I noticed the missing pics and am greatly saddened by it.

Edit: NVM. They are working on it, AG.

Wow, this is cool. Under the "Other" section they have all the old Supergroup sub-forums. They're kind of scattered but I found the old Bone Squad forum and all the other old SG forums that were there back in the good ole days. Cool stuff, I can finally save some of those posts.

Well I got my signature back, though I had to cut some of it due to the over 500 char length, lol, now if only I could find my avatar. In the mean time, I think it's high time to bring all the jigglies back so, if you'll excuse me, I've got work to do.

I don't think it's quite that bad. I mean, we all made the move over here and quite frankly some of us have little faith in a few of the people over there. So we're salvaging what we can. I mean we moved here for a reason, didn't we?

Not a slap in the face to Leonai, a slap in the face to ogaming collectively(Bogo). He messed up, I know they've apologized, but think about it, for months we had spartan boards with Matrix ads, why? Because they 'mis-placed' the server.

Plus, how many times will the community move before we all just end up posting back on the main boards and sticking to just our personal supergroup forums?

They had their chance with the community, they blew it, big time, the community moved on, it was a very, very nice gesture recovering the posts, it would have been even nicer if they didn't lose them in the first place.

It's like I take your diary and throw it down the garbage chute, 'whoops', sorry, here's a new diary, I know it's just a manila folder with some blank area from newspaper pages to write in, but it's just temporary. We've got a team working to get your diary back asap.

And then, months later.

"Hey! Remember that diary you accidentally lost? I found it! Here it is! Aren't I awesome? C'mon let me take care of it again since I found it for you!"

Overexaggerated, but yeah.

and sorry for the rant/ramble

Not meaning to insult anyone, least of all Leonai, I made this thread just to inform everyone that the info is there and they should grab every bit they can. Whether they move it here or not is not my business but it is a good idea to save it. I lost a ton of stuff when :symbol: went down.

I agree with Ink here. OGaming had its chance, it blew it. We stayed with that place as long as we could bear, despite the problems, but we've moved on.

Well, I think that it is a good idea to err on the side of safety. "Expect the best and prepare for the worst," I always say. If I had anything I wanted to save over there, I'd go save it. (but all my stuff was posted on the old Beta boards, and they are all long gone... fortunately, I DID think to make backups)

Yeah, this is cool, but I too am just swooping in there to save my PMs and some other random stuff that I was missing (onto my hard drive this time, thanks much). OGaming had their chance, and frankly we gave them even more time than they deserved, putting up with problems and excuses and neglect for months; it was only when we departed en masse that they decided to actually do something. Besides which I've no desire to move again. I'm staying here. I appreciate what Leonai has done in getting things moving over there, but it isn't a slap in the face to her at all. It really doesn't matter what they build over there any more, it's too late to change things now and has been for quite a while, and to be honest it really doesn't involve her and never has. She came into the picture too late in the game.

I'll drop by to scan OGaming's boards and leave again two or three times a month like I've been doing, mostly for the sake of curiosity and a wierd misplaced sense of nostalgia, but no more than that. Frankly, I'd consider it a slap in the face to Poison and all the rest of the folks who busted their butts getting THIS place up and running in such short order and with such a minimum of problems to just pack up and move back. There can only be one home for the PCity group, and this is it now.

@Quakester: Nice thread title. Someone reads Schlock Mercenary, I'm thinking.

Sable - I wouldn't consider it a slap in the face to me if people wanted to view both forums. While the admin team here have done allot to set up the forums, we're not arrogant enough to think people are going to want to post soley here. I take it as a great personnel compliment that you guys like this place so much. And have considered this to be my *home* since we all moved over here. :)

I'm sure we can have a peaceful co-existence with the 'other' site. Past problems with OGaming are just that - past problems. Leonai is on board and she seems a peach. It's for this reason I don't like the idea of mass-taking-and-placing things. I'm not going to stop anyone (would be a total abuse of power if I did) but I can say it doesn't seem that nice.

Here's a post from Leonai_Art for those who don't frequent the other forums:

The forums have been merged, and I believe most everything is in order. I don't know of all that might be missing, as I wasn't really part of the community back then.

My hope is that now that this has been complete, that you won't come here and "get your stuff", then head over to other forums, but that you might actually stay to build this forum... not to what it used to be, but perhaps into something new and active. I won't kid myself into believing that all will come back, not after all that many of you have built at other forums due to the slow support that was given to you here, but I do hope that some will stick around, help out new people that come along, and perhaps help build this forum's community back up.

The "I'll PM you with the information on where everyone went to" is discouraging to see. The motd when logging into the game... again, another thing that makes me not want to log into the game. Yep, it's our own faults for it happening, but that still doesn't make me any happier.

The damage was done, we're making efforts to fix a lot of it, but know that not everyone will come back. Bogo is in college, and has been cramming time in to try to fix and merge the forum in between mid-terms and studying, and when it's "Not been done" before, it takes just that much longer for it to be completed... but it finally has been done. I hope that his effort is not going to be just used as a tool to build community at some other forum.

Not sure what else to say, really. Just a hope that some will cross-post between different boards, or even take the leap and hop over here to support us building a new community, site, information resource, and more.

Cheers,

Leonai_art

It's cool to see that she is as commited as she is. I hope she does get that forum back up with a new and strong community. But bottomline is, I DID go and get my stuff and brought it with me here. I'm sorry that it upsets her. I wish her luck.

It comes down to this. If no one decides to post on the other board, then there's nothing Leonai or anyone else can do to revive it. I AM still checking the other board, but unless there is traffic there, there is nothing for me to reply to.

I am sorry about the MOTD on the PCity.com channel, but hopefully that can be turned over to Leonai as we have suggested. Hopefully by now, everyone has the information that they need, and can make the decision for themselves.

I don't really see the problem with this. I mean, WE are the ones that came up with that name. By "WE" I mean the community. The website wasn't :symbol:, it was :symbol:. So really, that channel was a community channel not one for a specific website. Furthermore, she joined that channel after we had all moved, so it's not like we pushed it on anyone. She sees that MoTD because she decided to join that channel and become a member.

Although now that we have moved to a different channel, this is all a moot point.

I've cleared up that point with Leonai though. She understands why we moved channels.

Actually, in retrospect, it was a good idea for us to move channels, so we COULD stop posting that MOTD. I didn't even think of it that way, but it was more than just confusing to the newcomers here, it was to the newcomers there, too. And Leonai and the others who weren't privvy to our reasons.

Poison
06-01-2005, 08:29 PM
I contacted GMs about the channel, too. They sent my request to the next tier, still remains to be seen. The channel still remains out of business.

It's everybody's decision to visit the forums they like, of course. Personally I see no use in frequenting 2 community forums that have to do with the same game and have 99% of the same community. I'm happy and proud of what we have here and I've put a lot of work and time into these forums, too much to leave it now. I appreciate Leonai's work a lot, she's a great person and has provern herself to be. What happened was not her fault and I hope she knows none of us is in any way angry at her. Contrary, if there's anyone to thank, it's her.

But what she posted goes both ways. It personally sickens me to see people post "this is my home again for nostalgic reasons" over there, especially if they're mods or admins. If I made this forum look 100% like the original forum used to look like, would this then become your new home once again? Is that all it takes for some people to switch back and forth? I think that's inadequate precedences and a lack of loyalty to what it's really about.
