While I'm waiting for Rachel to get out of the shower so we can go to Applebee's...

Is there any chance of each individual supergroup getting their own forum in here? I can immediately begin transferring all the old Urban Bushido posts from the old site once this happens.

We'll show oGaming yet.

We're only polite to people who stay less than 2 weeks and movie crews.

After that, watch your back mister!

The Canadian giant robot is made of real beer and donuts. It is highly effective but prone to falling apart as it's made with second-hand components purchassed from Russian and England.

The Alabama robot is made of beer cans and empty promises. It exists only conceptually on paper, and all its funding was spent on strippers in Gulf Shores.

Just in case PCity ver. 2.0 should die tonight, I'm going back to the Urban Bushido forums and dropping a few lifeboats. Once we get an actual Urban Bushido forum here, I can copy and paste again....

The Benefits and Duties of Rank: A Breakdown

Gokyu
• The Gokyu gets to claim Urban Bushido membership and may wear the supergroup colors (of course).
• The Gokyu may be called on for Urban Bushido teams, exhibitions and other massed details or festivities.
• The Gokyu is expected to respect the good judgement of any active Shodan or Hachidan in any conflict or serious decision, just as the Shodan or Hachidan is expected not to be tyrannical or frivolous with such decisions.
• The Gokyu may vote in any open council called at the behest of a Shodan or a Hachidan. The Gokyu is also expected to lend counsel or advice to any Urban Bushido member who requests it.

Shodan
• The Shodan may judge prospective Heroes and--if the Shodan judges them worthy--may invite the Heroes to Urban Bushido, in compliance with guidelines. In absence of a Hachidan, the Shodan is expected to render good judgement on permitting Dark Melee Scrappers or other "questionable" prospects who require evaluation.
• If a Gokyu meets or exceeds all standards for Shodan rank, the Shodan may promote the Gokyu to Shodan rank. It is solely the Shodan's decision if the Gokyu's powers and uniform are acceptable for the promotion.
• The Shodan may take part in any council to vote on suggestions, minor rules or minor implementations which do not drastically alter the status or mission of Urban Bushido, either in-game or out-of-game.
• The Shodan may assign punitive action to any Gokyu who is found acting in violation of Urban Bushido standards (ie. griefing, harassment, excessive vulgarity or abusiveness, etc). Such actions are left for the Shodan's good judgement but may include an award of damages from the offending Gokyu to the victim (conducted through the Shodan), assigned missions or other duties, temporary suspension or temporary dismissal from Urban Bushido (permanent dismissal should be conducted with a Hachidan's approval), trial by combat or imposed debt accumulation (ie. "See that Kraken who's about ten levels over you? Run up and punch him."). Again, the Shodan must be both fair and decisive with any such judgement.
• The Shodan may assume a sensei role for "public training sessions" and similar gatherings. If a Hachidan is present, this role may be requested by or bestowed unto the Shodan. If no Hachidan is present, the Shodan may (and should) assume the role immediately.
• Whether a Hachidan is present or not, the Shodan may call such a gathering into order if no business is pressing; The gathering may be dispersed at any time by the acting Shodan, two or more other Shodan who oppose the gathering or one Hachidan who opposes the gathering; The opposing Shodan or Hachidan are expected to explain their decision to the acting Shodan (ie. "We can't hold a demonstration for the public now. We've been called to fend off a Winter Lord invasion.").
• Grievances among Gokyu may be brought to a Shodan's attention, and the Shodan may arbitrate with his or her best judgement. The Gokyu are expected to respect the Shodan's decision. If the Gokyu feel that the Shodan's decision was unfair, they may appeal with either a Hachidan or another Shodan; The Hachidan or the alternate Shodan is expected to confer with the arbitrating Shodan and determine if the judgement was fair after all or--if the verdict was indeed unfair--bring the grievance to a reasonable resolution.
• In an all-Urban Bushido team, a Shodan is expected to act as the team leader unless a Hachidan is present. The Gokyu are expected to transfer leadership to the Shodan, but the Shodan would be within rights to transfer leadership to a Gokyu, as long as the reason is good; Training a Gokyu to lead by offering the leadership role is acceptable, but making a Gokyu lead because the Shodan is lazy or unsure of himself is not. Good Shodan are expected to lead from the front, but leading while away from the team may also be acceptable, given circumstances (ie. luring enemies away, setting up an ambush or clearing a safe retreat point). The Gokyu should listen to a Shodan's decisions, and the Shodan should ensure the well-being of the Gokyu.
• In any unusual event where two or more Urban Bushido teams must coordinate with each other (ie. street sweeping, coordinating an attack on Luska the giant octopus, et cetera), any Shodan may organize a team of Gokyu and/or consenting Shodan; The Shodan will serve as the team leader and the point of communication with other teams. This clause remains in effect even if the Shodan's team has members who are not affiliated with Urban Bushido.

Hachidan
• If the Hachidan determines that a Shodan's decision was in error, then the Hachidan may overrule the Shodan's decision.
• The Hachidan may judge prospective Heroes and--if the Hachidan judges them worthy--may invite the Heroes to Urban Bushido, in compliance with guidelines.
• If a Gokyu meets or exceeds all standards for Shodan rank, the Hachidan may promote the Gokyu to Shodan rank. It is solely the Hachidan's decision if the Gokyu's powers and uniform are acceptable for the promotion.
• Similarly, if a Shodan meets or exceeds all standards for Hachidan rank, the Hachidan may promote the Shodan to Hachidan rank. It is solely the Hachidan's decision if the Shodan's powers and achievements are acceptable for the promotion.
• The Hachidan may take part in any council to vote on anything, including major implementations or amendments which alter the status or mission of Urban Bushido, either in-game or out-of-game.
• The Hachidan may assign punitive action to any Gokyu or Shodan who is found acting in violation of Urban Bushido standards, as detailed above. In addition, a Hachidan who transgresses may be assigned punitive action by the unanimous judgement of two or more Hachidan...though a debate or an attempt at resolution should ideally precede such measures.
• The Hachidan may assume a sensei role for "public training sessions" and similar gatherings, and may organize such gatherings. The Hachidan is also permitted to end such gatherings at will, though the Hachidan is expected to explain his/her decision to those involved with the gathering.
• The Hachidan may settle grievances among Gokyu and/or Shodan, as detailed above.
• In an all-Urban Bushido team, the Hachidan is expected to lead the team, as detailed above.
• In any unusual event where two or more Urban Bushido teams must coordinate with each other, any Hachidan may organize a team of Gokyu, Shodan and/or consenting Hachidan, as detailed above.

Did I miss anything? Amendments to this list may be added as I or the majority see fit. Let me know what works, people. We'll make it happen.

[This topic has been reiterated here for the sake of reference. Ignore the previous appearance of this topic.]

The story about Urban Bushido

Urban Bushido is a superhero coalition of martial arts stylists who (at least in a roleplaying perspective) dedicate their lives to protecting the innocents who live in crime zones and similarly afflicted urban areas. True to the "teach a man to fish" philosophy, Urban Bushido teaches an amalgam of martial arts, commando training, street fighting, street smarts and crime prevention techniques to the residents of King's Row and other "inner city" regions of Paragon City, specializing in instilling confidence in children and teenagers by the Way of the Warrior--the better to keep the youths out of street gangs--as well as instructing women's self-defense courses. In this capacity, Urban Bushido not only teaches self-defense to civilians and superheroes but also attempts to guide these pupils towards a state of peace, honor and confidence which can only come through mastery of the Bushido way.

Eligibility
Urban Bushido presently exists as a supergroup whose membership is limited to certain types of Scrappers and Tankers in regards to their attack powers, as detailed below:

Scrappers
Martial Arts
Katana
Broadsword
Claws
Dark Melee (with Hachidan approval; If a Hachidan is unavailable, a Shodan may make the decision instead; The Shodan is expected to inform a Hachidan of his or her decision afterwards.)

Tankers
Super Strength
Battle Axe
War Mace

Origin is not factored into membership in Urban Bushido. Where one comes from is not as important as where one is going. How one was empowered is not as important as what one has learned.

Advancement in rank
The three ranks in Urban Bushido are as follows:

Gokyu -- This is the "white belt" rank. Anyone can join Urban Bushido at this rank, as the Gokyu rank represents the pupils who have trained with Urban Bushido on the streets and have proven worthy of being welcomed into Urban Bushido's ranks. The preferred method of determining an applicant's worth is through accompanying a member of Shodan or Hachidan rank through a minimum of two missions; If the applicant's performance and personal conduct in those missions prove to be acceptable, then the applicant becomes a member of Gokyu rank.

Shodan -- A Gokyu may be promoted to Shodan rank by a Hachidan only if the following conditions are met:
1] For Scrappers, the Gokyu must have at least four powers from his/her Primary set and two powers from his/her Secondary set. For Tankers--in regard to the Secondary status of their attack powers--the Gokyu must have at least three powers in his/her Primary and three in his/her Secondary. This represents the student's martial prowess and "street experience" with what he/she has learned.
2] The Gokyu must have a costume which follows the Urban Bushido dress code (as seen below).

Hachidan -- Only a Hachidan has the power to promote a Shodan to Hachidan. This responsibility and its use lie solely at the Hachidan's feet, but some suggested guidelines for his/her decision are as follows:
1] The Shodan must have a combined total of ten powers between the Primary and Secondary sets.
2] The Shodan must have a Security Level no lower than 30.
3] The Shodan must have made a substantial contribution to the Urban Bushido mission, or he/she must have achieved a great accomplishment which will bring honor and prestige to Urban Bushido (Hachidan's discretion).

Supergroup colors
Black and green. Black should be applied to the majority of the costume, while green should be reserved for the details.

Dress code
Part of the standards for achieving Shodan rank is to encourage each Urban Bushido member to devote one of his/her costume slots to the Urban Bushido uniform: A gi--or warrior's garment--which is constructed as follows:

Chest:
Baggy -> Baggy 2 (the choice with the three seams running down the middle of the chest). This garment should be colored black, via your Supergroup settings.

Alternately, certain Heroes with certain styles or practices (including wrestling, boxing, muay thai or plain old bodybuilding) can go with the "skins" option, either Upper Body -> Tights -> Bare Skin (bare torsos, for men) or Upper Body -> Top with Skin -> Top 9 (sports brassieres, for women).

Belt:
Martial Arts. Be sure to designate the belt's color as green in your Supergroup settings.

Legs:
Tucked In -> Baggy 1 (the choice with no pockets). This garment should be colored black, via your Supergroup settings.

Hands
Smooth -> Wrapped
-or-
Smooth -> Bare Hands

Feet
Flat -> Wrapped
-or-
Flat -> Bare Feet

The choices for hands and feet may be mixed but ideally should match (ie. wrapped gloves to wrapped boots, or bare hands to bare feet). The gi should look similar to this (with the "wrapped" options):
http://img234.exs.cx/img234/8060/BushidoGiWrap.jpg

...or to this (with the "bare" options):
http://img234.exs.cx/img234/6826/BushidoGiBare.jpg

Supergroup meetings
If possible, Urban Bushido meetings will take place in public settings, under the scenario of an open martial arts training session; Be sure to familiarize yourself with your emotes, particularly "warm up", "jumping jacks", "kneel", "bow" and "yoga". All Shodan and Hachidan in attendance are expected to arrive in their Urban Bushido uniform for these sessions. Roleplaying is strongly encouraged at these times.

Decision policy
Suggestions intended to improve Urban Bushido and its experience are freely welcomed from all members, regardless of rank; A majority approval from the supergroup's standing Shodan and Hachidan membership will be sufficient grounds for implementation of that suggestion. Once implemented, only a majority disapproval among the Hachidan members will be sufficient cause to have the suggestion voided or removed.

Decisions which radically alter the direction or mission statement of Urban Bushido--or which drastically alter the supergroup as a whole--may only be implemented by unanimous agreement from the entirety of the Hachidan membership.

I will post additional guidelines, discussions or recommendations for Urban Bushido as needs demand. Feel free to post below, whether you are a member of Urban Bushido or not. All suggestions will be read, considered without prejudice and openly fielded for approval or dismissal.

Thank you.

don't be, i just asked Xan if we could get an update in this thread as to wether or not we're getting a SG forum section instead of threads in the recruitment center.

I know Xan likes to put the work off on me, but as far as I know, I don't have the rights to create new forums (I had to pester him, too, to get the smiley rights). So he has to do it. I'll look into it again though, okay? If I find out how it works, you will see the new forums. If not, Xan will have to create them.
