Brief Personal History:
Peter Quinn first realized he was a mutant as a teenager, when he developed the ability to quickly grow sharp, hair-like spines from his body. When the other kids in his school picked on him because of his powers, he developed a "class clown" personality in order to fit in. Although he couldn't really use his abilities to excel in any kind of sports (he kept popping basketballs and footballs) he still tried to find every opportunity he could to use them in some way. Finally, after he tried out for a superhero team in Canada and was turned down, a friend suggested he come to Paragon City, the "City of Heroes". He had always called himself "The Porcupine", but based on another suggestion from his friend, changed it to use the letters "PQ", his initials.
Although young and inexperienced, PQ did fight crime for a short time in Canada, as well as go through the standard training for the supergroup he applied to. Thus, he has a certain amount of skill with his quills, and isn't likely to fire them off accidently and hit the wrong thing. He tends to act careless, however, and peppers his battlecries with horrid "porcupine" puns, so it's hard to take him seriously. He's quite intent about using his powers for the good of others, though, and is more likely to try and defend the innocent instead of being the first to charge at his foes.
