Ive posted this on the official forums, but thought Id post it here too. I really hate settling on names, sooooo what are you top 10 most wanted names? That way maybe someone here has the name and doesnt play it or knows someone who sitting on they can let it free if they choose.

Actually the name I want back is Starshadow. I had it on opening day then went to remake the costume for the character and someone swiped it within a minute. I found out who swiped it and went to talk to them. Its a ninja! Not only a ninja but a leet speaking jerk! He refused to hand the name back over and was pissed because at that time a lot of people knew the name. They kept PM'ing him. Only other server I actually have the name on is Protector. Otherwise every variant is taken. Managed by luck to get 'Starshadow which is now a placeholder on my account till I hit 50 with Empy.

Yeah, I knew about him a long time ago... Spent like a week trying to convince him to give up the name back when he was only like level 5.

Radiation Wall started out as The Atomic Avenger, but it was taken. The only name I remember really wanting was Stricken for my villain. And Strength of the World wasn't taken, but its just 1 letter too long.

Well, being that I play on Protector, I got most of the ones I wanted... however, tried making variants of the same characters on Virtue and found some of them were taken there.

Major Muscle (took Max Muscle instead, but later on claimed Major Muscle when it became available)

I'm not complaining. In fact, I agree... if anything, not getting some of the names I wanted ended up making me think up better ones. Liberty-Lass, for example... if I'd gotten Miss America, you know it would have gotten genericized anyway (for ripping off the beauty pageant).

Blind Visionary, on the other hand, ended up with me rethinking the character. I started it as a Emp/Rad defender and wanted to give her a religious theme (to go along with the name Blind Faith). Not getting that name, the character didn't feel quite right... so I recreated her as an Inv/Energy tanker and took away the religious aspect. Now, the "blind" part of her name is literal and she "sees" by sensing energy patterns around her --which gives her a unique insight on things.

Since I server jumped (from Protector to Virtue), I decided to do all new characters. Except one.
Garnet.

And it was taken. I tried Garnett. Taken.
Garnette. Taken.
So I had to make Garnette Stone. Which, I felt was kinda...lame. But I like the character and I guess it fits since she is a stone troller.

And I decided to do a grav/kinetics troller.
Going for the obvious, I tried Kinetica. Taken (it was a longshot)
but I tired the Italian form, Cinetica, and it was free. And it works more since I do RP with her and I feel it fits.

Odd moment of clarity: The Black Wind was the name of some badass ninja-type guy that appeared in the second season of The Renegade (starring Lorenzo Lamas). I liked the name/concept so much, I made a D&D assassin character and used the name... briefly.

The Widow -- became the Widowed

The Whippoorwill -- I got lucky and scooped it up, I gave it to Kurai (since the Whippoorwill was supposed to be the Robin to the Widowed's Batman) and now neither of us has the name and I'd like to get it back. *KICKS Kurai in the shin* :p

The Harvestman (on Virtue; I got that name on Champion, however) -- became the Harvest-Man on Virtue (since Harvestman and Harvest Man were taken), decided that "The Harvest-Man" sucked and deleted him. The original's still on Champion.


Names which I'm particularly glad I scooped up:

Bloodywedd (a "psycho killer" alteration of Blodeuwedd. Like anyone besides me was ever going to pick that one.)

The Orphaned (a perfect childhood alternate for the Widowed.)

Mary O'Knickers (originally just a faerie-ish name for a happy-go-lucky wandering faerie who travelled the world with little more than the clothes on her back. When I decided that a scandal in Mary's ancestry led to her bloodline becoming distrusted yet benevolent vagabonds and scoundrels, a glance at the surname birthed an ancestor who earned that family name--and the ire of the High King--by stealing the High Queen's knickers while she was wearing them, embarassing the royal couple and prompting them to repay the insult with a curse or two. So much the better. :) )

HazContaminated (a merging of "HazCon" (Hazard Control) and "contaminated", a perfect name for a HazCon worker who contracted the contagious zombie plague. HazContaminated was just a TNT fighter, but I still congratulate myself on being that clever. ;) )

Miss Thursday Night (the mascot, referee and mistress of ceremonies for the Thursday Night Tussle's Villainous side, and also a capable singer and entertainer (hence, a Sonic/Sonic Corruptor). Again, not too many people would try for this name, but I'm glad I got it anyway.)

Patrick Galloway (a homage of the hero from Clive Barker's Undying.)

Xerviakk the Raider (just a name I originally gave to my character in The Sims Online. She had the red robot body and the purple alien head with antennae and green hair. She also had a maxed-out Body of 10 and routinely picked fights--and won--against the people who ticked her (and me) off. Her house was made in the shape of a crashed spaceship, complete with black "scorch trails" across the lawn behind the giant wall lamps which served as the warship's thrusters, a mess hall, a "crew quarters" bedroom with multiple bunk beds and a teleporter which led up to the computer-lined bridge overlooking the rest of the ship. A stereo system in the bridge played sci-fi music at all hours of the day and night...which at times led to the stereo breaking, at which point Xerviakk would need to explore the rest of the suburbs and ask around for a human who was capable of repairing "xenotech" or "technology far advanced beyond anything this primitive planet has to offer". Other TSO players usually did get a kick out of me playing my character like that, saying anything from "lol" to "Oh, cool! A space alien!" to "Hey, that's a pretty good idea for a Sim. I like that.". Later, I built Xerviakk a miniature arena (complete with spectator seats on the rim) where Xerviakk could settle her disagreements with the local Terrans more formally, as per her warlike race's customs. Anyway, she was a shoe-in for a Brute when CoV came along. :D )

While I was thinking of the above list, The Rocketeer came to mind because its got that Golden Age feel to it... so I just substituted the word "comet" for "rocket."

Unfortunately, Dr Incite was attacked by the Freakshow in mid programming of the android’s moral subroutines. In the chaos, the machine was activated and able to dispel the invaders however not before its creator was killed in the process.

Today it is unknown if the android is fully sentient, preferring to imprint itself on who ever is closest that might need its protection. Can this creation of wires and steel become more than it is?

That truly is the question at hand, but in the mean time this Cyber-Knight will continue to serve to those in need in this City of Heroes.

It's not really that difficult, there's a little button that says "Check Name" that tells you whether a name is taken or not. :p

For the record, a "living fossil" is a life form that is alive... used to describe many existing life forms which have fossilized ancestors. Oft used to for newly discovered life forms only previously seen as fossils.

So I was watching Blood and Chocolate last night (Great Werewolf flick)
And when I woke up this moring I had a great concept for my Peacebringer.
I like it so much that I think I'll buy a rename token, only thing is I'm terrible with names.
Anyone got some ideas and let me know the availablity?
(basically its a whole new identity from what I have today)
Oh, and he's going to get a new costume too.

Backstory:
Running Sky was born to the Native American tribe of (Insert Cool French Sounding name), People of the Spirit Shifters. At the Age of Accendence, each member of the tribe was visited by their ancestoral animal guide. This being would not only help chart the course of their new "awakened" life, but better know the Spirit Realm with some the ablity to shift into that of their true identity and even pass to and from this world. However, their was a problem with Running Sky: his guide was never known to him. Some attributed this to his part French Canadian herritage, others that he dreamed to much of "unnatural worlds" and "places among the stars."

Frustrated and restless in his young adult life, ever wishing he could join the current "Age of Heroes," Running Sky would wander the wilderness of his home hoping to partake in a quasitrue vision quest. One night in his walkings, he found exactly what he was looking for. During the "Eve of Twelve Star Falls," a large rock from the sky in a blaze of heat laneded near him, wounding the earth. Apon a touch, he was ingulfed by the brilliant white light. As this energy consumed him, bleeding through his eyes the power was incredible with a boom single worded voice in his head. It said "Paragon, your destiny lies in Paragon." That rock would be forever known to him and his people as his "Space Seed," bringing forth a new champion as old, new and future worlds were soon to colide.

In truth what was not known was that this "Space Seed" had contained a preborn kheldian baby. Too young to have an identy, too new to carry a voice, too weak to have any strength but survival this baby quickly bonded with Running Sky with no real weight but its own until it could grow within him over the years. Its boon would be a tremendous blessing and strength to the 'host,' but what of their new formed mind? Its only home seemed losted and unknown, its power would need time to form, and it craved a family and people to learn from. Knowing only one place of hope, Paragon, together "they" would travel there to forge a better, more spirited world.

I like it! Hopefully by Sunday I'll be able to claim it. Now all we need is Lummy to come up with a Cool French Sounding name for the name of his tribe. Have to admit it was an incredable feeling when I woke up in the morning. I realized that there weren't any Native American Kheldian hosts, at least that I knew about. Combined that I love the Lupis Garou and shapeshifters, this concept seems the ideal fit. Oh, and thanks for the compliments guys. Even managed to work in a semi Green Lantern origin. The cool thing too is with Name Changes, I don't need to reroll now and just have some real fun with my level 20 squid.
