteers then tell me your interested

WHEN DOES IT START?
it will all commense when I7 is released.

CAN I USE A VILLIAN IN ONE VG, AND A HERO IN A SG?
to keep things easier on myself and others, i'm saying 'no' for now... you can only enroll 1 character only.
but in some circumstances, any of your 'unused' characters which are apart of a group that's participating in the campain may help out in some missions and PVP events, but they won't obtain any skill modifers.

DO WE HAVE TO ORGANISE PLANS AS A GROUP?
this is entirely up to you... are you going to leave it up to your leader to call the shots, or are you going to go behind their backs with your own plans, as i said "anything is possible" (even working with the other side )

HOW MANY PLANS/PROJECTS CAN WE RUN AT ONCE?
a nice rule of thumb is each character can only roll 1 d6 regarding a project a day, but each character could effectively have their own goal of achivement (at each meeting you'll get to make use of all the days in the current month to try and get your project underway.)

DO WE HAVE TO ROLL THE DICE WITH YOU PRESENT.
hell yes.

WHAT DAYS IS THE CAMPAIN SESSION LIKELY TO BE SCHEDUALED.
most likely when we have the monthly meeting, but it could change.

CAN WE KILL OTHER CHARACTERS?
that's kind of godmodding and somewhat 'impossible' with out the other players conscent... you maynot be able to kill other characters but you can 'defeat' them. theres just too many ways for heroes and villians to recover from battles.

HOW WILL PVP BE WORKED OUT?
it can vary from situation to situation... but in the larger battles, i'll make the setting always last man standing. (that way, anything can truly go, so it's possible that a member of the group can backstab one of their own if they wanted to.)

WILL CHARACTERS IN PVP BE ALL EQUAL LVL?
no matter how you cap them, it's never quite fair... so i'm going to be blunt and say 'no, just suck it up or find another way to take out opponant with your head'
when I7 is released, it wil give the villians some catching up to do, but everyone knows that villians slowly grow in power anyway.

HOW DO WE KEEP OUR PLANS SECRET?
very hard to do when you have players with chars in two teams... so i'll have to leave that up to you to work that out when it comes to the meetings, however if you have any really secret plans you don't want your own team to know about, you can send a in game email to your contact

UPDATE: NEW RULES AND FEATURES RELEASED:

this is just a little update of things to come, i've been running a couple of tests with some friends to see how the campain can go and so far so good.

what to expect:

*NEWS: every meeting we have could have the Result of News and events in both paragon city and rougue isles of things related to the campain, this will all be setup like a news paper article, each News section will be posted up here in COH.GURU for all to see the actions of the heroes and villian's progress in the paper, earning their name in fame.

*POWERS: powers that you have chosen and your level now have something to be used for in the campain, each power you want to use which exceeds the boundries of what can be done in COH will be put to the test, you can roll a d6+the amount of enchancement slots you have. (i'm still working on how to go about the profile of each character involed and keeping it updated.)

*SPECIAL POWERS: as good as coh is... the dev's haven't been able to give us access to all the powers known to have been created. so in the campain, if your character has X-ray vision or Dimensional control, or has a Jetcraft at his/her disposal, they can declare this as a special power at the start of the campain. each character can only have 1 special power at maxium. (also each special power needs to be clarified with me before profile is created) (each special power will be considered to have 1 enhancment slot per every 10 levels the character has achieved)

That's all the news for now, i know i haven't recieved much in the way of PM's or replies about the thread, but it's certainly getting alot of readers.
we currently have about 3-4 SG's looking to register once they clear it up with their leaders.
