Custom Card Game Case
OK I got together with some of my old friend over the holiday break, and I brough along some of my card games. Well, I have them stored in several plastic tackel boxes, and other plastic shoe boxes and cases of the like.
Well the cards are all in plastic bags, and dis orginized, and I just don't like how it is set up. Also I am running out of room fast.
So I started looking around for an option. And I can't really find anything that i like. So I designed this:

It is based on a set of plans I found for a custom tool case. I just need an extra set of eyes on this, and any ideas I can do to update it.
Based on my count I need something like 40 of the smaller inserts to cover my games.
Ideas? Comment?

Sweet idea.
I could have used something like this when I had boatloads of Magic: the Gathering cards.

With the deck keepers you could almost put them into any kind of premade box. But I would still run into the issue of having to hunt and pull things out. What I need is a tool case that opens on the sides (like my build) and then add shelving to it. Well, something else to hunt for. =)

Without checking HF's site and just commenting on your design.
1) Don't you think, once loaded up with cards, that the thing will be VERY HEAVY to lug around? Maybe putting wheels but...then you need to deal with unloading it from your car (preferably station wagon or van) and carrying it up flights of stairs when there is no elevator.
2) If this is supposed to be stationary, have you considered hunting around for old card catalog pieces of furniture that Public Libraries use? You could probably find some nice old wooden ones or just go with the metal-type that have thinner walls. Maybe up for county auction or on E-Bay?

Oh yeah this thing would be heavier then hell. I just hate having to try and lug around 3-4 boxed of games. You do give me the idea of having a large stationary place to just hold them, and a smaller portable unit that goes with it for when I want to take a select collection of games. Maybe even something to hold my games and my wife's stuff. Ideas Ideas.
I wonder if I can find a nice large portable tool box and then just build draw seperators for it.

Whatever you do, make sure its latched in some way, shape, or form.
It will eventually tip over, and picking up all of those cards would suck.

Magnets would not work if you had to stop fast in a car. I would use an latching system. Could be as easy as little hooks over miniature nails, or could be as complex as an entire faceplate over the box with a latch at the top.
Either way, It would save headaches in the long run.

True. A combo of both might be helpful. Once I get something built I'll look into different options that fit its size.
