Alright. I have to ask. Are any of you playing Guild Wars?
I'm thinking of perhaps sharing an account with Amoeba Man to satiate that once-in-a-while craving for fantasy game play.
Since there is no monthly fee, I thought this game would be good for that. But I don't want to buy a game that isn't any fun. The look of the game is great, but I want to know how it plays.
Thanks.
~Mina~
EDIT: I'm listing chars and forum names so we could perhaps meet up in GW.
Tsarmina: Tsarmiina Daekuon
Amoeba Man: Drathen Basacore
Taberetta: Nova Ascent
Kurai Inago: Kurai Inago
Blur: Inde Carde
Tarkenchi: Nemosis The Great
Vyxzuw: Caitlan Fairchild, Lord Vyxzuw, Pyria Storm, Winter Rose
College friends and I are investing into it. Have to wait until I start work. You know. $600 paycheck every two weeks. :P Right now I've nothing, and what I do have I need to save.

Its a good fun game, it only resembles an MMO, dosent really go all out. The graphics are nice, the gameplay is smooth, the world is yours, the storyline evolves with you. Its very easy to get into and play for even just a little while.
Dont expect the normal MMO community, the only time you share a zone with other people is when you enter a city zone. The world itself is populated simply for you and your party. You can hire NPC's to go with you which makes it so that you can "solo" even when you cant find a group.
Its a really good game, there are reasons its getting great reviews, but its not a typical MMO, so dont go there expecting it to be so.

Wow, that's the best description I've heard of it so far. So, can you team with other players to go on these missions? If so, this may just be the perfect game for me. :)

I guess i can go a little more in depth about the game, im bored right now
The class system is pretty cool, there are only 6 class's but you can sub any one of the other 5. In the end you could learn up to 150 skills if you find them all, but you can only ever have 8 of them loaded up at any one time. This allows for a wide range of customization options. I was playing a Warrior/Necro and i was incredibly hard to kill with all my lifetaps and such.
Yes, you can have other people enter the world with you, just head to a city zone and find some characters to join you. Its pretty easy, and there are guilds sprouting up all the time. Just join an active one and you can have a blast tearing things up with them.
If you just want to play the pvp part (doubt many on this board do) you can create a level 20 character right off the bat and jump right in. Downside to that is you wont have nearly as many skills as everyone who goes through the RP part of the game would. So the game tries to cater to everyone.
Another thing i liked about the game is that you can download it through the NCSoft website and just purchase the account key. I personally dont care if i have the book or the discs, so this got me up and running really fast (i live pretty far away from any decent stores).

Half Life is pretty dead on. This game is easy to pick up and hard to master. I play an elementalist/ranger. Heavy damage spells and a pet to tank for me :)
Also, crafting is pretty easy. You basically gather what you need and take it to a crafter NPC who makes armor and weapons for you. Also, any armor you make is "customised" for you, which means noone else can use it. Weapons are also like that. They don't come customized, but if you customize it you get a 20% damage bonus, downside is again, noone else can use it (so dont customize if you want to trade it!)
There are also dyes to change colors of stuff. Runes can be added for skill boosts. Magical handles, etc can be added to weapons. There are guilds in the game, and when you join one, all your characters join it, so no spreading your time all over the place with various guilds.
All in all lots of fun. Something to give me a break from CoH for awhile.

I picked it up on the game's release date, but Haven't played it much due to the fact I'm trying to hit 50 in CoH by June 16th (1 year anniversary of me picking the game up) However, I did play it for a little while, the graphics are good, and I enjoy the very solo based game-play. My character is an Elementalist/Necromancer (Burning an entire field of monsters to death and then turning them into zombie minions kicks ass.) His name? Kurai Inago of course.. but he's only like lvl 7.

I've been thinking of picking it up. Based on these comments, I'll definately give it a closer look.

If you guys want..I can play whenever I have the time. I like to Play the Paladin/Warrior/Knight type roles whenever I play games like that. It looks great...but I just haven't logged in or nothing. :p

Be careful though. If youre looking for an mmorpg, this is not a good choice.
First of all, forget character customization. Each class has a very distinct look, but everyone in any given class looks like a bunch of identical twins.
The only real way to customize is the fact that you can carry only 8 abilities, which can prove to be irritating.
Another thing that kind of annoys me about the looks, is that everyone's perfect, everyone's beautiful (or ugly in a very stylish and beautiful way), theres no room for normal looking people.
Second of all, the world is devided by levels, just like in most regular games. That means your exploration is limited to traveling through series of corridors that pretend to be outdoor.
And finally, the game is really all about PvP, so the universe is very unfriendly when it comes to rping. Im saying that environnement-wise, but i expect it to be the case playerbase-wise as well.
However.
If youre looking for a counterstrike-diablo hybrid (and theres nothing wrong with that), and nothing other than action really matters to you, you might wanna give it a try.
Honestly, i was very much against this game, before i realized that its really not an mmorpg. Now i respect the fact that it succeeds in its own way.

Exactly right.
And I don't like PvP so I don't know why I'm interested. However, the few times I've PvP'd I've had fun. So maybe that's it

I played one of the weekend beta events. It was pretty cool, but not cool enough for me to buy it.
I play! Look me up, playing Inde Carde. :)

Well, I have been glancing and deciding to pick it up. I do have a pre-sell disk from Best Buy (Such disks give you access to a specific armor weapon, but I am guessing most players replace it when they find something with better stats). I am thinking of getting the special box with that glow/aura thing happening.
But, I have been a bit busy iRL with business and parents and killing chinese (on two video games, not real life :P ), so while I am interested in the FREE monthly play and even the Diablo/Shadowbane overview slider, I sorta have a full plate. But I will probably break down and buy it. :)

Well, we ended up buying it. Though with a 4 char limit that means I can have only TWO!! Inconceivable!
So I'm poking around as Tsarmiina Daekuon, lvl 3 Ranger. And if I remember correctly, AM's char is Drathen Basacore, Elementalist/Necro.

Pyria Storm (E/Me)
Winter Rose (R/Mo)
