I've never played a PnP RPG before, are they hard to learn?

I'm just starting to learn myself, but no, it doesn't seem very hard to learn. Quake could give you a better idea of what's it like.

I have never played before either Afterglow. I'm just feeling my way through it now. One of those "learn as you go" things

Good to know that I won't be the only newbie in this.

They are really not hard to learn, although this will be vastly different than a standard game (being on the internet and all). Some points for all you newbies:

1. There are plenty of long time PnP players here to help you,
2. Never be afraid to ask a question. Sometimes, a new player thinks of something that long time players never do, and that's a good thing.
3. Above all, HAVE FUN! :)

most important thing (IMO) about a good pnp rpg game is teamwork.

i've played in far too many games where one of the players has to pull a "look at how much cooler my character is than yours" that makes the game turn into a pissing match.

but the only thing worse than that is the following...

"hi! i'm a munchkin that's gonna throw the story all to hell by my powergaming ways!!!"!11"!11"!1!"!"!"!!!!

so just be kind to your fellow players..

sorry, my only gaming pet peeve buttin just got poked by remembering old gaming groups.

Basically, I have all your stats so don't worry about the rules. I got that covered. Have fun and be as creative with your powers, talents and teammates as possible. You think the first time someone used the "fastball special" they though it was a GOOD idea? ;)

Heh...there's no such thing as a 'BAD' idea....just one that needs to go back to the drawing board for a little more work...:chuckle:

From what I can tell, On the Forums, read the Champions character thread for more info.

This is something I've always been curious about but have never tried. The group I did table top rping didn't care much about superheroes. If if anyone has a group going and don't mind a stupid newb, feel free to send me a pm. I'll also check the other threads for info and find out whats going on. At this point, I only have two questions. Since its forum based, does that mean it will be writting intensive? What happens if people are slow to post (ie does the game slows to a halt and people lose interest)?

Unfortunately, yes. This is a danger. But, as long as people are having fun, we can always egg the slow ones on until they post. :shinner:
