I guess we will be using the Marvel system. So, if you want to be dm, post any experience you have, and maybe a scenario. Then, I guess we'll vote on it.

I can DM but I'd like to know what kind of characters everyone wants to play and what the world settin will be. I'd rather the stroy revolve around characters rather than just let them hop into it.

So, we're using the old Marvel system then? I only ask cause the poll reads 4 for Marvel and 4 for M&M. I personally don't care which one we use. And if we are using Marvel, what are the means by which we create characters? Are we using the random method? If not, what then?

Sorry for the torrent of questions, I'm just excited to get started. :)

Ditto! I only volunteered cause marvel was in the lead but then someone goofed it up. :p Random or modeled if I'm running. Like if you wanted to play Amoeba Man from CoH or had a concept in mind. Or you can use this.

How about we define X number of ranks availaible and let players gen charatcers from there, or just trust people to come up with balanced characters based around guidelines from the GM.

How about Street level. Gives more room for advancement and creativity and less worrying about saving the whole world and more about people. Power levels above amazing are discouraged depending on the power. This is assuming we are using Marvel and I am GM.

I'm all for this.

Okay, Quake, looks like you're it. Give me some guide lines on making characters (limits, books being used, etc), and I'll work one up.

The Ultimate Powers book is the end all be all for Marvel generation. Try to keep it Street Level so nothing over Amazing (which is unlikely). If you have a character in mind, say Masked Revenger, he can be modeled.

On of the links I posted in one of the other threads has an addendum to the UPB. Seems they missed some powers in Self Alterations and forgot to list some of the columns to use for some of the character types. I'll find it and repost it here.

Edit: Here are those PDFs. Of course you'll have to ask Quake if you can use any of the new powers.

So in reality, when looking at Strength compared to the Amazing rating for power levels, what would be the maximum weight limit for lifting objects?

Also, can someone explain to me what all of the attributes for the Marvel system mean, or at least direct me to a link that can? And, what would be the maximum amount of Hit points I can use? I plan on using Noble as a tank, so I'd like to know. :)

The Marvel resource thread (http://www.cohguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=757) has a link to just about all you'll need. This PDF (http://homepage.mac.com/zan/Marvel%20Super%20Heroes%20(Classic)/Rulebooks/JudgesBook/judges-screen.pdf) is the Judges screen. On the 7th page is the Power Rosters, which helps explain the ability scores by rank.

Abilities are Fighting, Agility, Strength, Endurance, Reason, Intuition, and Psyche.

Fighting - A sheer measure of your hand to hand fighting.
Agility - encompasses reflexes and and hand eye coordination
Strength - raw lifting power
Endurance - Your stamina
Reason - IQ
Intuition - a measure of perception
Psyche - Willpower

Your health is the total of you FASE and your starting karma is the total of You RIP.

Amazing is high end human in everything except strength where it is midrange superhuman.

Amazing fighting is maximum human, akin to Captain America or Batman.
Amazing Agility is Olympic Gymnast class.
Amazing strength is able to pres 50tons(see? superhuman).
Amazing Endurance is I believe Superhuman (doing this from memory).
Amazing Reason is able to dissect alien tech or invent extreme inventions, like Reed Richards or Dr. Doom.
Amazing Psyche is fantastic strength of will.

So...another question....since we're staying below amazing, are there any powers we should avoid picking up?

Not really. Anything can be extreme depending on it's power lvl and the creativity of the person using it. Technically, the Taskmaster only has Total Memory and he's terribly dangerous.

The Power control powers are some of the most powerful in the game by their very nature. Two of the strongest are Nemesis and Duplication. Slight problem with those is their screaming weakness. What if the guy/girl you're facing has no powers but a very large gun? Answer: RUN!

Amoeba Man brought up an interesting point. Two people voted who are not likely to play. One of them I'm fairly sure voted for Marvel. That poses a question, if not Marvel, who's going to GM?

Are the MM books avalable online for next to nothing?

If not let's stick to Marvel. It's free and we have at least four characters written up for it already.

Yeah, while I'm still figuring out how to make a character without it being random, I'd say stick to Marvel.

I'll play either system, and have even submitted a character.

Having given the rules a quick once over, and liking the Hero System rules that seem very similar, I plan on at least making myself a character. :)
