Well, school has started, and the ballet season starts up (I plan to be performing again this year after semi-retiring last season). So, it's time for me to say (sort of) goodbye to you all, since my free time will be exceedingly limited until next June. :(
I'm really, really bummed because I was starting to get some good RP momentum with some folks, and now it'll be hard to keep that going.
That said, this year promises to be far less harrowing than the last two. I don't have a ridiculous commute anymore, I have a *bomb* schedule this year (three class periods teaching, then plan-prep-lunch right back to back, then three more class periods teaching), this year's incoming freshmen are really nice, motivated, positive kids, my upperclassmen are the same awesome people they've always been, I've finally set my room up the way *I* want it (and screw the incumbent teacher--she can change it back when she gets back from maternity leave if she wants), and I've handed in my course proposal and feel really good about it. The only thing that would make this school year better is if my course proposal got approved. *crosses fingers*
On the dance front, my teaching schedule is such that I'll be able to fit in one to two classes per night, which will really keep me in shape for the season. Our season is light this year (just two ballets from our standard repertory, no new works), so my AD should be cheerful for most of the season and I don't have a ton of new choreography to memorize. :) And I'll still have room for yoga and bellydance. Plus I've been put in charge of the company school's open class division, and I've also been asked by a local high school to choreograph their musical. The ballet company has its annual wine tasting/silent auction fundraiser tomorrow night. I'm so excited! A chance to get dressed up in the middle of the week! Wahoo! I'll try to post pictures if I can get any taken.
So... yeah. Not a lot of room for CoH. :( Sorry to be so rambly. I'm just excited about this year.
I'll be in touch when I can, and I'll try to get IG, it just won't be as often as in summer.
So... bye for now, my friends. I miss you already. :(
