Marvel Comics to launch first issue in April 2006

Spring 2006---Stephen King and Marvel Comics join forces to launch a ground-breaking new comic book series adapted from King’s magnum opus, The Dark Tower. King’s unparalleled storytelling power will provide old and new stories that delve into the life and times of the young Roland.

“As a lifelong fan of Marvel comic books, and as an adult reader who’s seen comics “come of age” and take their rightful place in the world of fantasy and science fiction,” says Stephen King. “I’m excited to be a part of Roland’s new incarnation.”

The series will be illustrated by Eisner-award winning artist Jae Lee.

This is only going to be good if King writes it for the life of the title. If he leaves it after 12 issues, or isn't writing it all, it'll tank and tank hard.

He isn't even fully writing them. I've also been told that Jae Lee couldn't tell a story if his life depended on it.

It took me about 15 years to finish that series, the images and story were a huge shapeing point in my artistic and esthetic viewpoints.

Its done, against what I would have thought possible he ended the saga perfectly and not just once he ended it perfectly TWICE.

Why he would press his luck and risk ruining what to some people is a work among the greats of literary experiances is beyond me.

Nearly 150 retailers across the United States will open at midnight on Tuesday (effectively 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007) so Stephen King fans can get their hands on the debut issue of this historic comic.

The English version of The Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born #1 are available to retailers around the world, but the retailer must have already ordered copies. If your local comic book dealer hasn't ordered it, your best bet may be to search out U.S. retailers that ship internationally.

The foreign translated version deals are being worked through now and when we have more information we will let you know in which languages and territories they will available.
