"We cannot have threads with identicle titles to theirs"
This is quite possibly the single silliest thing I've ever heard in my life. Not that it's that hard to change the title of a thread, but still...

Just compare it to Marvel sueing Cryptic. It's stupid, but you saw it happen.

The individual sub-forums and thread titles. We can't have the same titles as on the old boards. They're being assclowns about it I'm guessing.

Whaaaa?? They own the rights to those thread titles or something?? *boggle*
Oh, and does that mean that the Underground's thread titles can't be reused here? If so... could someMod change them to generic titles? I'd like to be able to use those titles here.

so why don't some of the "Mods" or "admins" change the names tof the threads over there to wht we have here and vice versa?

Because Xan is already in enough trouble. :p
Don't worry about the SG threads, they are SG "property". It's more about such incredible thread trademarks as the "Ding Thread" or forum names, "Asylum", "Spam Factory".

They're taking the DING thread?!?!?!?!?111111!!1
they'd better head over to the EQ1 forums and ask permission before claiming exclusive rights to that name... i'm sure that Sony is bigger than Ogaming.com
hey, we can have the Spam Factory back tho, they have "Beef and Pork Products"

Actually, I think I'm still admin over there... Tonight, I shall change the SG names!
EDIT- Nevermind, it seems they've revoked my status as such. Oh well.

you shouldn't need to change any SG threads named after the supergroups, after all, if it exists in CoH cryptic has the rights to it.
If Ogaming tried to say "no, you can't name that thread 'The Underground' because you had a thread over here named that, we can just let cryptic know they're claiming exclusive forum post rights to a supergroup name from their game.

I was referring to the sub-threads of the group. Ticket Counter and Grand Central. But I guess the SG titles aren't in question here. I don't see where OGaming can come off saying a title is theirs to use exclusively. Greedy Buggers.

Yeah, I'm confused about that as well. How does this work?

I think it's just legal paranoia by some of the folks here. I don't think it matters a whit, but you might as well play along.

Leonai Art: It's up to you guys, I don't have a law-background, but I don't think we could sue based on forum thread titles
whole conversation saved, i've got our asses :)

See, I just don't see how anyone can consider it legal? If I create a forum to talk about computer games in general, and I want to have a place called Beef and Pork Products, they can't do anything about it, as far as I know of. And specific threads? That's even more rediculious. How many forums out there have a "Movie News" thread, for example.

As far as calling something the Paragon Asylum, how can they claim rights to both the word Paragon, and Asylum used together? Paragon in itself is a word in the dictionary, as is Asylum, and if their standpoint is that it's used in the context of Paragon, as in the city, then that's something they need to take up with Cryptic/NC Soft as well.
Though, I don't even know if there is a Paragon Asylum in "those" forums.
Yeah, I'm confused about that as well. How does this work?

Not having been involved in the actual signing of names in blood, My guess would be that there was a stipulation somewhere, probably buried under a mound of Froot Loops, that stated that all content 'becomes' the property of ogaming.
That would explain why the Freakshow artwork, originally published by Cryptic and proudly displayed on the original forum before being taken to the second one, is now somehow ogaming's.

If they slap on that banner over there after all the crap we went through over there, and the "deletion", there will be a revolution.

OGaming has no legal ground for protecting the names of the threads/folders.
Just so you know.

Perhaps, but the threat of legal action is sometimes all that is needed to stop a person or organisation from doing something; even if there is no legal basis for any complaints. :(

Scum sucking pieces of poo. F them, and every site they own. Why is it that AS SOON AS WE LEAVE, they slap on the old banner?! Why not put it on while we were still there?!
Ugh.
