Say I worked in a department store that sold firearms, and the liscense to do so was 4 months expired, how big of a fine or jail time would the person responsible for getting it renewed get? Just hypothetically, not because my boss made the mistake of making me very very angry. Just hypothetically?

Depends on if any firearms were sold during that time. If none, then I doubt any federal crime was committed. If firearms WERE sold during that time, then you can expect at least one charge levied and a big fine per item sold. Who would be the one charged? The department manager for sure. The General manager of the store may be held resonsible as well, and possibly the regional manager if the store is part of a chain. If the BATF is in a particularly nasty mood, they may even try to come after the individual clerks. All this is dependent upon if they can find criminal intent. If there is none to be found, then a big ass fine will be probably be levied and no charges filed.

I would suggest to the store manager that the license be renewed or replaced posthaste.

Oh come on Afterglow, how many gun shops in Alabama do you think actually run off a liscense? I mean last time I lived there, at least three of the gun dealers in my town worked out of their pickup turck. I highly doubt they were liscensed.
