Listen to the words of the song. Note the near orgasmic expressions on the faces of the kids. Then let the tag line at the end remove all doubt.... SEX SELLS!

"ride up and down and up and down -- on the inchworm!"
Still, I don't see how you can do much with only an inch. ;)
Good one Sally. :)

I don't. I remember that commercial from then. I thought it was stupid. I had a big wheel that had a handle next to the back wheel so you could skid and slide sideways to a stop.
I liked my big wheel. I thought everybody on the inchworm thing was an idiot.

Think less about the toy and more about the not so subtle message being conveyed in the ad. :P

I'd rather not. I like my childhood more idyllic than perverse, thanks much though.
I suppose there's something sexual about the Fisher Price Pottery Wheel or the E-Z-Bake oven... what about all the Barbies? I had several, even the big head one for doing make up and hair.
Now you're gonna tell me canopy beds with pink roses and purple unicorns are bad.
I hate you all.

Oh, come now. Looking through the eyes you have today at something of the past to find some hidden meaning?
I'll show you a REAL commercial laced with innuendo AT THE TIME IT WAS RELEASED!!

Get real, Goldrush. "Ride up and down and up and down" is not suggestive back in the stone age? Puhleeeze. :P

I got more then an inch worm, just I think it wouldn't be allowed in a commercial...............
.......yeah, to easy, but I think I understand the effects of drugs in the 70's
Edit: I got something new for you guys click damnit (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z00WrgIdcio&mode=related&search=)
I love the third commercial
"Can you hear it?"
"I can hear it"
And is it just me, or does the water wiggle look both violent, and like a giant dildo?

Okay, that Ball Buster commercial was awesome.
Here's another good one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV1hv6L0R74), though it's from the 1990s.

My sister and I had that Smash Up Derby set. There's just something about a toy that you are SUPPOSED to smash into pieces. Also, I had the little SSP VW Beetle, too.
That Bing Bang Boing thing, though, I don't know how I missed that. I can't see it working, though. (At least with Mousetrap you had the location of everything marked)
And is it just me, or does the water wiggle look both violent, and like a giant dildo?
We did NOT have one of those. Wham-O... very appropriate name for the makers of that. That thing was responsible for more than one brain injury, I'm sure.
Here's a great idea for a game, kids, the fun-filled world of high priced art auctions. Fun! Actually, we had a version of that called "High Bid", which I think was from even earlier. We found it in the attic, I think it was our parents' game. About as much fun as you'd expect it to be...

My brother took the back wheels off my big wheel to make his gokart thing. I was so mad. I miss my big wheel. Except when you would get that one flat spot in the main wheel. *roll flop fool flop*

I was a child of the 90's, so our big wheel was Papa Wheely, which was the big wheel made for you to wheely on. Being a kid with a huge driveway on a hill meant years of semi-deangerous fun on those
