Hey!

Well I've finally finished one year of college, and it was awesome. As most of you know, I'm an art major majoring in Computer Animation. I actually start Animating at the beginning of next semester, but this year we had to go through the basics: gesturing, placement, angles, etc. To some it was redundant. To others, like me,it was helpful. And I've got something to prove it. Here is a drawing I did at the beginning of the school year of I-Cross:

Here (http://www.freewebs.com/shuggs/cross.JPG)

It's alright. Anatomy is a little off, face is too generic, and everything just doesn't scream,"Oh. That's I-Cross."

But I just did this today:

Mwuhaha. Everything in college pays off. I did it in about ten minutes. Just a pen gesture. I plan on pulling out the real pencils and what not this evening, and then have someone (Veik hopefully! :P) color it. Excuse the sizes. Thought I scaled them down enough. But anywho, that's my alt character, Star-Kid, mentee of Statesman. Tempestria kicked off an ALT supergroup called Ultimate Phalanx. Got inspired enough to do the drawing.

Here's Star-Kid:

Cool. Is that like the teen Freedom Phalanx?

That's really awesome, Yin. Phenomenal improvement between the two sketches. Keep the good work.
Use reference and Keep up that pencil moving! DRAW DRAW DRAW! :)

Gotta love the sudden appearance of all these hidden artists....

Very cool work Thresh!

Keep taking those art classes and like Gollum_ARG said, Draw, Draw, Draw!!!

I cannot tell you how much 2D-Studies and Life drawing helped me while i was pursuing my art degree. If I had the chance, money, and inclination, I'd go back and take more life drawing classes just to have the opportunity to refine my skills in an academic environment. It is really a boon to any artist.

Great job, I can't wait to see more work from you! Keep it up!

Thanks, all! :) Going to actually redo it using a picture of Statesman. I drew him from memory. Hopefully I'll get more detail in the final drawing and what not. :)

Granted I am a little depressed because I couldn't fit the entire image on the scanner, but oh well. Heh. Now I can't take full credit. Thanks to Veik's gallery, I did about a ten-fifteen minute observation study of his methods of using line. We studied this as well in school, and I was compared my knowledge with his. He had the real "comic-booky" type line work, and I wanted that. So after studying a few of his drawings I took my pen and went to work. I'm pleased with how they came out. :P Now just to get someone to color. :P

Seriously, I wish I could take one of my drawings and ink it like that. I just don't have that particular skill, which is why I leave them at the pencil stage.

Lol. Thanks.

It is the reason why my wrist hurts at the moment. Two hours it took to redraw and ink'em. That and a lot of patience. Heh.

Good Work! You can try to scan the other part of the drawing and merge them together in PS or some other programme?

Great work Thresh! )I forgot the name, State's kid? SKid States?) Looks awesome. Statesman's face is a little off on the right, but for a beginner it is amazing. Good luck in college next year. (I get to join the college realm too! :D )
