So it turns out that Deep Throat was W. Mark Felt after all.

Official confirmation. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/31/AR2005053100655.html)

Thank you, Mr. Felt, for helping our nation roast G. Gordon Liddy's punk butt. That bastard deserved it. :D

And Rando? Fix your sig already.

I was hoping to disappoint at least three antique pornography afficionados. I have to meet my quota.

I would fix my sig, but that would require effort.

Man, I can't believe the number of people I've talked to since yesterday who had no idea what Watergate or Deep Throat were. Americans, too.

Do they just not teach history any more?

Quick! Hide this thread from Esbat!

But seriously, I thought this was pretty cool. I saw it last morning on cnn's website. And it all got confirmed by Woodward and co.... so I'm guessing that it's the real deal.

Though I'm not sure if it was really that much of a secret. Felt was 2nd in command of the FBI. He had access to all that information.

The sad thing is I work with people that looked at me like I was a perv when I mentioned that the identity of Deep Throat was revealed. :grr:

mmm... I hate to mention it, but are you sure that had anything to do with what you were talking about?

Felt was always the most logical identity for Deep Throat, but having it confirmed officially is good. It was one of those badly-kept secrets, like Area 51.

What secret? Area 51 was where the Air Force was testing weather equipment, nothing more.

Really. The Air Force told me so. Then they told me to stop asking questions about it. I guess they get frustrated with everyone asking them about their weather equipment.... :D

Yeah, was pretty cool hearing about it on the news. Was about the first time I've watched the news in 5 months, was glad I caught it. Poor history teachers, gotta go through all their textbooks with a marker and write that in... cuz you know the government isn't paying for new books AT ALL....
