Additional fun things:
Blender markers. Prismacolor, Tombow, and Copic all make them. I have the Prismacolor blenders myself, and they do this when used in combination with the colored pencils:
Also, pencil lengtheners are available at good art supply stores (*cough cough Art Media cough* if you happen to be in the Portland, Oregon area….), and these come in REALLY handy when your pencils get to be about 2 inches long and downright painful to hold.
.....
Questions anyone?

Awesome, Nyx! Thanks for this. Was always wondering how you did your colors.

VEEEERY nice. Good job Nyx! Didn't ever think you markered AND color penciled. Always thought it was one or the other.

Sometimes I do just one or the other, but many of my pictures are both, yes.

You're brave sharing what made your art unique. Great Tut though, gives me an excuse to dust of my old art set...

Eh, I believe it's my style, not my technique, that makes my art unique. The how-to's are fair game, as far as I'm concerned. They're free to take little bits that interest them and adapt them to suit their needs. I'll worry when people start mimicking my style of faces, or the way I draw hair, etc.
And by the way, I'm terribly curious to see if anyone does try any of this!

Nice I feel ya, I used to be very bonded with my markers and colored pencils, though I did a less "realistic" and "solid" thing and outlined given areas with a marker, then just shaded with the color pencil, not how you do it, which ultimately probably looks beter than mine Mine were cartoony! TEEHEE!
I honestly think that with your creative and artistic eye you'd have a blast on photoshop hun, have you ever gave it a shot?

I'm pretty sure I love you, Nyxie.
On the occasions where I bother to color my doodles, I always use colored pencils with the strokes going the same way and with increased pressure for shadowed surfaces or other darker areas. I never use markers because of the bleeding (and, as you pointed out, it's the cheap printer paper I usually resort to using because it's always on hand). So aside from those weird little numbers (#PCwhatever), the colored pencils part of your tutorial struck a bell with me.
Speaking of your traditional coloring technique: So you have this space pirate....
