Seinfeld ein't half bad either!

But yeah, i heard the flick is pretty good. Never watched Firefly, so im not sure if id be able to fully appreciate it, but it might be interesting anyway.

edit: after seeing the trailer, i have to say, it looks a whole lot like the 5th Element. in other words, im definitely seeing it now.

An Awsome Movie. Comedy, Plot, Characters, Action, Special Effects, all of it was Great. Even pulled a heart string or two. Best part of all, every main character is back! Definately worth the wait. I'll comment more once people have the chance to see it.

No, you don't need to see FireFly first. While it does helps and this movie is a real treat for us Brown Coats. Plot wise the show doesn't get very far, so the movie catches you up real easy and the characters you can fully understand after first few lines. Not cause its waterdown, just cause its that darn good.

For those who don't know, Firefly is a Scifi Western from the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Fox cancelled it after 11 episodes, which was a real shame but they are now being shown on Sci Fi Fridays at Seven.

As Melt said, Go See It. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Serenity suffered from the usual Whedonisms of predictable jokes, two-dimensional villains and entire avalanches of story background that just weren't fully thought out-- the Reavers, anyone? The group dynamic was good, as is usual with The Big J. There were also a few genuinely funny moments and once or twice the dialog wasn't set on rails, so that was good too. I thoroughly enjoyed the space battle scene, but most of the mano-e-mano fight scenes seemed to be drawn out to incredible lengths in an attempt to heigten the tension-- an attempt that ultimately led to the fight scenes becoming boring. A lot of the major events in the movie seemed to be thrown in "just 'cuz", or because it would get a rise out of the fans. I think Serenity could have used some judicious editing, but I understand that the editors probably didn't have much say in the matter. What Whedon wants, Whedon gets, after all. Visually, just like the series, it was very strongly reminiscent of Blade Runner. I approve of that because hell, I love Blade Runner. Overall, it was a good movie that needed a lot of trimming before it could be great.

Trimming, really? The pacing was right on in my book, not sure where I would have trimmed that wouldn't have me saying "Huh?" The fight scenes didn't feel that long, specially in a world of matrix wire fu and Hong Kong epics, and I'd point out that the Reavers were not the villians, but the boogie man monsters created by the villians.

9, maybe 9.2 and I've never seen a 9.5 outta 10. But I was a fan of the series. Still, one of the only movies I was excited for this year to exceed my expections. The other being some silliness about a bat.
