Here's the trailer for the Ghost Rider movie, which I think is coming out in Feb?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oGjsPYLb9xU
Just got back from it. It was...pretty entertaining. I would say it's a bit better then Hellboy but for some reason I feel...unfulfilled. I mean I liked it. But I wish there was a bit more Story and Struggle. Nick Cage didn't do that bad of a job, but I think personally it prooves that if you use a well known actor to play a part like that it kind of takes something away from the experience. You see Nick Cage playing Ghost Rider rather than seeing Ghost Rider...know what I mean?
It's worth a movie ticket. See it with the wife and kids they might like it to.
Thumbs up for Eva's wardrobe...;)

Does it do the comic justice?
I honestly couldn't Tell you. I know of Ghost Rider but I don't know about him.

I'm a huge ghost rider fan. I'm going to see it tomorrow, so I'll post my ever hard-to-please-perspective after I've seen it.

My church youth group called to say they were going to lunch and then to see the movie and invited me to go. I may be a bit off as its been a while since I've seen the ghost rider show(loved that but it may not have explained it there) and I never read the comic, but I find it kinda funny/ironic that my church is going to see it. Come to think of it, at least more closely, isn't he like one of the 4 horsemen or something, just he has the motorcycle instead of the horse or something?

I went with 3 other friends of mine, just got back. One or two very minor spoilers below.
The movie itself was decidedly medicore. Eva Mendes was ok, and hey, she's hot. Nick Cage can't act his way out of a wet paper bag ("THIS IS MY I'M IN PAIN FACE!") Mephisto and Blackheart being in the movie WOULD have been cool, but they're just guys in suits in the movie. Sam Elliot is awesome. There is some very bad writing at some points, but the action was decent enough to keep me interested. The only thing I noticed that they changed was that it was his real dad who died instead of his stepdad. One of the guys I went with said it best: "It's better than Hulk."
The best part of our trip to see it wasn't even the movie. We went to a place called the Alamo Drafthouse, which is basically a place where you can order food and drinks during the movie. The waitress who was with us thought one of the other guys in our group and myself were a couple. The other two died laughing and I messed with him the rest of the time, telling him to not try and get fresh with me after the movie and to call me afterwards.

No, Ghost Rider is not one of the 4 Horsemen, though if he ever went toe-to-toe with them he would probably destroy them. At least the 4 horsemen of Apocalypse, the mutant, at any rate.

I liked it. It was about as faithful to the comic as you can get given that it's a movie and the comic is REALLY complicated.

I like how Jonny Blaze is in pain as he changes, then he kinda goes all insaine. I loved his laugh when he goes further into the change.
Is that like in the comic?

Just got back from seeing the movie. Was it good? Yes. Could it have been better? Yes. Was I predjudiced because I think Nic Cage is a talentless hack? Yes.
My main complaint wasn't about the story but about Blackheart. With all the effects that they had on GR couldn't they have found a way to do him correctly even if it was just at the end?

They did Ghost Rider really well I think. But I just couldn't get into the movie. Things could have been better, but they could have been worse.

I'd say wait for FF:Rise of the Silver Surfer. It's going to kick more ass than a one legged midget.
I would say see it in the theater once just for the effects. That chain is really good. So are the bike effects. You do need to leave your sense of reality at the door though. *Riding up the side of one of the tallest buildings in the city. . .yeah right*
Could have done without the stupid Elvis-wannabe postures though. I kept waiting for someone to come along and break his fingers.
And I agree those previews always get me for FF2 and Spiderman 3. They also had another one for a movie called The Invisible that looked pretty interesting.
I would say it's definatly something you should see in the theater. Specially if you're a fan. (I love his look but never followed him, might start)
If you don't have a big TV and surround sound with two nice woofers...see it in Theaters, it's just not the same on tv. :)

It's a great time to start reading Ghost Rider, T!M. His new ongoing is pretty good, and there's a new mini coming out soon, plus there's a one shot with his origin, and a pretty good mini that came out a few years back.

Ug, besides the short fight scenes, this was my only complaint. I wanted to scream "BUTTONS! They're called BUTTONS!" She reminded me why I can't stand these half-assed love stories in super hero movies. Damn you Katie Holmes. Daaamn you!
THey were nice and.....shiney looking. I remember she was in a resterant at one point. And I'm honestly not trying to be funny but I have no idea what happened in that whole scene. I was fixated on her chest. :yoy:

I say wait for DVD. The fight were scenes were pretty awesome, but at the same time the action was kinda slow and really short.
But yeah, FF2 is going to blow everything away. Just the Trailer gives me goosebumps. I'm actually seeing it being a great rival for Spider-man 3.

We thought the fight scenes were kinda crappy actually. They didn't last too long and GR delt with the villains waaaaay too fast (with the exception of Blackheart).
When the previews originally came out online we thought that GR looked really bad. But the final product proved otherwise. GR looked really cool. And the bike and chain effects were really well done.
It would've been nice to see Blackheart in his Romita Jr. designed look, and Mephisto in his long red undies and cape.... oh well.
It wasn't a masterpiece but I don't think anyone expected it to be. For what it was, it was a decent movie and overall pretty enjoyable. No regrets about paying to see it.

Couldnt have said it better than the Havok's. I dont know what most people expect when they go to see a movie now a days. Its a form of entertainment, dont expect anything else. I liked it, Ghost Rider is such a badass concept and they did it justice.

Yeah but we got to see Katie Holmes nipple impressions on her shirt, so she wasn't wearing a bra either. Of course, we can take this a step further back in time to the famous kiss-in-the-rain scene with spider-man and Kirsten Dunst, when her shirt is all wet and we have a clear view of her boobs. So, actually, in Ghost Rider they have taken some steps in showing less, but still leaving us to believe it's more. Good work comic book film industry.

Has everyone forgotten about Sue in the first Fantastic 4 movie? The ONLY scene that you couldn't see her cleavage in was when she just got out of the shower and had the full robe on (anyone else see the irony in that?)
Comic movies and cleavage (wet shirts) go hand in hand. i for one enjoy it :chuckle:

OK, I saw the movie last night and thought it was horrible. As said, all the cool parts were way too short giving the movie more time for cheesy dialogue and one liners.

Indeed, lots of fingers being pointed in this film. Went to see it with my buds, the guy in the local paper gave it a *** Review. And after seeing that I bet he was paid off for it. It was a cheesy comic book movie, but no three star film in my book.
My friend and I both agree that it'd be funnier if they would have distorted Nick Cage's voice when he was the Rider, rather then a whole new voice. It was alright, nothing to special and I'd watch it again on TV, but wouldn't buy the DVD.
Now I just gotta ask this one question for the folks that also saw the film.. When he was first turning into the Rider, do you or anybody else yell.. NOOO!! NOT THE BEES!!! THEIR IN MY EYES!! AHHH!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6i2WRreARo)

Just got back from seeing it.
It was pretty much alright, for a comic book movie. It was clearly superior than Daredevil (a.k.a. Worst Comic Book Movie Ever), which is saying something considering both films had the same director.
The special effects certainly deliver. Ghost Rider is chillingly awesome to just stare at, and fun to root for as he tosses all manner of street thugs and hooligans around like ragdolls. His look, the bike, and the action visuals are just really great.
Unfortunately, the story can't help but stumble over itself at several points throughout. There's a lot of chance encounters and unexplained coincidences, like when Blackheart just happens to show up for no good reason right when Johnny Blaze transforms into the Ghost Rider for the first time.
The great Sam Elliot serves as a palpable mentor, but after he departed, I found myself wanting a better explanation of his character and the things he does. Eva Mendes, while making great for eye candy, is sadly handed a simplistic role as Johnny's ex-turned-insta-girlfriend.
The plot is mildly interesting up until the final act, when it becomes strangely evident that the villain's plan really doesn't seem to make him any more powerful then he already was.
Ghost Rider fans should see it in the theaters. Everyone else will probably be satisfied with a rental.

I rather enjoyed it. First movie I saw in a while (College is hard) and did like the parts. The pointing was rather bizzare and I got a laugh from the fat goth chick. There were equal times of funny scenes and action scenes.
This would have been a horrible movie if Nic Cage's voice was like Sam Elliots in that one scene.

As I said in the theatres while watching this: "This movie is made up of equal parts awsome and suck." I could see the potential for a really cool movie, some of the Ghost Rider scenes were pretty cool.
But there was so many horrible scenes!
The extremely cheesy humour
the deamons attacking one at a time (don't villains EVER learn?! :D)
the caretaker ride which seemed to have no point (you had one ride left in you and you spent it on just riding aout there and saying goodbye? Why?!)
the pointless water deamon scene (seriously, why was this scene here?)
Speaking of the water deamon, that set looked so painfully fake. Like out of Xena: Warrior Princess or something :D
Using the "My name is Legion" line.
Blaze can just keep his powers and use it against Mephistoles? Why? How? Has he no control over the rider all of a sudden?
I had a great time watching it, but most of it was because the movie was so bad it was better to laugh than to cry. The action scenes were cool though. The movie would have been a lot better if it had taken itself just a tad more seriously though.

Just saw it. It was fun, but I wasn't expecting much. Certainly not nearly Elektra or Catwoman bad. Maybe better then Daredevil. It had a enough Iconic scenes to be fun, but missed on a lot of others. By the way <spoilier sort off> Why ride 500 miles to say "Well that was fun, good luck"
Still Sam Elliot is still the coolest mentor badass on the planet for like 20 years running now.
