A Gruesome Shadow Unfolds!

Police are baffled by a new string of grisly murders that copies the events of last years alleged killing spree by Aris Van T’thyr. Aris Van T’thyr whom had been dubbed the “Midnight Slasher”, had undertaken a vengeful plot against his former partner and 1st Hero Brigade member, Mark Raven. Now only one year later the same fiendish acts have begun to repeat themselves. Lifeless bodies found on streets and in alleys on a lonely morning, drained of blood. Paragon City police are baffled by the crimes and have no suspects at this time as last years perpetrator Aris Van T’thyr, currently remains incarcerated in the Ziggursky prison in Brickstown with no chance of parole.

Accusations from other elements in Paragon City have begun to question the legitimacy of the charges and the arrest of Aris Van T’thyr at the hands of the 1st Fist of Light, in thanks to a super sleuth who wished to remain anonymous. Lord Maximillian Strife, the ruler of Escavia recently stated in a press conference that he had been present when the grim atrocities from last year came to pass. Lord Strife went on to state that he would gladly lend his aid as he has in the past to the citizens of Paragon City, in hopes of bringing whoever is behind these crimes to justice. He went on to state that he feels Van T’thyr received an unfair trial and believes him to be a victim of what he called “blind justice”. The Mayor’s office has made no comment about the rulings in the case of the “Midnight Slasher” at this time.

Paragon City Police has issued a special bulletin recommending that its citizens take special care in the late hours of night under the advisement of Magi and the mystical community. Whatever force is behind recent events and those about to come to pass is believed to be some form of “supernatural evil” that is both “malevolent and terrible”, according to one psychic from Magi.

It is that time of year again when the leaves upon the trees change their hue, where strange things are said to come to pass, and the spirits of the long since departed return from their graves to visit the living. Something wicked and diabolic now plots against the inhabitants of Paragon City once more. Let us hope and pray that its defenders remain ever vigilante in their watch upon our fair city, for who knows what gruesome fiends now lay in shadow to prey upon the helpless in the night.



Event Information

Event will take place Friday, October 21st starting at 9pm est and ending approximately 11pm est on the Test server.

The event will be a Halloween “Who done it?”, where players try to discover who the true mastermind is in this nefarious plot. Players will be given a clue on Justice Radio at 9pm est to the location of the first event team member for players to speak to. Once players have reached the first event team member, that event team member will give them clues to another event team member. The chain will continue down the line until players have spoken to all event team members and are redirected back to the starting event team member that was announced prior, on Justice Radio to begin the event.

Please keep in mind that all event team members will be “in character”. Likewise we request that you do not send any tells to event team members as they will need to speak with other event team staff and the tells will likely go unanswered.



Prizes

One Grand Prize Winner will receive a prepaid copy of the upcoming City of Villains expansion. Winner will be determined by the first to speak to all the event team members, return to the event team member that started the event off who had been announced on Justice Radio, and correctly give the name of the event team member who is in fact the mastermind behind the villainous plot.

Second Place winner will receive a copy of the City of Heroes Collector’s Edition DVD.

Third place winner will receive a regular copy of City of Heroes and one copy of Sucking Vacuum by Alien Menace.

Honorable Mention Awards will go out for those that remain in character the whole time and/or have an attitude that contributes to the enjoyment of the event for others. Those receiving such awards will receive a copy of the Justice League Hexors game by Mattell (both a starter and booster pack) plus a copy of the Natural Selection game by Alien Menace.

Other prize support will be given away randomly during the event.


Shipping of Prizes

All prizes will be shipped overnight to anywhere in the continental U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. Any resident from outside the U.S. who is determined the winner will be responsible for any additional shipping charges.



Justice Radio After Party

Starting at 11pm est. Winners of the event will be announced live on Justice Radio by DJ Azmyth.

After Party will be held at the University in Croatoa.

Magical Artifact Stolen!

Last evening the at approximately 1am, the Paragon City Police in King’s Row was raided by an unknown force of black clad assailants, utilizing high tech weaponry and equipment, leaving six officers dead and four in critical condition. The assailants made their way into the vaults beneath the facility taking the horn of the Envoy of Shadows. None of the other contents of the vault were disturbed in any fashion however. At this time police have no leads on the identities of the assailants, and a criminal investigation is underway.

It was only a few months ago that the villain known as the Envoy of Shadows had been defeated at the hands of heroes. The Envoy of Shadows, whom had been summoned by the Circle of Thorns, came face to face in a brutal showdown beneath the streets of Paragon City in the ruins of an ancient city forgotten by time. During the climactic battle a piece of the horn from the Envoy of Shadows was broken from the villain, before being sent back into the netherworlds at the hands of heroes.

According to our sources at Magi, the horn from the Envoy of Shadows is believed to be instilled with the powers of the Envoy of Shadows, and may as well itself provide a link to the netherworlds themselves. Our contact also stated, “this couldn’t of happened at a worse time”. When asked why, she stated that on the 21st of October there would be a conjunction, where the planets and stars would come into a “proper alignment”. She went on to explain that such events amplify magical power. So if the powers of the horn were tapped into at such a time the results could be severe in nature.

When we were finally able to contact Azuria she went on record to say, “It’s quite possible that the horn could be used for any number of magical practices, all of which could have dire consequences extremely malevolent in nature. I’d hate to even imagine what someone might do with the horn considering its nature. The thought alone is very disturbing to me.”

Midnight Slasher Freed!

Lord Maximillian Strife retained the services of Tamira Cross to free Aris Van T’thyr from incarceration, the man allegedly believed to have previously been the Midnight Slasher. There are many parties in Paragon City who have been questioning the authenticity of Van T’thyr’s prosecution since the murders have recently begun again, replicating every aspect of last years gruesome killing spree in it’s entirety. Many however are staunch in their belief that Aris Van T’thyr belongs in Ziggursky, and may be associated with what’s happening now. The district attorney’s office has stated, “this remains pure speculative for the moment. There’s nothing to prove or disprove, yet.” Paragon City Police are still investigating on in hopes of discovering the identity behind the Midnight Slasher, and bringing about an end to the bloody crimes.

Judge Steven Bowers ruled presided in the hearing of the case of the “Midnight Slasher”. Bowers has a reputation for being heavy handed when it comes to dealing with the super powered criminal element of Paragon City. In light of recent events, Judge Bowers ruled that Aris Van T’thyr was to be freed immediately, his name cleared of all charges in association with the case at hand, and his criminal record expunged. Attorney Cross who represented Van T’thyr stated, “This just goes to show how polluted the system has become here in Paragon City. They throw an innocent man in prison so that they can have a sense of fulfillment of justice and pacify the people. My client and I are still in deliberation with regards to further action at this time for the defamation of his character alone.”

Very little is known as to the relationship between Lord Maximillian Strife and Aris Van T’thyr. Strife came to Paragon City not long after the Rikti invasion at the request of Senator Helmsly. Strife, the ruler of the nation of Escavia which sits in the Carpathian mounts, came to Paragon City and extended his nations sympathy and aid in the United States time of need. He was also involved in the investigations last year that ended with the arrest of Van T’thyr. Lord Strife remains unavailable for comment on the proceedings at this time.

Reporter Disappears!

Stanley King, a reporter with the Times Staff recently disappeared while investigating the whereabouts of the Midnight Slasher. King had been employed by the Times, and always went above and beyond the call of duty to get the inside story. Stanley King had been present last year when the killing spree went underway, at the hands of this nefarious villain dubbed the Midnight Slasher. Stanley King was said to have been a man that always remained calm and collected of wit, but simply could not stand idly by any longer and allow the things he had seen to come to pass, without trying to do something to prevent the loss and tragedies that had been occurring around him.

With the killings underway again, Stanley King took it upon himself to investigate outside the boundaries of the Paragon City Police. Just before he disappeared he had found evidence that he claimed proved the attacks, which happened only in the wee hours of night, were at the hands of a group of people, and not a single individual. Stanley King received an anonymous phone call the night before he disappeared allegedly tipping him off as to the killers whereabouts. The following morning a bloodied note was found in front of the Times offices.

“You are foolish to think that you have any chance of stopping me. I have stood by for so long and witnessed the weakness of this place you herald as a paragon of heroes. No longer will I allow your transgressions to continue unchecked. Your weakness and corruptions have been made clear to me now. As a testament of my word, I have your precious Stanley King, and I assure you that the next to meddle in my affairs will share his fate. You have been warned.”

While hard to tell specifics, handwriting experts suspect that this note was not penned by the same hand that left the blood stained message on the steps of City Hall during last years events, whom had claimed the identity of the Midnight Slasher. Paragon City Police are still investigating the serial killings and are considering placing a curfew from dusk till dawn, in hopes of keeping the streets of Paragon City safer at night. No further information has been discovered about the disappearance of Stanley King, but police officials fear the worst. Anyone with any further information should report to the Paragon City Police in King’s Row.

Mysterious Hunter Comes to Paragon City!

In the wake of the Midnight Slasher, the citizens of Paragon City continue to tremble in fear as the body count rises. The unknown assailant continues his reign of terror on night time streets of our beloved city, killing seemingly without rhyme or reason, leaving his victims to be found in public places, lifeless and drained of blood. The Paragon City Police still have no leads as to the identity of this mysterious assailant or his motives behind the crimes.

While Magi has been desperately working with the Mayor’s office and the Paragon City Police to resolve the threat of the slasher, a mysterious figure has recently arrived in Paragon City by the name of Jack Hallows, taking an interest in the ongoing investigation. Very little is known about this enigmatic figure. Rumor has it that Jack Hallows is a hunter of the supernatural, with a conspicuous reputation for questionable methods while conducting his hunts. Our sources with Magi have told us that the appearance of Jack Hallows could be either the sign of darker things to come or the hope of resolution to the terrors brought about by the hands of the Midnight Slasher.

Hallows travels from town to town, confronting those proverbial things that go bump in the night, keeping himself at a distance from those he helps. According to Magi, Hallows has been actively involved in hunting the supernatural since before even our own Statesman donned his tights and mask for the first time. If ever there was a time when heroes were needed, this is it. Let us hope and pray that the answers to our troubles can be found in Jack Hallows and that he can finally break the curse of the Midnight Slasher and his hold over our fair city.
