howdy everyone, I made this thread for my upcoming Champions New Millenium RP Thread.
I'll post the point values available for powers when i get home, however the points for stats and option points are listed below.
40 stat points to divide between the following stats.
Intelligence
Willpower
Presence
Tech
Dexterity
Luck
Constitution
Strength
Body
Movement
for the purposes of this game, Reflexes and Dexterity are one and the same, so if a skill tells you to use reflexes, use your dexterity stat.
Luck is a stat that can be temporarily spent to modify rolls, or permanantly spent to prevent death. It can rolled like other stats (for things involving random chance) when rolling luck, use your current luck attribute, not your base luck.
you get 40 option points, with which to buy skills, talents, perks ect. also depending on the situation, the GM may allow you to spend OP (option points) at a rate of 5:1 to gain additional power points. Be prepared to explain why.
you may also take disadvantages to gain more option points. please just keep it reasonable. there was an example used in one of the books that there was a player who created the most powerful being in the universe, but the powers only worked while that character was in the center of the universe, and outside of that point, he was worse than useless (quadrapalegic blind deaf mute that had a galay spanning empire hunting hum down)
ok, now on to the setting.
After the Praetorian War, many of the worlds heroes were wiped off the face of the earth, most of this was because of poor communication and a general lack of teamwork. The situation in the Praetorian war was so bad that even major supervillains of the world joined the fight.
More on the praetrorian war later...
As a result, one of the few organizations to surviv the war relativly intact (The Champions) decided to push for greater cooperation between different supergroups. With the help of some friends from the NSA, The Marksman (then leader of the Champions) Working with several supergroups worldwide, formed a group called Champions Inc.
The beginning was a little rough as supergroups who valued their independance viewed Champions Inc. as a corporate machine, selling heroing to the highest bidder. but one of the best PR departments in the known world slowly fixed that.
The majority of the funding comes from their Merchandising department. (superhero toy and comic book sales are at an all time high)
Now, several years later, the Champions organization has spread worldwide, they are able to offer benefits and retirement packages. and have even started a few schools, Called the "Arcadian Acadamy" which are fully accredited schools ranging from grades K-12. Tuition is covered by the Champions organization, with a lot of assistance from a government grant.
When you make your characters, please keep in mind that they should be teen agers, (13-17 preferred)
I'll have more up later,

Allright! now the fun part. you get 25 points to spend on your powers.
GO TO IT!!! if you need some help with your character, please pm me, i'm more than glad to help out!
I thought the general feeling was that we would try one game at a time?

BTW, the first thing to think of is what type of character you're looking to make, be it the; Martial Arts type, Mr Tank, The creepy psychic, or what have you. Since fuzion and champions are so flexible, odds are if you can think it up, i could help make it, (i've helped make everything from a superhero with multiple personalities (and multiple forms) to a rockstar, and all the way to a dragon.
if i don't et back to you right away odds are that i'm away from the computer, but feel free to leave me a message with your concept, and maybe a few powers you'd like to have. that way i'll have an idea of what to look over here to help you out.

Ok so question.....are we using the 40 points like you said before or 25 now between all those stats? And also, are we still using the Fuzion stuff from that website or do we need to look up Champions stuff?
Radical Dreamer
05-30-2005, 05:26 PM
I think it's 40pts for the stats, 40pts on perks/talents/skills with the ability to take disadvantages for more option points, and 25pts on powers.
Akamaz
05-30-2005, 06:09 PM
yep, it's 40 points for stats, 40 option points, and 20 power points. you can take disadvantages for more option points, and it's the FuzionSystem (champions new millenium)

Ok, for the sake of getting help on this, I'm going to throw out my hero concept for you guys to help me with. He's basically like Giant Man from the Avengers, he can grow really large by absorbing rock and plant life to increase his mass and size, his name is Miracle Grow. like the plant food, but with a w in grow, as opposed to gro. Any and all build help is much appreciated.

two words, growth, and density increase. maybe some knockback resistance and hmm... a pinch of armor
mix well, and voila! instant superhero
some possible limitations you may consider are ones like "only works when in contact with the ground" or if you go with the armor, "ablative" (to smulate rocks and stuff getting knocked off by blasts. another possible power is insta change if you have a certain level you ALWAYS grow to.

You could call him Antaeus. The giant in Greek Mythos that got stronger so long as he was touching the ground.

Oh man. Just made a quick list of powers I'm thinking of taking for Amoeba Man. It's longer then I thought. Don't know if I'll have the points for them all. I may have to shoot Maz off an email for some clarifications on some of these powers. Do they over lap at all, and such.
List
Entangle
Physical Damage Reduction
Lack of Weakness
Presence defence vs Intimidation
Bouncing
Morph Composition
Morph Limbs
Stretching
Morph Shape
Morph Size
Akamaz
05-31-2005, 08:24 PM
well, something you may want to think about AM, is what limitations you were talking about taking to those powers, and another thing to think of is "Power Pools" or Multipowers.
variable power pools allow you to spend points on "group" powers, like all of those morphing powers... you "set aside" a certain amount of power points to be made available to powers with the same special effect (like stretching, entangle, morph height size shape ect)
there is a price you pay for this flexibility tho, to begin with, you spend 4 points to get the variable power pool, then each point after that goes to giving points for the powers in the pool... yu may also want to look at the modifyers available to changing, like "does nto take an action to change"
EVERYONE BE SURE TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU PICK YOUR POWERS TO HAVE A SKILL TO BE ABLE TO USE YOUR POWER!!!"
if you can fly, but have a 0 skill in flying, be prepared to go "the greatest american hero"
remember, when you have no skill not only do you have a lower base number, but the difficulty goes up as well
(in example)
Captain Amazing has a flight of 1 and a dex of 4
Mikoto has a dex of 6 and a flight of zero
to pull off a normal difficulty flight manuver, the number captian amazing needs to roll is a 5 or better (normal difficulty is 10) (skill 1 = stat4=die roll 5 = 10)
to pull off that same manuver, Mikoto would have a difficulty of 12, thus she would need to roll a 6 (stat 6 plus die 6=12) good thing mikoto can phase though walls, because she has a better than even chance of smacking into one til she gets the hang of flying
(disclaimer= Mikoto is not in any way shape or form associated with this particular game, as she is my champions new millenium pet and would not want to fall prey to NPC folly...)

Thanks for the info. Now just three more little questions and I should have my character all ready for posting.
First in the instructions they mention everyman skills. Are you keeping those at the default or are you altering them to reflect the setting any?
Second, does each individual power have to have a skill or can, say, a multi-power pool all share the same skill since they all have a common source?
Third, if your power is an attack blast would having skill in it take the place of marksmanship in terms of accuracy? If it does what if you have a multi pool with both melee and ranged (ie fire sword & fire blast)?

London-born Vivian, Viv to his friends, moved to the states with his parents at the age of 10. When his telekinetic abilities began to manifest at puberty he was enrolled the Academy. What Viv wants to do with his life is his art but it seems that his destiny lies in superheroics. He's "a bit miffed" to say the least. However all is not lost; recently a number of his pieces have began to sell for quite high values and, while his parents still control his finances, he has made quite a personal fortune from his work. Maybe, just maybe, he can do both.
Vivian is currently 15.

So we need to buy an additional skill for *every* power we take? Even if we have to make up our own?
*resigns himself to reading the entire book twice*
actually, the power would be for a power grouping, like if you have a fire blast, an armor piercing fire blast, and a fireball spell, they would all use the same skill.
if there's a skill that already fits your "power" like hand to hand attack for you martial artist types, or marksmanship for you snipers you substitue that skill in place of a seperate power skill (that is your power skill)
the everyman skills are the default given by fuzion.
Deciding if you need to take a skill for a power is pretty much determined by the following: If you need to roll dice to use the power (either to hit, or in some cases as an evasion, or as an activation) then i would recommend taking a skill for it.
Some powers have a skill that they can default to, (to use my above example, Mikoto may have a dex of 6 and a flight of 0, but she does have acrobatics of 7, so depending on the situation, she may be able to use all or part of her acrobatics skill in place of flight. she still would have the higher difficulty of performing the action, but she would have a higher base niumber to work with.

i'd say it all depends on the power, for instance, in CLOT's case he has a multipower that has force fields and flight, in his case he would use one skill for all of the powers in the multi power
in the case of ranged and hand to hand, i'd definately say that those would have seperate skills (in your example, you would have a ranged (ice blast) skill and a hand to hand attack (fire sword) skill
some powers use existing skills, for instance almost all of the sense powers use your perception skill to use them

ok, in answer to frostys question, this is a boarding school, with students from all over the world. the activities are much like any other schools, however, unlike most schools, you have classes in using your powers. This is the start of the new school year at the Arcadian Acadamy (located in sunny Bay City, California) if you want your characters to know one another that's fine by me, the rooms bunk 3 to a room, with shared common areas with another room(basically the rooms are 3 beds (one bunkbed and one regular bed), 3 bookcases and 3 wardrobes (closets) the common areas have tables and chairs. also, one other interesting feature of the arcadian academy. the rooms are all underground. each room has a HDTV "window" that shows a vision of outside directly above the room. of course this can also be used to view TV.
the main reason for this construction is that lots of supervillains would like to prevent getting beat on by heroes in the future by taking out folks before they become heroes.
there is a main school facility above ground, only the rooms are located below. i'll post a picture of the building at a later time.

well, i'd say to take what skills your average teen would take, also you might want to look at a power complication for the "cannot bestunned" it's a power limiter that is called "conditionall" the situation i would recommend is "only when morphed" (only when either grown, or when density is increased) that would save you one power point.

that's fine, tech level is modern day, so if it's modern day stuff, you can get it. as far as the "free" gear it consists of Clothes, Toiletries, and "jkid stuff" that won't effect the game really.
like i said, be reasonable about the free stuff. a pda isn't a big deal, but a Fererri is something you buy with points..

man it's been ever so long since I touched a PnP game though I have almost 2 shelves of books on everything from AD&D to ShadowRealm, including Champions though I think it is version 5.

Madeline’s ability to fold layers of space appeared toward the end of junior high. She and her parents wanted her to have as normal a life as possible, so they attempted to keep her in public school, but the chaos it caused among the other students made them decide that regular schools were no longer an option. Though not wealthy nor influential, they contacted the Academy in hopes that she could receive the education and “extra curricular” training she needs in an environment well-suited to “gifted” students.
Sweet and optimistic, if somewhat eccentric, Madeline is never afraid to give it her best and lend a hand. Madeline is currently 16.

I'm gonna make a few changes to my hero so it's not toooo much of a rush on this end  Besides we're still waiting for everyone's character to be finalized too.
