Rolly Polly Deathmatch #6: Captain, My Captain
"Chewy, I told you to watch out for wormholes!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh"
"Well, can you get us out of it?!?"
"Grph"
"No?!?"
The Millennium Falcon, captained by the scruffy-looking nerf-herder, I mean, lovable rogue Han Solo, found itself flung across the reaches of space and time. The trip through the wormhole was a rough one, and the Falcon was too damaged to escape the gravitational pull of the nearby planet. Through the brave efforts of it's crew, it was brought down smoothly...in a manner of speaking.
"Chewy, stay behind and guard the ship, I'm going to have a look around."
"Waarouhhh"
"Of course I'll be careful."
Han Solo stepped onto the rocky planet and started walking towards a nearby settlement. After a fifteen minute walk, he reached a sign on the outskirts.
...
"What kind of writing is that?"
"It says Haven."
Han Solo turn to see a man walking towards him holding a gun.
"Listen, I don't want any trouble."
"Then you best start walking the other way."
Solo ducks and reaches for his blaster...
Alright then, Han Solo vs. Mal Reynolds: no ships, no crews, just gunslinger vs gunslinger.
Han Solo

-Usually in it for the money
-Good with a blaster
-Possibly Scruffy looking

Jesus that's tough. I thought Mal was ok till Serenity, but in the movie it showed he was damn fast on the draw.
Straight up in the street I think Mal's faster.
<We're talking gunfight right? On a battle field I have no idea, I do know the Falcon is the better ship, it actually has guns and shields.>

Straight up gunfight, Mal.
I love that old scoundel, Han. Just gotta go with Mal on this one (and Inara was a TON hotter than Leia).

From what I know of the characters, Mal seems to be more creative in a fight. I could see him doing some sneaky underhanded stuff. Now in the same department Han is no slouch, and he carries a stronger gun. So its only going to take one hit for him to down Mal, meanwhile it may take more than one shot to drop Han with the pistols. But from what ive seen in the movies/tv shows I think Mal is going to win. I know Han can be sneaky, its in his backstory as a smuggler, but unforunately i havent seen very much of it in action.
Hmmm........Put me down for Mal for now, maybe somebody can sway me the other way.

Well, Han Solo has been in similar confrontations before. Case in point: Greedo. So in order to measure Han Solo's bad-assitude, we must consider Han's incarnations before Lucas fiddled around and re-fiddled around with A New Hope and after the Special Edition was released.
Pre-Special Edition: Han Solo shot first. He won't give you any warning that you're about to get shot. He's just chatting away with you, being as glib and conciliatory as he can be, and suddenly right out of the blue, SHAKK! You're dead.
Post-Special Edition: Greedo shot first and zapped the wall about two feet from Han's head, justifying Han shooting Greedo in self-defense. On first glance, it would seem that Greedo is simply a very bad shot and that Jabba's taste in goons leaves much to be desired. But on closer analysis, Rodian reflexes are extremely fine-tuned to the point that a Rodian will shoot you dead the moment he sees your arm tense as you squeeze on the trigger of your own weapon. Hence, the only conceivable way that Han could avoid getting shot by Greedo would be through the subtle art of misdirection, of which Han Solo is a master (bested only by the peerless scrutiny of Imperial soldiers, which explains why his attempts to masquerade as an Imperial stormtrooper on the comlink and fend off the alert failed). So it was through conversation that Han Solo did convince Greedo to relax, while avoiding direct eye contact with Greedo subtly assured Greedo that he didn't need to concentrate on aiming his weapon at Han at all times. So the very microsecond that Han made his move and went to shoot Greedo under the table, Greedo was completely psychologically disarmed, even during a confrontation.
Han Solo has godlike self-confidence, pinpoint accuracy, a blaster which can easily penetrate reinforced Stormtrooper armor--let alone a heavy shirt and suspenders-- and a streetwise grasp of psychological manipulation, all of which make Han Solo an incalculably formidable opponent. Were it not for his friends being placed in peril, Han Solo would have shot his way out of Cloud City rather than allow himself to be lowered into the carbonite pit. Unfortunately for Mal, Chewbacca is safely far and away back aboard the Millenium Falcon. So much for any chance at manipulating Han into surrendering by taking Chewbacca hostage. Not that Chewie would knuckle under so easily either....
Hey, Malcolm Reynolds was good in Firefly and Serenity, but I have to give it up for that old space dog Han Solo.

Mal.. sorry Han.
To be more elaborate in my choice, both would fire and have fired without much sign showed before hand. I however, beleve that Mal could take alittle more damage than Han. Don't get me wrong, Han has seen his own share of trouble, but we've seen Mal go through alot more.. going by soley the movies and the Firefly series, no comics/books.. I haven't read any of those. Oh and Mal loves head shots.
