Default The new PDP (Pocket-D)

What I thought was going to be a pretty 'blah' issue (for me, at least) is turning out pretty damn good.

Bold prediction: There will be a NEW hangout spot that will make the Statue of Atlas and Gemini Park ghost towns.

So I load up my old copy of Spiritshrike on Test, switch to Yuriko Anderson mode, and head over to Kings Row.

Right now, the entrances to Pocket-D are in Kings Row (shown), Talos Island, and Founder's Falls.

You get in through a truck and the animation is cool as hell

Unlike the old PDP, this version has the zone entrances clearly marked (and spoken) by NPCs.

Once inside, there's a big elevator that you can't miss that leads to the main party area.

Upstairs, the transformation is easy to see. Come around the corner and BAM! (Emeril style)

The second bar area:

Anyone recognize the bartender?

And who's that dancing in the gogo cage?

Some schmo from the Family tryin' to put the moves on a Carnie

Staredown between a Cage Associates agent and a Council. If you look out the window, you can see the truck I came in through floating through the ether.

The main dance floor

A Troll and a Skull have a spirited conversation. By the way, you'll notice the change in color. These two are on the villain side of the club (more on that later)

One of a few portals on the dance floor. They don't currently go anywhere now but rumor has it, they'll be useful at some point for portal missions.

These two are a riot! The guy's name is 'Desperate Man' and the woman is 'Turndown Girl'. He throws a bunch of pickup lines at her and she rebuffs him. It's really funny.

This is another funny one. The guy is a Freedom Corps Raver and the woman is, of course, a Knife of Artemis. He's trying (unsuccessfully) to impress her with his tales of derring-do and she's basically yawning.

And our beloved War Witch is here! She'll talk to you too. If you click on her too much, she'll say "You need that finger? Yeah? Then quit poking me!" and click on her again and she says, "You're poking me again".

There's also 4 reclamation pods here and they work (someone died and respawned right here).

The humble proprietor of the joint: DJ Zero

There will be a badge awarded for time spent dancing here. At least that's how I interpreted what he says.

Now, the details about the club. It's an interdimensional space. So heros and villains can enter and mingle with each other. The hero side's color is blue and the villain's side is red. Heroes and villains can TEAM (I teamed up with a 29 MM) but they can't trade ANYTHING (inf, enhancements, salvage, or inspirations). Right now, the upstairs bartenders on both sides sell inspirations (the lowest level ones). Villains can enter Pocket-D from Port Oakes (between the Mercy ferry and the Arena), Sharkhead (behind the Red Monkey), and St. Martial (under a power transmission tower in the northwest corner of the island).

All in all, a pretty neat place that's bound to get tons of traffic (and actually KEEP that traffic long-term, IMO).

That's just....Well that's just cool!

Agreed..as long as they make it into a useful place it will see traffic for a long time. I know many don't want this but I would kill for Hero-Villian trading.

Oh, in that last screenshot, if you look in the chat window, you can see an exchange between Desperate Guy and Turndown Girl.

This place rocks! I've always been a pretty vocal critic of the devs but I'll never deny it when they do good. And this, this is very good. A noncombat activity that both sides can enjoy at will. The location in KR makes it accessible to EVERYONE (if you can't sneak past a couple level 5ish mobs, ya got no business going IMO. I got a level 3 sonic/sonic defender there with no issues) and I'm told the villain side gets it even easier, without adding to the lag of Atlas Park or killing the quiet ambiance of Galaxy City. I just wish they'd shuffle the music or something. Currently, it plays the same track the PDP played. And I wanna drink like War Witch does (she tosses her beer mug back like a frat boy ).

Also, the NPC dialogue happens a bit too much. Standing on the dance floor under DJ Zero will have your chat window scrolling like crazy. I /bug'd it and I'd recommend anyone who logs in to Test to see for themselves to do so as well.

Yep, saw it. Really cool stuff and finally a possibility for heroes and villains to meet and RP (except making arena matches).

That is AWESOME!

Can you just team inside the club? Or run mishes, etc?

So does "Pocket-D" replace the PDP or will the PDP stay? I mainly ask because it's good transportation between IP/SC/Talos sometimes...

It replaces it. The new entries in CoH are in KR, Talos and PI (not sure about the last one). But the doors are marked on the map.
