What is the difference in Cosplay and LARPing?
Also, good excuse to post this classic

What? Because Lara Croft is a big-boobed video game sex symbol? That's how she's marketed, sure... but she isn't played as an overtly sexual character, so I see it more as a strong female role model that some people have no problem allowing their children to emulate.
Now, if the parents allowed her to stuff her shirt to look more like an adult Tomb Raider, that would be creepy.

Ok, point taken. I've never played any of the LC games, just seen the movies, and seen all of the internet hoopla about her.

How so, did you subconsciously not look at the girl in the middle?

Given Nerfed's BIG Unspoilered Venture Pic, I thought this thread was broken, so I didn't answer in a timely manner.
I am certain Grae knows the answer...
BUT, I am bored, so...
LARPing, according to what I have seen, is more casual than CosPlay. Basically, most of the LARPing I've seen have been in hotel bars at gaming conventions (or other themed conventions). To me, this says since you are "acting" a role, some need "liquid courage" to pull this off. Also, most of the LARPs I've seen tend to be set in some sort of modern day setting (like Vampires or Spies or Soldiers battling Zombies in Post-Apocalyptic action). Needless to say, if you are wearing normal clothes, most LARP groups would not turn you down for a game session. And, from Grae's video, that is the main goal of a LARP...to play a game...although you aren't seated at a comfortable table with a small group of friends rolling dice in a LARP. In some sense, more "normal folks" can show up at a LARP, but these kind of folks tend to be the ones that get turned on/introduced (or could be open for such, IMO) to couple-swapping sex parties.
CosPlay tend to be more about costumes and contests. The better your look and costume, the better kudoes you get. While there doesn't have to be a costume contest with prizes, this sorta thing engenders more participants and interest than it would otherwise. There is no "gaming" involved and while one can be casual about it, such casualness tends to be the result of just wanting to make folks laugh at their antics or as a result of a dare, which, odlly enough, tends to also involve some "liquid courage" to a certain degree, as well, but not necessarily. While contests CAN and ARE held at hotel bars, they tend to be more social-events. Lots of picture taking, chatting, flirting, and a bit of dancing. It's more of a "show off" type of thing than LARPing, which tends to be gaming/playing out a story similar to a typical Friday Night D & D gaming session somewheres.
And, while I've answered Grae's and possibly other people's question as to the differences (or not, given prior knowledge on each reader's part), I now will depart....
Even though I still am a bit bored atm.

If we're all up in arms about the women, how about we POST something instead of complaining about everyone else not doing it.
Here, I'll be that guy.

Good show, my man. But I kind of thought I was that guy too... I mean, sure I posted pictures of the gals, but just as much the guys (maybe with all the dudes in that Venture Bros post).
