View Full Version : Statesman Must Fall: The Anarchist's Crockpot

I'm back, for the moment. I just thought I'd toss this idea in your laps and see what we make of it.

I've been wanting to take Bloodywedd and Friends through the merry sleighride that is the Lord Recluse Strike Force. And I finally got stirred into action after Slaphappy asked Bloodywedd to give him access to the Inspiration storage. Somehow, droogies of Scoundrel or Hardcase rank couldn't access the storage, and Slaphappy needed more Inspirations for the respec trial he was on. So I solved the problem and gave everyone of all ranks access to the storages.

So then I reasoned, "You know, respec trials are similar to strike forces: Once you're on one, you can't buy more Inspirations from your Contacts. You can get them from other people (like the one time (and, in light of recent events, the only time) that I did Darknesse the thankless and blindly charitable favor of letting him buy Inspirations from Kuhr'Rekt with Bloodywedd as the go-between) but you can also grab them out of storages, apparently. Why didn't I think of that before?"

Well, now I have.

http://coh.tritonius.com/RSFStorage.jpg

I've temporarily added a Tech Inspiration storage along with our base's usual Arcane Inspiration storage. The Arcane storage will hold the "medium" and "large" Inspirations as well as other special Inspirations like the Christmas presents; Don't use the presents lightly, as their effects are unpredictable, they're pretty rare and we'll probably have to wait until next Christmas to get more of them.

The Tech storage will be used to hold the "small" Inspirations that you can buy from any Contact. Let's do our best to fill this storage before the time for the Strike Force comes. In my humble opinion, we should focus more on stockpiling the "life-preserving" Inspirations such as Respite and Break Free while focusing less on the dime-a-dozen Enrages and Insights which every other mob seems to be lugging around. Sure, Catch a Breath is a common drop too, but it's amazing how quickly you can burn through a whole tray of them when you're on a screaming, frothing rampage....

My suggestions (for stockpiling a total of 100 Inspirations in the Tech storage):

20 Catch a Breath
5 Enrage
5 Insight
5 Sturdy
15 Luck
15 Break Free
25 Respite
10 Awaken

Counter-suggestions are welcome, of course; Please remember to explain your reasoning. Any extra "small" Inspirations beyond the 100 limit can be placed in the Arcane storage if it has any space left. I have no suggestions for filling the Arcane storage; If they're uncommon or rare Inspirations, then they're good enough for our storage...yes, even the orange ones.

Also, try to think of your teammates when making withdrawals. For example, if you're the type of Mastermind who hangs way in the back and lets his pets catch all the hell, then you certainly don't need to be scarfing up all the Lucks which the Dominators, the Regen Stalkers and the hapless Brute who's acting as the designated Freedom Phalanx aggro magnet could put to better use.

Remember that any teammates who aren't with Malice in Wonderland will need a go-between to get Inspirations from the storages, so at least one of us will need to accompany them into the Wonderland base between missions, my faithful droogies. Our base now has four telepads with all seven telepad beacons, so the base can be used to take shortcuts between zones as well. You do have your base teleporter powers, don't you?

The time I'd like to throw this Strike Force is 2:00 PM Central on Sunday, March 4th. And here's the sign-up roster:

1. Bloodywedd (Lvl 49 Dominator)
2. Owain Venomdrinker (Lvl 50 Mastermind)
3. First Victim (Lvl 50 Dominator)
4. Kryogentic (Lvl 50 Mastermind)
5. Zabimaru (Lvl 45 Stalker)
6. Mr. Mud (Possibly. Lvl 50 Brute)
7.
8.

So sign up and strike a blow for anarchy and disorder, won't you? >:]

Count me in on Owain. Don't worry about insps with me, I'll just raid my SG storage for them if and when needed.

Cha cha cha cha! :singdance

In a moment of shrewdness, Bloodywedd chose Aid Self over Summon Seer. It was a tough decision, but in the end I decided that a Fortunata who's only around for four minutes out of every 15 would be considerably less useful than the power to heal oneself every however many seconds or so (as soon as one can get some breathing room...which is usually after Bloodywedd drops a Mass Hypno or a Terrify).

You droogies will definitely owe me for this. Auto Doc, here we come! :D

I think the Seer blows. It gives Perception! Woo! The Mu helper monkey sounds a lot more offensive and helpful.

Wids, you only need lucks and sturdies for the RSF. Respites for those with defenses.

I'd come, but one, I can't make that day or time, and two, I just did my first failed RSF yesterday and the taste is still bitter.

Lucks and Sturdies are good against the big guns, but how many goons are we looking at here?

Also, what time would work better for you? I'm not too good to help organize a second Strike Force if it'll help you out. :)

Charon

Well... The goons are all even or -1 con... So you don't really need any inspirations for the SF except for the final mission... Which is entirely made up of 'Big guns', hence the Lucks and Studies, and possible Respites.

I can do sundays, pretty much, that's about it. And it needs to be pretty early on.

Okay. It normally seems like goons which are yellow and up pose a drain on my Respites and Breaths. I just can't carry enough Lucks for every goon encounter, so it falls to my character's natural abilities to ward off the threat...not a major problem, but all that nickel-and-dime damage sometimes accumulates high enough to make it necessary to pop a Respite, and to deal with bigger goon hordes I need my AoE attacks, which eat more Endurance, which can result in untimely power-outs (even with Bloodywedd and her two parasitic End recovery powers) unless I eat a Breath or two every now and then. (I always carry a few Breaths with the Widowed just to help her recover quickly from the dreaded Elude crash, even though Stamina and lots of End Reduce SO's keep her well-charged the rest of the time.)

So if I'm expecting goons, I load up on greens and blues. But if it's an Elite Boss or higher, I shelve a few greens and blues and replace them with purples, yellows and reds. And seeing that the goons in the LRSF apparently suck enough to be easily manageable with our powers alone, shall we opt for the latter, folks? :)

I can do Sunday afternoon around 2:00 PM Central (which I think is about 8:00 PM British time). If everyone here can make that time, perhaps we can schedule the Strike Force then. We'd love to have the invincible Mudster along. :)

Incidentally, a lot of Bosses, Elite Bosses, Heroes and Archvillains are vulnerable to single-target Sleep attacks like Mesmerize (which Bloodywedd has). You don't have to stack it, the big bad enemy goes sleepy-bye as soon as the attack connects and, unless someone on the team wakes him up, you can take a few moments to recharge your most powerful attacks and defenses, heal friends and so forth. Do you know if any of the Heroes in this Strike Force are Sleep-prone like this?

RedSwitchblade
02-26-2007, 11:28 PM
Yes, all of them are sleep prone.

With 2 or 3 mind doms, you can effectively sleep 3 AVs in a 4 AV group and get the pull you're hoping for :P

Well, poopy. I was wondering about that, too.

At least I still have Aid Other and Vengeance. Maybe we can come up with a way to farm wounded or dead teammates. Red CoT crystals, anyone? :D

Isn't Slaphappy Level 30-something? I think we should rebuild the mission computer and run him through the Silver Mantis Strike Force after this. Have you ever met Colonel Duray of the Sky Raiders before? :)

One time in beta, and I believe I did one with you as my Corrupter. :D But not sure if I ever did him as Slaphappy. Just hit 36 today.

Sorry!

Oh, wait...that's right. Charon wanted to come too, and he can only make it early on Sunday. Didn't we agree on Sunday at 2:00 PM Central (8 PM Greenwich)? Let me change that.

I believe the minimum to kick off the Strike Force is five, so we're good to go even if no one else signs up. Let's tell those uberdudes who insist that we can't beat the LRSF without "five Rad Corruptors" or "three Stone Brutes with Acrobatics" or whatever that they can take their dogma and shove it up their tight, preachy, retentive little bungholes. >:]

And Babe? You need to be at least Level 45 to join. Get levelling. :P

... We're so screwed. :(

RedSwitchblade

I don't know if we're actually screwed.

Way I see it, two psionic lances with good range and a mind dom with sleep (PLEASE SLOT IT FOR RECHARGE BTW) means we may be able to actually pull and beat AVs one at a time with a little skill and patience.

It won't be fast, but it might work. I recommend finding a second mind dom for the SF, so we can chain sleep multiple AVs at once.

Good thing we're all hiding behind you, Brute. If Mr. Mud keels over, the rest of us haul ass. Got it, guys? :D

Okay, I will three-slot Mesmerize with Recharge. I have a feeling I'm going to need it with all these friggin' Mastermind pets constantly waking everybody up.

You know what would be really cool? Effective synchronization. Masterminds? Set pets to Heel and use them for Bodyguard in case the Hero gets frisky and tosses an AoE at your fragile butts; Keep your Secondaries handy to aid and defend the rest of the team. The rest of the team? Wait for the Hero(es) to go sleepy-bye from Bloodywedd's Mez, cue your most powerful attacks (Psionic Lance, Assassin Strikes, etc.) and go on three. 1, 2, 3! WHAM-WHAM-WHAM! Mez! Pause to recharge uber attacks. 1, 2, 3! WHAM-WHAM-WHAM! Mez! Pause to recharge uber attacks. 1, 2, 3! WHAM-WHAM-WHAM! Mez....

...you know, Bloodywedd really is the only high-level Mind Dom I know. WTF? Why is that? O_o
