What if Elseworlds Collided on Triumph Server

Okay as I was saying over in the Cool Alts thread. A few of us got to talking today (May 2nd 2007) and decided to ponder upon the What If? and Elseworlds comics. Basically this group (name we. . . need a name) is for the fruition of those thoughts.

It is taking place on TRIUMPH server since the vast majority of us have all our slots full on Virtue. Think you are interested? Well here are a couple guidelines to keep in mind.

1. The group is all heroes. Most likely they will be based on mains and maybe a secondary alt. This is to give people a chance to team with people they have never even teamed with before.

2. You will need to change the gender of your character (ie Empyreal became Empyrean, Meltman became Meltwoman, etc.)

3. The attire of the character does not have to be the same but your colors should be the same and your emblem (if you have one).

4. You can flip your powersets (ie Empyrean is a Fire/Elec blaster-Empy is a Elec/fire blaster, Meltwoman is an Elec/Fire blaster-Meltman is a Fire/Elec blaster, I think we get the idea) but your AT stays the same along with origin.

5. Naturally a majority of the names will be taken so usage of .,!?' are all allowed and if you have to L and I can substitute same with 0 for O.

6. This team isn't for powerleveling or badge whoring. Its for fun. Let's try and keep within 5 levels of each other so we can team easily.

7. Let's go hit the streets!

EMPYREAN
Empyrean crashed in some town in NM around July '48. Then proceeded to get captured by a Rikti sleeper cell, sold off to Crey as a lab rat and held prisoner till the Rikti invasion. Where he was released by the heroine known as THE Imperial, keeper of the Scepter of Queens and her good friend (recalled back to the future) I-Cross. Who is a mechanical genius in her own right since she built the time machine that brought her to this century. He supposedly led a team called The Icons, left to go freelance awhile till the Brotherhood of Paragonian Knights found him and he's resided at their high tech fortress the Citadel ever since.

Nice idea. I had once created alternate versions of Hollis with different powers but never changed her gender. Male pirates just aren't as fun....

Couple of questions:

1) Although the character's gender is reversed, is the identity the same? That is, if I wanted to make it so Steve McDonald died instead of his wife Heather, and she took up the mantle of Bloodwolf, would that work, or does Steve need to be Stephanie? (I suppose the story will be the same either way...)

2) I'm assuming if AT stays the same but your power sets can't be flipped, that part doesn't count. Sandy would be interesting as a Fire/Electric, but Bloodwolf can't be Super Reflexes/Martial Arts. OTOH, I suppose a Fire/Stone Tanker could switch to Stone/Fire. Or, (reaching a bit) Dark/Super Reflexes to Martial Arts/Dark. Or, (reaching a bit more) Sword/Regeneration to Claws/Invulnerability. (wearing armor)

3) We're gonna have too many Fire/Electric and Electric/Fire Blasters.

4) How much do we change around the backstory? If Sandy (Sam?) is a boy, should I make his father, who invented the implants, his mom? Do we assume everyone in this universe is the opposite gender, or just the main heroes that we are concentrating on?

5) What about sidekicks, or rivals? My Triumph villains could be a foil for this group, but Blue Diamond and Silver Bolt are both male, like the originals, and Element Beast is, well, a dog. (Although literally speaking I suppose he is the opposite gender from Genie Gold. He's not the same individual, though)

6) Maybe, as TopHat earlier suggested, you should be allowed to switch ATs if it can satify a Power Set switch. But, is the opposite of a Electric/Energy Blaster an FF/Electric Defender, or a Storm/Energy Defender? In other words, do you just literally reverse the power sets, or do you reverse which is the blasts? Or in TopHat's example, reverse which is the buff/debuff. (I.e., Empathy/Energy instead of FF/Psi. Or, reaching a bit further, a Gravity/Empathy Controller)

Seriously though, just keep it a hero, reverse the gender, and have the same kind of powers, and I think you're fine.

Dude. This is role playing. I'm supposed to think too much. That's half the fun.

[edit] BTW, I definately think I'm going to call Sam Jensen "Steppenwolf". If I can get the name. It's more male for him to choose a hero name instead of refusing one as Sandy did. It makes a nice reference to the DC Steppenwolf. And it makes for another neat reversal since that's also a name of a character from the original story I based Sandy on.
