I'm sure this'll upset a lot of people, but if anyone's been on test, you'd know how much of a fiasco these flight poses have turned into. I'm totally for delaying them until they get it working like it should, the problems they've been causing trying to implement them so far would clearly set back the issue several more weeks or a month while they tried to shoehorn another "fix" in.

Didn't read past the first 50 replies, but I'm shocked.. SHOCKED, I tell you! They are taking it remarkably well over there. :D

Yeah, it sounds like everyone came to the conclusion that they didn't like them, so now they're "happy to see it delayed so it can be done right."
It sounds to me from Positron's post that the real problem were a bunch of bugs that they weren't expecting. And I'd kind of like to see Hover fixed so you stay in the "upright" pose, instead of using the same animation as Fly. (Whatever that turns out to be) Jade Dragon should actually fly in a more upright posture, since he doesn't actually fly under his own power, his mists sort of "hold him up". So except for streamlining purposes, he can pretty much fly in any pose.
Then again, I suppose that's true of Blue Diamond as well. Although he flies in a more traditional sense, presumably through some sort of thrust generated by his body, he can hover. So there may be an anti-gravity field of some kind involved.

Yeah, the upright pose would be swell. I hate flopping forward just to hover slowly toward my enemy.

To people really still choose Flight as a viable travel power? Don't they ever PvP? [/end sarcasm]

LOL that is funny.
Nice to see they're actively working on refining these. I didn't have much of a problem with how they worked (and care even less about hover's animation) but as long as they add the ability to select a preferred flight pose, I'll be happy.

And look at the bright side. At least now we know one feature that'll be in I9: flight poses!

Ah, but now the lack of complaining on the official boards has come to an end. Now there's a whole thread complaining that this means we won't see it until *I10*... :D

Another example of the devs listening to the players' feedback :)

I'm actually impressed, this was a risky move on their part. Also it looks as though CoX has more than one animator now (or they replaced the old one).

Its not that people didn't like the flight poses... alot of people, however, didn't like them all. They have a favorite (or two maybe) and could do without the rest. So, they're gonna hold off on them until they can make the flight poses selectable.
Plus, there was some issue with strafing poses and the whole Hover pose.
I'm glad I already went on the Test server to get my screenies of certain heroes using the new flight poses.

Additionally, I really liked the way Positron handled the post. He told us exactly what was going on and why this was being delayed, and what they were doing to fix the problem.
Since the resulting posts were largely positive, I sent him a PM telling him that they should keep us in the loop like this on more features.
For example, a bunch of people were bitching in another thread because the server transfer feature has been declared as not coming along with I8 as so many people had hoped... Positron had talked about it back around I7's release and apparently suggested it might be out around I8, and now that it isn't the case, people are upset.
It might be more of a calming influence if they told us what their problems with implementing any given feature that fans are clamoring for, and what they are doing to work out those problems. It'd show people that something is still going on rather than the feature their looking for may have just been shelved for future work in favor of something else.

Or people can stop overreacting and assuming things. When a dev says "we're planning on it the next couple of issues", that doesn't mean "you're getting it the next release".

The Earth can stop rotating too.
This is bullshit!
Sike nah. Lmao! I'm sure I pissed someone off with that first line. That's why it's so funny. But anywho, yeah, good for them. Whatever works.

Yeah, that was my lot. I had one pose I preferred over all the others. Didn't notice any bugs with strafing and/or Hover because I don't strafe while airborne and I don't use Hover very often.
I'd have to agree also that I really liked the way Positron laid out the problems with the whole thing. Jack would've said something like, "No flight poses in I8." and that's it.
I dunno what those folks are smokin' with regard to server transfers. I don't expect that to hit until next summer, at the earliest. Folks think that kinda thing is easy to implement and they're half right. It's easy to implement but damn hard to implement RIGHT. And if it's free or the cost is abnormally low, the motivation to get it done right ASAP is even lower (at least from the suits' perspective). People think that just because they can copy a character to Test, that means it's just a matter of flipping a switch to make it possible to do it to all servers. Uh uh. I just hope they find a way to make this addition as successful as it is for SOE (it costs them $5 to move a character between servers and/or accounts. They charge $50 and up to do it) since that would make it a nice little revenue stream which should make the suits happy (and, hopefully, more willing to try other new/experimental things).

I'm glad that they are taking time to make sure they are great because I have a flying main and I want it to look great. I mean I'm happy that when we get it we'll be able to select ours.
By the way, I purposefully barely go near the main boards, but is Posi's avatar a smaller version of the drawing done by our own T!M?
