A friend told me players who have been around for 1 year or so get in the cov beta. is this true.

Obviously long time players will be rewarded by being the first to get invites. Who exactly and how and when was not announced. The only thing they mentioned was the 1+ year people first, then the 1/2 year ones.

Which, according to Cryptics own described method of invites, means those of us that's literally been playing since beta should be in the first wave of invites for COV.

I hope that people who were in the beta will get first dibs this time around, I wonder if they will hold the 6 months my account was inactive against me?

Depends on when they were deactivated. If they had an active account for a year, and then deactivated it. They are deserving of an invite. (The Devs will think that inviting them to beta, will lure them back...)

They will - as 12-month subscribers will take priority.

Oh. Crap. I've been paying by 3 month intervals... I HAVE however been activated since beta, and was IN beta for 6-7 weeks. So.... CoV for me!

I don't think he means it's figured on your payment schedule. It's that you've had an active account for the whole 12 month period since release. I pay in 3 month intervals as well.

Here's rumor police.
One paid month = 1 credit.
You need to have 12 credits to get in. In other words, you have to pay for 12 full months before you can be accepted.
If you pay in 3 month intervals, and haven't deactivated your account or missed payments or anything like that, you are good.
Just because you've had an account for a year doesn't mean you'll get in. Those 12 months need to have been PAID.
Well I was in second wave Beta. Couldn't play for a whole semester. Kicked it back up second semester with a small 3-4 day deactivation in between a couple of months.

Also, being a beta tester in CoH means absolutely NOTHING.

Krypto, are you with NCSoft all of a sudden?
Cause as long as you aren't and they haven't announced the official requirements to get in, your claims are about as true as any.

You're incorrect, they have stated official requirements. Do a search on the official forums. Bottom line is this, Poison, if you've paid 12 months you're automatically accepted into beta. If you've paid 6 months, you are the next priority.

Paying every six months says otherwise.
True, but whether you've been with them 2 years, 3 years, or 4 years is irrelevant as long as you have paid for 12 months. That was what I was pointing out.

Bassically he's saying this.
If you've played from April 2004 to April 2005, you're golden. That's just about all most of us need to know, because we have. However, if you deactivated for any conciderable amount of time, you're screwed for first wave invites.

The devs have merely outlined ONE possible way of getting into BETA.

Probably not, but heck, I'd give mine away. I'm more interested in Auto Assault, myself. (Although I'm sure I'll have a villain or two once it goes live)

Don't forget that Beta is supposed to begin in July or August. Which means having a month or two off won't matter. (April to April, plus May and June.)
By Beta, I will have been subscribed for 14 and some months.
Whether those two extra months will matter, I don't know.
(We also don't know thet cuttoff. Plus, after they let in the 1yr. They may then go to 11 month, 10 month...etc. to 6 months. So, if you have 6 months, you SHOULD get in, just not from the beginning of beta.)
Well for those who don't want it I will gladly take it off your hands. :P I thought I was screwed, but I just remembered something. Before I left for school, I had activated my account. That took me all the way to September. When it expired, I reactivated it again because I came home every weekend. This lasted until Thanksgiving. Then I was out of commission for a week or two during the month of December (about a week or so into the month), then cancelled. THEN when I came home for Christmas break, I reactivated it again. That took me all the way to January, and from January to April (with a few weeks of deactivation). My account ended May 6th, and I reactivated it that following Wednesday. Right now, my account will carry me into June.
Don't ask how I remembered all that. Heh. You think I'm safe? If not it's alright. A baseball bat, a uzi, and a couple of psychotic penguins and me will head down Texas to go visit Cryptic. Then all will be settled. ;)

Heh, If someone gets an Invite and doesn't want it, we should set up a CoV Account Timeshare, like those without Invites can pick a time to play or something.

Yeah, that's like the exploits, we'd rather if you wish to discuss them ,not to do it in the forums. What you do on AIm however is your business. :D
