I am SOOO sick of this age discrimination CRAP! Just because im younger doesn't mean I can't understand stuff, Treat me like a person, because I AM ONE!

I respect ya kiddo, but I also know that at times because you are younger there are things that you may not be able to sometimes participate in. I'm not saying you can't, just that sometimes it's harder for ya cause most people don't understand you. It happens and no matter what there will always be people that will bring you down. Always look up and stand tall and true to yourself cause in the end thats all that matters. Head up Tark, I believe in ya, always have, always will. :)

Even though I'm a freshman, Im only about 5' 2" and about 103 pounds, but I still played football and wrestling for the HighSchool. Even though everyone said, you are to small blah blah blah. I still played and did well.

Yeah I played in high school football too, hehehe. All the guys were like a girl?! Anyhow they were short on players and the coach knew me and that I liked football. I played as a support person mostly, but when I got on the field the one night and scored a touchdown on my own well, let's just say that the guys were impressed. hahaha. Old school memories...wow thanks Thermyte for reminding me of it :). Yeah and with this new job I might take people have been telling me for years that I can NEVER do. That I just possibly can't do it cause I'm a frail little girl....*sigh* The thing is I personally know I can. Not many people know how strong I can be if needs be. Inside yes, for myself I can be that strong willed more so when people say I can't do it. I'll tell ya what though I am certainly scared and yes it's not gonna be easy by any means.
Stick with what you know and you know you can do much more then people tell you. So what if they say oh...he's just a kid, well sooner or later you will prove them wrong that you're not just some dumb kid(no offense), that you can do things better then some adults can even. That you are your own person, that you can make your own life.
Mouse runs around and never sees his true setting while hawk watches from above and strikes and proves that this point be taken. Tark be that hawk and don't let the mouse get to you. You will strike and make your point to them in time.

Indeed. Some of the baser morons on the internet are in their thirties, so it's just a matter or perception. I'd just act yourself, and if people want to treat you young, screw em. Just respond in kind. Worked wonders for me. (I'm 24, so I don't have the problem quite so much anymore.)

Tark, you are miles ahead of just about every 13 year old I have ever known in my life going by intelligence and maturity and on top of that you are probably the kindest kid I have ever had contact with (today most kids your age are total assholes.) I have always talked to you like everyone else, like an equal, your age never mattered to me in the slightest.

All that said, I really don't expect everyone you meet to do the same and to be realistic you probably shouldn't expect it from a lot of people either. My advice is to take what you can bare for as long as you can, speak your mind and your heart, and don't let other people get to you. Be yourself, take care of yourself and don't let other people bring you down.

Yeah, I agree with what most of the people have said. The only time I have invoked the age thing was tonight on teamspeak when you made the comment aboutthe meet-up. I just meant that you being 13, going to visit a bunch of people you know on the internet would make your parent's head explode if they were anything like mine.

Yeah, people who discriminate agaist us for our age suck. It's not so much in MMOs as it is other online games (Halo 2) that people get pissed because you're young. They just feel the need to put someone down to make themself feel big, and that's usually when you're beating them (or even just know what you're doing.) But hey, that's the stereotype and we're (unfortunately) gonna have to live with it for the time being.

On the "you're too young to understand" thing: I admit that there are some topics I don't feel comfortable talking about, or listening to, but if you're cool with the topic, just let everyone know that you're mature enough to handle it. If they don't like it, tough. Don't let it get to you, Tarkmeister, we all get looked down upon sometime or other, and some people out there just don't think that us younger folk have the competence to understand all the stuff they do. Even if they don't think you can handle it, just stick around, they'll learn sooner or later.

Understand that when we were your age, we had the exact same thoughts and feelings. And then, we got older and said, "man, I just didn't understand back then." When I was your age, I was a very intelligent mature 13 year old as well. And 13 years later, I look back and say, "man, some of the things I thought when I was 13 were big time insane!" You're 13, and while you are a nice kid, from what I can tell, that doesn't change the fact that you are 13. I know you wouldn't be allowed in the Battlefield 1942 clan because you are under 16. I personally dont feel comfortable having to worry about my language, and topic of conversation around someone else's kid. Which is what you are, good kid and mature kid aside, you are someone else's kid. I know that I wouldn't want my kid listening to me on teamspeak sometimes. CoH is my free time to enjoy, and I don't want to have to worry about someone else while I do it.

Now, with that being said, I'm glad a lot of people don't age discriminate, and I appologize for me doing so, but it wont change. Especially for team speak. In game, I probably won't even know, and don't really say anything you couldn't see/hear. You aren't an adult yet, not that you aren't more mature than a lot of them, because you seem like you are, but i believe that it's my choice.

Can't hold it against her if she doesn't want to have possibly adult content conversations with ya Tarky. I tend to try to watch what I say because you never know what youngsters might be around... that and it's not really good to be saying bad things all the time anyways. Manners! ;)

Yeah, I know that when I'm talking in TeamSpeak, I keep the language down as close to nil as possible. And it doesn't matter if Tark is in the room or not... I just don't think we need to curse to have a conversation. I think respect for other people should be important. And, having adult content conversations with people on the internet... Uh .... let's just not go there!

hey, i'm a parent, got a 3 year old... yet I have a brother who's 14.... talk to a friend all the time that's 15. when i talk about drinkin ya shouldn't understand it :) parents perspective, but also I don't really curb my language either, you got a filter your parents and you should know how to use it. if they're gonna let you get on teamspeak or if, in my friends case, let you listen to internet radio stations, that's their deal, you guys need to work that out, if they think you're old and mature enough to do it, more power to them. People need to realize that parents need to be more in charge of what their kids to, treat the kid like he's your age or can deal with the things you can, if they have a problem with it, they need to take it to their parents or their parents need to know what their kid is doing, just like I will be when my daughter gets older. I got online for the first time when I was 16, granted that was 10 years ago and Tarkenchi was only 3 :) don't ya just love pointing stuff like that out. My parents let me go meet some internet people with some friends of mine when I was 17.. new years party, it was a blast. So some people can have crazy parents like that.
