Mark Millar is a comic author, know for series like The Authority, Wanted, The Ultimates and lately Civil War. A really big guy in the comic scene. And in a recent interview, he said this:

Like all my pals, the TV and movie people have come calling and even the computer game people (which is weird because games are for pedos and I have no interest).

You know, I don't like a lot of Millar's work, but that's so obviously a joke. Probably on account of his good friend, Brian Bendis, recent involvement in the Halo comic book series.

I don't know, I like Ultimates (it's cheap, dumb fun), but he writes in a very specific way: namely all flash and no substanance. He's all about the action! The excitement! The explosion! And unlike, say, Warren Ellis, he's not into subtleties or irony or a feeling of genuine amazement, it's more of what we've seen before, but EXCITING! It's basically Pulp without the imagination. It's the stereotype of the Y generation (iGeneration? MyGeneration? Whatever you want to call it,) loud mouthed, slightly obnoxious and with a constant need for flashy stimulation.

Millar's pretty famous for ragging on his comic book buddies. I think Solario's on track here. This is really more of a shot at Bendis than anything.

(Which should push some of you completely the other way.)

I judge writers on their best work, not their worst. And it's hard for me to knock Millar after Ultimates, which was my favorite superhero comic of the decade next to Astro City.

I think what Millar fails to realize is that there's a vast difference between the way a joke is perceived when said face-to-face and when said over the Internet. Until he learns that, he should probably keep his pedophilia humor to himself.

Agreed, Ultimates and Civil War are good, well done comics but that is absurd. I mean, I can understand his feelings of surprise about interest from other mediums but to blatantly insult video games as to say its for pedophiles is nuts. There is less space for pedophiles in games, and while there are a few truly dirty games, there is far more in movies and TV(i.e. pornography which has been around in those mediums longer and are most well known there)

Also, in video games, anything close to pedophilia would be pretty much to a bunch of pixels and not a real person, TV and Film can be worse as people(like some of us admittedly over our favorite indestructible cheerleader) end up doing it over real people :mad:
