I think their problem was that they made the announcement too soon. You would think after their experience with CoX they would know to not say anything unless you have something to say.

I'm actually rather liking the cell shading. It's interesting and definitely makes the game look more comic book-y. I would like to see more videos though, so I can see it in action and really get a feel for it.

As far as cell shading goes... personally, I'd like to see an option to view it or not. For those who like it, let 'em have it. For those who are used to the look of COH and other MMOs, let them have what they want too. Just my 2 cents.

As far as announcing the game so far in advance, it enabled them to open up the forum and let people run rampant with ideas. They've been paying very close attention to them and have even changed the course of development of some things based on feedback from the forum community already.

I like it. The earlier they start listening, the more input the gamers have throughout the development process. If they waited until like November or December and said they planned to release the game in a few months, there would be very little room for player feedback and time to make changes and such before they had to start gearing up for production and marketing.

We'll see. But yeah, I can see how not maintaining a steady flow of information would cause people to start losing interest. They need to start giving out little bits of info on a weekly basis rather than wait, wait, wait and then here's a really big block of stuff to digest. The problem with that approach is that whatever they give us is consumed in moments and we're left wanting more anyhow... so it'd be better to give us less info each time they say something but at least give us a regular schedule to look forward to seeing that next shred of something possibly awesome.

I want to know more about customization. They keep saying they're giving us this and that, but what are our limitations? How much of this game is customizable? I wish they'd stop beating around the bush and come out with something for us to chew on. I'm so sick of those Dev blogs. They're nice, but not for every last update. The new interviews/articles don't help either. It's just the same basic information with a new coat of paint. I forgot to check the website for a whole week until I was reminded by someone in class.

I want to see some gameplay trailers, screens of the creator interface, some more screens of the zones, information about combat, etc.

I think *this* is one of *the* most important key things most people do not understand (even I missed that point). It's good to see a "dynamic duo" as it were, shoring each other's weaknesses. Should be interesting, IF I can survive. My own enthusiasm is a bit waning. Gotta visit the forums, but work and new games have kinda taken me away for awhile.

Also, I really, really hope they consider making Cel-shading an option; this is based from the Forum comments I've seen. Not a "great" yardstick to measure public opinion, but I do see if not "half", 1/3rd of CO forumers not "digging" Cel-Shading.

And yes, like Yin, I am sick of Dev Interview/Blogs. I understand them. It's nice to know the folks. I am polite and read them. They seem like great guys (although the lead artist really needs to have more original creativity, IMO ala Dr. Fate/Dr. Destroyer, the new Metron, and the Gladiator "Ironclad"). I understand the explanations, but I still do not like "the look" of these characters. I could let Dr. Fate/Destroyer slip through the cracks if they insisted NOT to change his look, because it is at least the better of the three, but they really should just consider adding a damn Crown/Eyebrow Ridge to the helmet. Simple solution. I also understand why he is "gold" colored (Defender is primarily Silver), but...meh.

I am on a light hiatus for a week or more for game playing. I still expect CO to surprise us, especially since CoH has things CO can compare/compete against while CO keeps it's cards to its chest. But yes, definitely, CO *really needs* to stand out from CoH and I think they also understand this, too. It cannot be CoH 2.0, it has to offer something CoH can't or won't offer in one shape or form and it has to offer NUMEROUS things.

Love the cell shading, adds more comic feel. I also thought CoH was lacking in this respect.

Maybe I'm not following this, but if I don't have a target selected in COH and I select a power, it selects the closest target for me and shoots off my power. I really don't have to hit tab as much. Also, when I am on a tank or brute, I switch my tab key to pick the closest foe just in case I get a runner.

If there's one thing I learned from the build-up to COH is this...stay away from the site for quite awhile. If you check it every week or every couple of days, you're going to become impatient and frustrated. I only check once every few months and then I get enough info to hold me over.

I always tend to use my mouse, especially when attacking. Maybe I am a bit of a "control freak" and I like to pick my targets; not have the power button pick it for me. That way, I can mop up the weak or the one wailing on a teammate. I'll try with the Power use, but I somehow think I won't be satisfied with it.

And yes, especially on a Brute/Tank, I Tab and my target pops up 200 yards behind the guy who is in front of me hitting. Maybe I should check out my Options settings within the game.
