The thing about PCity.com is that PCity.com exists as a temporal thing. PCity.com was not always PCity.com, nor will it always be PCity.com. PCity.com is visit by many forms of change, just as the changes to PCity.com come from many causes. The latest incarnation of PCity.com was felled because OGaming--the lords and masters of PCity.com--took PCity.com for granted. PCity.com the stand-aside project. PCity.com the property. PCity.com the commodity. PCity.com the media vehicle. Never PCity.com the community.

In short, PCity.com died because it became PCity.com the institution rather than PCity.com the community. But this decline of PCity.com is well-founded, as PCity.com--in the various incarnations of PCity.com--has always existed as a community of rogues and rebels who chose PCity.com over cityofheroes.com out of rebellion, shunning the corporate manhandling of cityofheroes.com by frequenting PCity.com. And now that PCity.com itself has become PCity.com the corporate toy, we the previous incarnation of the PCity.com community have chosen to follow the rebellion which brought us to PCity.com in the first place, rather than remaining with PCity.com and everything that PCity.com represents. In so much, remaining with PCity.com would require that we the former PCity.com regulars become the thing we hate. We are made of sterner stuff than that, and so we the former PCity.com community made our exodus from PCity.com to CoHGuru.com. And given the nature of our sometimes nomadic community, why return to PCity.com when PCity.com is still the PCity.com which we chose to stand against in the name of freedom from the neglect and occasional manhandling which OGaming has brought to PCity.com? This action would make no sense, and so we continue to avoid and neglect PCity.com just as PCity.comavoided and neglected us. Thanks for the memories, PCity.com, but you are no longer our PCity.com.

It is the symbol used by Prince when he was refusing to use the name Prince. Although the media quickly coined the phrase "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" in actuality he intended for that to be his name, and intended for it to be USED as his name. Used even though it couldn't be pronounced, which is why for a time MTV used the sound of the wind blowing whenever they referred to him.
