Use the provided link to download the client and server. You'll want to run the server on a system the internet can see(may not work so good behind routers, unless you can open the proper ports).

I think you'll need mysql also to run the server, just guessing though, since I don't know about that sort of thing.... :notme:

Of course you can just get the client and browse the public servers.

I could never get the teamspeak server to work beyond letting other people login. If anyone figures it out please post a tutorial here or something in the works of Teamspeak for Dummies. Thanks.

We had issues with folks getting started, here's an exerpt from a technical Q&A a...friend...posted about the time we were using it heavily.

Q: Teamspeak suxxors! I can't hear myself through the mic! or I'm getting echo a lot, or I sound like Greedo from Star Wars!

A: Dude, teamspeak roxxors, cause it's free and mostly works, first there are several 'settings' for mic use in windows, under sound controls be sure it's not muted, under recording controls be sure it's selected, and then you also have the teamspeak settings for output volume and such.

For the echo, that's the mic actually picking up the output from the headphones and retransmitting, it's a tough balance, but try poppin' in when nobody else is on and mess with it, if you don't get any echo by yourself, then it's somebody elses deal, and if it's me too bad, go suck a lemon I'm the uber admin and you will listen to my booming voice echo through time!

For general sound dealies, well, there's a few things, I don't think Teamspeak likes soundblaster live, there's also the issue that most folks don't have the leisure of running on a second system, so they're playing the game and using teamspeak, which can tax resources(see memory note above). So what to do? Don't fret, if you can at least listen that helps a lot, you can hear someone say 'hold up', much quicker, if the entire team is at least able to listen, and the leader(s) can at least speak it helps a lot.

If it won't even load, that's just teamspeak being free and stuff, it won't run on my win2k system, but I run the server and client on win98 systems no problem, you can try reinstalling or maybe installing an older version or check the teamspeak forums, they're better at troubleshooting that stuff than me.

Were you running mysql with your teamspeak server? I don't know if it'll run without it, but I think you need it for the database stuff. So if it's trying to add a user to the database, and can't, that could be it...?

Kinetix has gotten it to work, we used it to chat within our SG.
and you won't need MySQL, thats like Databases and stuff, PHPish.

Not necessarily. If you have a British accent, we'll assume one of the following:

1) You're a person of wealth, nobility, higher education or some other elite pedigree which puts you above the rank and file.
2) You're a effeminate, unassertive and hypersensitive weakling.
3) You're an irrelevant historical throwback.
4) You exist solely for the purpose of perpetuating gimmicky forms of comedy.
5) You're an arrogant terrorist or criminal mastermind who wreaks havoc on civilization just because you consider it to be your God-given privilege.

So you see? One out of five insubstantial conclusions (read: prejudices) is actually tilted in your favor! Just use big words like Rupert Giles or Sherlock Holmes does and you'll be fine. ;)

Of course, I suppose it's worth mentioning that British people have variant accents and dialects just like American people do. These assumptions apply pretty much to "High British" accents (kind of like the "Queen's English"). You also have the slightly sharper and less subdued accents of "Common British" areas like Liverpool and maybe Birmingham; Just think of how the Beatles spoke when they weren't singing.

And then you have the forms of "Low British", like the Cockneys and the rural tavern-hoppers. The way I hear it, the British evalutate those accents the same way that we evaluate our Texan and other Southern accents: Thugs, drunkards, lowlifes and ignorant sorts. Nobody assumes anything good from an Alabama accent. :think:

I suggest we try to setup at least a weekly type deal where we try to log in at a certain time...Prolly 2 times on that day..one for those who live across the pond and the other for those on the other side...

Cause I know most of you might be going to bed and such when most of us over here are just logging in.. :|
