Avengers : Initiative
You know what. I really dont like A:I. Its not the writing, but the concept. Its somthing Marvel dosent need
I Was expecting Initiative to be short stories. Kinda like Frontline. Initiative would be about various superhero teams that were formed in the wake of Civil War that couldnt get their own books.
Instead, its a total rehashing of Academy X
its superhero boot camp, just like mutant boot camp
Its teenage angst, its squads, its been done. I'm half expecting Wanda to get all wackytobaccy and diminish the superhuman populace. I mean, am I really supposed to expect that that many superacsidents occured to make that many superhumans around that age? its almost like, in the wake of House of M Where JoeQ said writers gotta come up with ideas to make superheros and not rely on mutancy, that writers still got lazy.
"Ok, lessee. We got this guy. Whats his power? he's a lizard. Lets give them the lizard formula. NEXT!"
I can expect this kind of lazyness in DC but not in Marvel(Face it, DC had, for a long time, an assembly line of lazy ideas and names for superheros). I almost want the mutantcy back cause you could still write a kick ass superhero mutantcy background.
then theres the Teenage angst. I dont need a rehash book to give me teenage angst when marvel already has several good books for that. New X-Men, Young Avengers, Runaways. Do we need another? Especially if its a clone of what a former book was? No thank you
I'll still read it, but not buy it. This goes in my list of "I'm not shilling out money for this. not even the trades".
