I'll run it by the big guys and see what they say.
Thank you. :)

I've also taken a long, hard look at Widdy's old Hero card and that--along with a few requests to come up with Hero cards for other Heroes--I've decided that the Hero card's template needs a facelift and a more "efficient" design. So here's what I came up with:

http://img227.exs.cx/img227/3808/TemplateHero2.jpg

Oh...by the way, the card image is 197 pixels by 146 pixels. And the card designations ("Hero" and "Event" and all) are 12-point Comic Sans Serif font. Just so you know. :)

The Widowed
04-12-2005, 06:38 AM
It was just like riding a bike, I swear.

But after taxing my brains for a few hours, I finally came up with a new format for the Hero cards. And from a motley consisting of my own Main, two regulars who requested Hero cards of their own Heroes and one who's just a really cool guy, I dredged up the first batch of new Hero cards. And so I give you...the first batch of new Hero cards.

http://img185.exs.cx/img185/5716/HeroWidowed.jpghttp://img185.exs.cx/img185/8751/HeroTarkenchi.jpg
http://img185.exs.cx/img185/4822/HeroTarberetta.jpghttp://img187.exs.cx/img187/6563/HeroYin.jpg

Make Mama proud, little cards....

The Widowed
04-12-2005, 06:48 AM
So I decided to balance the Hero Cards by allotting each card eight points to be distributed among Attack and Defense. This provides a more even playing field, with the points allotted as if all Heroes depicted in the CCG were of equal Security Level. Some Heroes are balanced, some are more offensive and some are more defensive.

I have also decided that each Hero Card should have one superpower (now with colorful flavor text) which is roughly equal in power or utility to those of all other Hero cards.

And the Origin and Archetype for each has been compacted into their respective symbols in the upper right corner...five Origins and seven Archetypes in all. And I was getting frustrated over cooking up all these symbols before I realized that there's a perfectly attractive set of them spread all over D'Arkaine's Crey Industries site. And so I "borrowed" them.

Thanks, D'Arkaine. You have a great site. :)

I hate to take something without giving something in return, so this one's for you. I hope you like it.

http://img185.exs.cx/img185/6578/HeroVindicator.jpg

And with that I'm off to bed. I wonder if I'll get to make anymore cards tomorrow....

I like your avatar title too. "Kitty?" As if there were any doubt.... :D

Anyway, I just had to go back and fix Yin's card (His head was too small, but not anymore). And I got to realizing that there really hasn't been anything posted about any CCG rules...at least, not since Morc and I were tossing ideas back and forth on PCity 1.0. I may have to come up with a few pics for a few ideas we've come up with. Stay tuned.

Kurai Inago
04-12-2005, 08:51 PM
Well... I don't have anything else to do right now, so I think I'll post some of the system I came up with.

Card Types
There are several card types, Hero, Villian, Zone, Event, Inspiration, Enhancements, Endurance (My verson of mana or land or whatever it is magic used) Powers and I think that's all.

Hero Cards
Hero cards have a few basic stats, them being health, Power, and Resistance/Defense.

Health- how much health a hero has... Duh. It's starting number is on the card and is kept track of through counters.

Power- How much a hero can hit for without using a power.

Resistance/Defense- How much damage a hero can avoid/block

Heroes also have listed powersets allowing them to use power cards from said sets.

Pool powers may be used by any hero.

Some heroes also may have special signature effects.

Heroes also cost a certain amount of endurance to put on the battlefield.

Villain Cards
-Have an end cost
-Have the same stats as heroes
-Have powers included on the card, and cannot make use of power cards.
-Can only be played when zone card permits, or a player uses an Ambush! event card.

Zone Cards
-List villians that can be played, along with a few special effects.

Event Cards
- Event cards can cause many varied effects on the gameplay, such as awarding enhancments, stat-boosts, playing other cards, and so on and so forth.

Inspirations
- Basicly work the same way as ingame (Respites heal, Awakens bring heroes back from the hospital, Enrage adds to damage I actually haven't come up with anything for insight yet....)

Enhancements
-Add to a heroes stats for the remainder of the game.

Endurance
-All cards have an endurance cost, as all card have a mana cost in many other card games.

Powers (AKA The long part)
- Can be used by any hero with the needed powerset listed. (Ex: a Blaster can't use a scrapper's powers and vice versa)
- Pool powers can be equipped and used by any hero.
-Powers have an endurance cost.
-Powers have various effects, such as damage, stat boosts, increased movement ability etc.
-Powers have a set amount of recharge turns
-Different powers work in different ways

Power Workings
- Click: Simple, pay the cost, hit the target.
- Toggle: causes a stat change for as long as it's endurance cost is payed each turn
- PbAoE's: Hit everything hostile within an X sized area of your hero.
- Cone Aoe's: hit everything within X squares of the target (AKA the blast moves to the target, hitting a few things to the side as well)
- Targeted AoE's: Hit everything hostile withing an X sized area of the target

Effects
Disorent- Effected card is not allowed to act for X turns, however they are allowed to move around the battlefield.

Hold- Card is not allowed to act in anyway for X turns.

Immoblize- Card is not allowed to move for x turns.

Slow- Plus x recharge turns to all of a targets equipped powers

Drain- Opponent discards X endurance cards.

Burn- X extra damage is dealt for X turns.

Darkness- Flip a coin, if tails, your power misses. Darkness lasts for X turns.

Knockdown- Flip a coin, if heads, target cannot attack during the next turn.

Knockback- Flip a coin, if heads, send target back 1 space.

Placed Items- Any card that steps into trapped area will be effected.

Auto Powers- Activated at all times. Add X stat to hero permanetly

Shields- Add x to Targets defense

Heal- Add x to targets health

The Battle Field
-Composed of four lines (AKA Ranged for each side, and a melee area for each side)
-You can line up as many cards as you want. (AKA you can move side to side infinitely.)
- Cards can move freely on the battlefield grid.
-The Battle Field has a gound and sky level.

Well, I'm fricken tired of writing now... So if you care, I'll finish putting this down later.

Hey, how do I get one too?!
I wish I could, Quake, but in order to determine a Hero's capabilities and tendencies, I need the information contained in a Crey profile and, preferably, experience with the Hero as a teammate as well. But perhaps a few lines containing details about Quakester would do....

I was able to get Sonic Star done, along with two of my favorite Tankers. And I'll have to read up on on all that you typed there, Kurai, but it looks good so far. I was thinking of merging knockbacks, knockdowns and knockups into one status (Knockdown) for the CCG, and scoring a Knockdown would mean 1) the Hero or Villain hit would immediately be unbonded with any Zone that he (or she, or it) was bonded to--losing all of its benefits--and 2) the Hero or Villain's Attack would be reduced to half until the beginning of the next turn. We could come up with something if we put our heads together, I'm sure.

Merry Christmas!

Velvet Vein is not what you would call the most pleasant person to talk to, let alone touch. All villains in combat with him suffer a penalty to their "attack rating" due to their extreme reluctance to touch him. (Vahzilok villains are immune to this effect)

Please Widdy, NOT Domino's! Domino's has supplanted Pizza Hut at the very bottom of my pizza delivery list. I won't call any chain unless there are no other choices and I'll call Papa Johns or Pizza Hut before I call Domino's.

Surely there must be a REAL, locally owned pizzeria that delivers somewhere near you. It's not real pizza unless olive oil drips down your arm when trying to eat it. :D

We went with Imo's Pizza instead, just because we had a coupon. But I didn't eat any because I was too busy playing CoH. Then she went to bed and I was still up playing CoH. And I'm just now going to bed.

I hadn't played for two days or so. Maybe I was going through withdrawal.

Now where did she leave the leftover pizza...? O_o

Awww Widdy! I never saw my card until just now!

<feels horrible>

It looks fantastic! Thank you so much! :-D <unabashed hug>
*hugs back*

Don't feel horrible. It was kind of buried on Page 3. Or was it 4? Yeh, I think it was 4. But that was still quite a bit for a new visitor to the topic to browse, wasn't it?

(...and just to back Sally: I have never in my life eaten Domino's pizza and I never will. The epicure in me won't allow it to pass my lips, and they give millions per year in contributions to an organization that I politically and ethically cannot abide. Please don't order "Demono's" pizza!) :)
I didn't realize that Domino's has such a bad reputation. They're not donating to the Ku Klux Klan or anything, are they?

In any case, I love the card. I'm honored and flattered. Thank you so much!
You're welcome. Too bad it's too large to fit in a sig, eh? :D

I don't know. I object to Domino's simply because they have cheapened thier product the most of all the national chains. If you have the time, money, and inclination to try an experiment, order a single topping pizza from each of the chains and compare them. I find that Domino's ingredients are the least flavorful and the least abundant of the nationals.

Back when they were the only delivery service in town, this may have been ok. Now, however, when so many places deliver, the Domino standard is at the bottom of the heap.

Not that the other chains are much better. I have gripes with all of them.

Pizza Hut: Gee, can I have some pizza with my salt? Their pepperoni has enough salt to keep it preserved for eons.

Papa John's: Of all the chains, they come the closest to getting it right. The big problem? Their sauce tastes funny and their vegetables are chopped too finely. I like my veggies in larger pieces.

Hungry Howies: I swear they must use an airbrush to apply the sauce.

Pizza Quik: Mmmm... particle board.

Those are the chains in my neck of the woods. Fortunately, we have a buttload of mom&pop pizzerias that deliver. There really is no comparison. Even the worst one flat out does circles around the best chain pizza.

Drat. Now I am craving a slice of six-cheese pizza with mushrooms and hot peppers from Demetrio's and they are not open at this hour. :(

Imo's isn't bad. Cecil Whitakers (sp?) is what I usually have everytime I come come. Fortells is good too, but they don't deliver. Good thing I live REALLY close to the place. :)

I'll never eat at Pizza Hut again, I paid almost 10$ for a pizza about the size of my fist... Thank god, my friends had ordered "all you can eat" and I just took from his plate.

Oh and neat cards!

I must be strange or something. My two favorite pizza chains are Pizza Hut and Dominos (Little Ceasers is in third) I might like PH because well.... I like to eat pure salt, so the saltyness is a good thing for me. Only good local place is Romas. And they don't deliver to where I live.

Thank you, Cryo. I was wondering where my favorite little Goth girl had gone. Well, yes, it was Second Life, but still.... :)

<sneaks in and whispers>

For answers to your questions about Domino's check the spam forum. I don't want to derail the thread.

Thanks again, Widdy, for the fabulous card! ;)

These cards very well done, If you pitched the idea to Cryptic or someone you might be able to have something done with it

Yeah it is.

@Widow: Try snatching up a programm called "Magic Workstation". This tool was created to be an alternative to the Magic Online Game. The cool thing is, that you can even create your ver yown card games and cards.

Like this one (it is your card, just a bit "enhanced"):

Is there any particular site where I can download Magic Workshop?

SWEET!

i want to make a Maveric card for ****s and giggles. How do you determine the abilities of a hero? You can check Mav's Crey File if you need more info on his background and abilities. The main thing I'm interested in is his flexability, effectiveness as far as abilities goes.

i had a couple of ideas for a CoH card game that i posted in the pre-beta forms (before the system got re-vamped) but have long since disappeared. I'd be happy to share any ideas about the mechanics, if your interested... otherwise, i's just like to make a Mav card :)

-Mav

i used to play magic long ago, i also wonder what Mav would be if he were a card in Magic: The Gathering? i think he kind of reminds me of Eron the Relentless (* i'll post a reference later)

Though the site is down at the moment. Hope it comes back up soon. He has a collection of Monty Python cards that he created... funny as hell.

Absolutely Awsome. So how do you play? If you have the time, could you make me one? I would try to make one myself, but have no idea how the game is balanced.
