Dave Perry of Shiney Entertainment has just announced 2Moons, "the most violent MMOG ever made". You can see the news here. (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/gameId/267/setView/features/loadFeature/799) Of note:

1) He expects it out in six months - it's based on a Korean game Dekaron but is being heavily revamped (apparently).

2) It will be free to download and free to play. Revenue will come in through paid advertising in the UI.

Interesting. I'm a pseudo-fanboi of Shiney's output, but I expect this project, like so many others, to be flawed genius. Question is: will the flaws be too big to notice the genius?

Hey, it's the guy who came up with Earthworm Jim! And the game is free, so no hurt in trying it. This and Conan sound like they'll entertain me well and maturely! :D

I agree. I figure it's going to be free to start up with (I assume you'd pay to remove the ads) and that it will cost me nothing to uninstall the game should it suck.

As a side note: I love a genre where "mature" is defined as "bloodthirsty and ultra-violent". :-D

No, in the interview it says that you can simply turn off the advertisement without drawback, but that the players who decide to have it in will receive exp and other boni, which is a great idea.

Most violent eh?

Only until the Itchy & Scratchy MMOG comes out. :D

I obviously wasn't paying attention during this bit :-)
