Hey! I have that techno song! It's by Black Sun Empire I believe.

Are the graphics for EVE this good?

Yes, they are. At least since the new graphic upgrade they are putting in. The whole thing is in game footage.

And that techno song is awesome, you know the name off hand? *pulls up Limewire*

Aw man, I loved EVE. It's an excellent game, towards the end I just didn't have time to play it properly though.

I believe it's "Future Frame" by Black Sun Empire.

Eve is great. It's probably one of the best mmorpgs out there, but it's targetted at a very hardcore gamer type of playerbase. The possibilities can be really overwhelming for new players and the game requires a lot of time and effort in order to progress. Not to mention that it's easy to lose everything if you do something wrong.

But if you're willing to take that risk, EVE can be very immersive and rewarding.

That's exactly the reason I never played it out of beta... a LONG time ago. It's also why I didn't setup an account the LAST time one of their trailers compelled me too.

I believe it's "Future Frame" by Black Sun Empire.

Thanks.

I gave it a try and enjoyed it, but there was too much thought and time I had to invest in anything and stopped playing my trial when I blew pretty much all of my cash somehow and was having great difficulty in making it up.

Not really my type of game, I'm not into driving a space ship and blowing other ones up. I like fighting games better :D

Earth & Beyond had that exact same type of vibe, watching that brought back a lot of old memories. Back when Sunset was announced, the majority of EnB refugees went to EVE, and now I can definetly see why. However, based of player testimonials I've heard, it was a very complicated and difficult game to get in to. As I was watching that I was hoping it was a new Homeworld RTS type of game, or a new space based MMO.

Now I feel like giving EVE a try, dangit.

Well, go for it man, it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
But comparing EVE to EaB is like comparing Shadowbane to CoH. :P

MMORPG.com (http://www.mmorpg.com/eve_trial.cfm) has one, you just need to make an account for it.

Here's (https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?aid=100972&nogreet=1) your trial, but I have no idea about using your own wotsit.

If I remember correctly, navigation in EVE is more autopilot-based. In other words, it's rather a "point and click" type of thing. So while a joystick may work, it probably wont be very practical.

I see, well it still looks worth a try, does anyone else still play it?

After playing for two days, I'm surprised to say that I'm fairly enjoying it. I haven't done much combat yet (but I just bought a lvl 3 frigate I plan on loading with missles). Yes, the game is very complex and the menus take some time to master, but movement isn't at all difficult, as I had heard so many times before. Its just a bit boring, seeing as I can complete an entire mission without actualy being at the computer, just set destination and turn on the autopilot. The skill progression also takes some getting used to. You can only train one skill at a time per account, which can takes a really long time (to be able to even fly my new frigate, I have to train a skill for 12 hours and 45 minutes - luckily this will be done by the time I get home).

All in all, this game isn't so bad as I had heard....so far.
