Superman can't have a beer? -Action Comics #869 recalled
Apparently, DC Comics recalled the cover to Action Comics #869 due to the depiction of Clark Kent drinking a beer (cue "the vapors", fainting couch) which was edited to show the pair drinking soda pop.
Original Cover
Edited version for the consumer masses:

Wouldn't it have been easier to make it "root beer" or something like that? Oh well.

totally missed the point. ok, lets assume they put "root beer" on the label instead of "soda pop". So then what?

Ugh. I heard about that.
DC went into a little bit of a panic when All-Star Batman #10 came out with all the "naughty" words visible, and pulled like three other titles as well from what I understand.
Having Superman drinking a beer with his dad and watching the sun set makes him seem human and relatable, which is a good thing... especially when everyone's key complaint about the character is that he's too Godlike. Showing two grown men, one a Pulitzer-winning journalist and one a small-town farmer, drinking "Soda Pop" is far stranger to me.
It's not like he's knocking back a sixpack of PBR and smashing the cans on his head, and it's not like he's driving a car or something. And on a nerdier level, I doubt alcohol even effects his super-metabolism.
I don't think any kid's going to suddenly turn into an alcoholic if they see Superman drinking socially with family. People sometimes go so far to "protect the children" that they just end up screwing up the children.
-------
The only worrisome thing I can spot on that cover is that the womenfolk are hanging to the back, silently waiting to bring their menfolk an ice-cold lemonade, with "Boys will be boys" expressions on their faces. I assume from the image that Martha and Lois just finished cleaning up the table and washing all the dishes in frilly aprons, while Jonathan and Clark went outside to enjoy the sunset. The only edit I'd have made to that cover would be to give Lois and Martha some chairs, and a couple beers of their own.
Also, WTF is happening to the moon?

I agree, it even LOOKS like a rush-job. Especially considering that "Soder Cola" has been a major brand-name in the DCU for YEARS now.

Let's be honest though, if you weren't aware this recall happened, you'd probably never notice or care what Clark appears to be drinking, or what the label on the bottle looks like. The average comic book buyer who goes to the store to pick this up is more likely to notice Metallo's face* in the moon than whether a tiny bit of the artwork says "beer" or "soda".
* = At least, it looks like Metallo to me. I could be wrong though.

You don't enjoy a nice bottle of "SODA POP"?
Although, if you look closely, I think the original label actually says "Root Beer". Which makes it even crazier if they recalled it, hahaha.

I think it symbolizes that Brainiac is watching... It's part 4 of 4 of the Brainiac story arc...
