Hi everyone... it has been quite some time since I posted anything over here, but I have something I wanted to ask everyone, so I came back.

Back in June I cancelled my CoX account for two reasons. The game itself was becoming repetitive and I had an important year at school coming up. So I made a decision to quit and deleted all my characters to insure it would be a permanent decision. I also quietly left the forums, not wanting to raise any drama with yet another "Goodbye, so long, wouldn't want ta be ya thread". I apologize if annoyed/worried anyone with that sudden departure, was not my intention. Now to the reason I came back.

I'm at a place in my life where I have a real good idea of what I want to do for my future and I am really excited about it. I recently declared my major at the school in International Buisness and am studying Chinese with the possibility of going to China this coming summer for a study abroad program. This is something I really want to do with my life. I want to have a job that allows me and even requires me to travel, I want to be able to talk to people around the world in their own language, and I want to meet people. THis allows me to do all those things. I have a couple friends who are going to hook me up with a lady that is willing to teach me Korean, so there's yet another language I might get to learn. That's what I have worked on on my own.

I wanted to ask a favor of everyone here and I hope you don't think too badly of me coming back in here after so many months to ask a favor or two of everyone here. I want to ask if anyone here has any experience in the realm I am going into and/or if they know people that can give me advice in the field. I want to know if anyone can, or knows people who can, speak the languages I am learning that would be willing to be a friend on Skype and help me improve through conversations. I would be immensely grateful to any help that you all can offer and I want you to know that I fully intend to repay any favors back in full and then some.

I recently had something of an altercation with someone I still consider a friend (though they say they don't consider me one any longer) about my outlook on life. I don't want to give up the notion that a person can go through life thinking and caring more about other people then themselves. The other person tells me that I need to be more of a selfish prick or I'll be doomed to a life of depression and uselessness. I refuse to believe this. I don't think I could look at myself in the mirror if I let go of this belief, so I am stubbornly holding onto it.

So here I am, asking everyone on these forums for help. I'll let it be known that I have met some of the most amazing people on these boards and made quite a few friends here. I enjoyed my times in game with all of you and I miss the 'good ol' days very much. The world, however, is not a stagnant place. It keeps moving and changing and I have to change with it. I no longer have an interest in the game, but this doesn't mean I have no interest in the people I met playing it. In fact in some ways, I am still drawing on my experiences from my time in the game to improve aspects of myself. Many of you know that I wrote. I still do and am even writing more now. I have several projects that some of you know about that I am working hard on, if a little distracted as well.

If you want to get in touch with me, since I am probably still gonna be scarce around these boards (I'll probably lurk, you know how it goes =P), here are some things I use frequently.

If you only use MSN then pm me and I'll give it to you. I try to keep that one a little more private, so I only give it to people who express a genuine interest in having it.

So I hope to hear from alot of you again, I have missed alot of the personality of these boards, if not the drama =P. I noticed that there were alot of new faces around as well. I'd love to get to know you all too. So basically.. umm.. hi everyone.

Sincerely, Druid aka Douglas

PS: Out of curiosity and part of my other upcoming plans, if I were to be traveling the country and outside of the country, would there be anyone willing to house me for short periods of time? I'd be more then happy to cut deals with people in exchange for housing whilst I'm abroad. (this being when I am not traveling with the school)

Good to see you back, bud! I noticed you left but figured RL stuff came up (and I was right!). Sorry to hear you left the game entirely. Really wish I could help yout out, but despite being half chinese I can't speak a word and don't know any of my relatives that might still live there.

I know several people who have been in China, as I told you. One of them now works near Hong Kong, others were in Shanghai. I don't know how good their English is though, to be honest... I'll check and get back to you.

And if yo udecide to tour through Germany, let us know.

Thanks alot Poison. =) And glad to see you two again as well Quake and Iggy.

I'm currently wasting time at my campus as I attempt to write a paper on accidental threats to security in Myanmar (Burma). This teacher is driving me up a wall. I've already written this paper once, and she told me it wasn't on the right subject. (I wrote about how a damming project in the country was bringing about un-forseen consequences. She told me that wasn't accidental, it was unexpected. ... apparently the two terms are not synonomus.) I've already tried to discuss the matter with her once, but she's convinced that someone else in the class wrote a paper on the same subject (Accidents in Burma) and had his/her paper literally full to the brim with wonderful tidbits. This is interesting to me, since I am the only person in the class writing papers on Burma. (We picked countries the first day of class) So here I sit trying to dig up information on anything that could possibly be considered accidental threats in Burma and it sucks because very few media outlets cover stuff in Burma and the government certainly doesn't release anything useful. -_-

Finals start on Monday for me so wish me luck. I'm so ready for this semester to be done. I'm in the mood for Christmas! =)

Wooo, one of the best evenings of my life last night! I had a total blast.

A few friends and I went to see a Christmas Concert. It turned out to be a public performance of Annie, The Nutcracker, and various Disney songs by a bunch of 5 yr old girls and one uncomfortable looking 6 yr old boy. After laughing our heads off at the kindergarten esque performance, we left and went to Starbucks to sit and chat. While we were there a couple women walked out into the parking lot and just sat down in the middle of it. (THis is around 10 at night so the parking lot was getting empty) And I declared my intention of going to talk to them. And so I did. I walked over to them and using my 'clever' wit said, "Is this spot taken?" gesturing to the empty parking space next to them. To which they responded with,

"Oh my God, I can't believe you not only came over here, but said that line. *laughing* Forget that spot join us over here" And thus I made two new friends =P We had a funny conversation for about an hour, joking about random stuff and what not, then they had to take off and I went back and joined my friends for a bit longer.

When I finally wandered back into my house and got online, I had a surprise waiting for me in my e-mail. My mom found some reasonable priced tickets, so I get to fly home this Christmas. No 13 hr car drive. I am soooo excited! =D

Edit: SK!!!!!

Druid, good to see you resurface!

I no longer have an interest in the game, but this doesn't mean I have no interest in the people I met playing it.

Well put, bud. Yeah, we've all had a fair share of drama during the great ages of CoH civilized culture, from the official boards, to PCity, to Guruland, but even when I drift in and out of interest with this game, I still find myself being drawn back to the people here.

Hope you stick around for a while!

As history has shown, true heroes are those who stand for what they believe is right. To stay strong to your beliefs in the face of opposition is the source of true success.

Thanks alot man! I also want to thank everyone who tuned into my radio show today on Radio FTW. We peaked at 18 or 19 listeners and got alot of feedback. It was excellent.

Poison and Veikira you two are awesome, thank you two so much for being on the show again. I had a blast interviewing you two. We'll have to get you two back on the show again at some point.

If anyone ever wants to come on the show for anything, just add my Skype handle douglas1077, and think of something to talk about on the show.I love having guests on. =D

Hey Yin! Reformed Tempestria yet?

I went swing dancing tonight and it was a total blast. I've been planning on doing this for a few weeks now, but something always got in the way. One time it was a traffic accident, last time it was food poisoning, but tonight I was ready and determined. SO I went and had an amazing time. I met alot of people there and made a bunch of new friends and whatnot. 3 of who have since spammed the crap out of my facebook. Xl.... lol. Still they were all great people and I am having a blast learning to swing dance!

And my new years party is going to be a blast! If any of you all are going to be in the Yorktown area of Virginia around that time and aren't doing anything, hit me up. It's gonna be a big party with alot of the people I know offline. (mostly not from the game though, just to let you know)

Good to see your life is going well, Druid.

You know how many times I wanted to make up a song about you leaving and post it here? But I refrained. Ah well. :)

As for experience, I knew someone that coulda probably helped you, but we broke up quite awhile ago. Other than that, I've been to Taiwan and may know some people from mainland China with a few ideas. I'll see what I can come up with.

Almost done with the semester. Work on some papers tomorrow which are due Friday and a Formal Logic final on Friday then nothing. Soooo close.

As a side note, it is fun to have a thread to cater to your own narcississtic moods. =P Blah blah blah me blah blah me me blah me blah blah me me ME! =P

I'm having a great time at the close of the semester, I have to say. I've been meeting a ridiculous amount of people. Today a girl I recently met bought me lunch because she loves my eyes. Lol, that was a good meal. Free and good. Plus she's a real fun person.

Since next week is so free from me, I have a few projects I want to work on while I waste time waiting on the 18th. So you may be able to see some of the stuff I have been working on before I disappear for the holidays. Cryo already knows what one of the projects is and a few of you know the other ones, but it's all very hush hush till next week. =P

Also, I have two radio shows for Radio FTW next week. One is a normal show and one is my 12 Day of X-mas show for the station. I kick the 12 Days off, so I want to do a good show. Anything people want to see? Or hear rather...

Also, if you want to come on the show to talk about ANYthing add me on Skype. Handle is douglas1077.
