Saw it today...what the hell? First off half of it was referrencing a TNG episode (and not a great one at that) and the rest...blech. Sorry, was a fan at the start of the series..hate to see it tank this badly at the end.

for those of us not watching it (for the past 3 1/2 seasons) - how did it end?

obvious spoiler below...
Synopsis: "Six years in the future, an emotional Archer and the crew return to Earth to face the decommission of Enterprise and signing of the Federation charter, ratifying the newly-formed alliance of planets they helped forge, but first the officers must mount a daring, dangerous rescue to save Andorian Commander Sharan's kidnapped daughter. Meanwhile, far in the future, Troi suggests that Riker use a Holodeck recreation of this moment in 'Star Trek' history to search for some command insights."

The episode is shown from Riker's point of view, as he checks out that moment in history in the holodeck, to help him make a decision with his own problems.
I thought it was original.
It gave away alot of trivia about the characters and overall id consider it an apt ending for a series.
I just wish they had shown the speech. :p
Im personally a big fan of the first and second season, in fact i plan on getting them on dvd. The third one was a little meh, it had its moments, but i was mostly disappointed with the bad acting and needless drama. At first, the fourth seemed like a catastrophy, but to my surprise, it didnt go downhill.
For instance, Terra Prime had some really good acting that you dont normally see in a show like star trek.
Btw, even if you read the spoiler for the final episode, dont worry. Youre still in for a surprise. ;)

Oh geez, i hope i didnt kill it? We dont talk about star trek nearly enough.
I guess this would be a good time to evaluate the series as a whole.
What do you guys think about it? Did the whole prequel idea turn out well in your opinion?

YOU KILLED IT!! ;)..I liked it for the first little bit..though IMO opinion UPN wanted more action along with T&A and that seemed to send it in a downwards spiral. Well...that & the borg episode :P.

I liked the show. Not my favorite series (TNG for life! :D), but I usually watched it whenever it came on.

I couldn't watch it. Had some good episodes, but overall it did nothing for me except annoy me. The idea of Trek prequel was fine and all, but one featuring an Enterprise that's never been mentioned, at all, just created too many plot holes. If it had been some other ship, great, good on yer. Good writing might've helped too.

I'm really disappointed in Enterprise ending so early. This season has been the best so far and has really come into its own with quality plots. Imo, it takes a few seasons for any trek series to find its footing and develop its nitche. Paramount was just not willing to wait.
To start I think it was a a good ending to the Trek series as a whole. And thats what I think they tried to do. The fans and the writers realized that this wasn't just the end of a Prequal but end of 17 years of continuous Star Trek. Intergrate the two shows with a flag ship Enterprise (even Kirk at the last sec then, which I think was a bad idea by wrecking the flow). I think a big problem is that Pegasus is not a well known episode of Next Gen and only fan boys would understand what was going on (old uniforms, why Rikers have a delema, etc). Pegasus, is one of my favorite by the way, the whole clash of duty/honor while showing how much Riker had changed over 7 years under Picard. Like Sheldon said, quite an original episode (certainly unique even to the Trek world) and I applode the effort.
That said, I think it was one of the worse episodes of the season. The two plots were not captavating and I feel put favortism on Next Gen. This was Enterprise's last moments and there last moment to shine. This episode didn't much carry the same finality or emotional weight, if you will, of other last shows. DS9 still brings a tear to my eye (they killed Sisko and spread the crew to the wind, never to return) but this was like meh (could be the accleration of 7 years and the crew looks ready to retire). Not even having Archer's final speech was a real let down. Still, these are small qualms and how Trip died is perhaps one of the most noble deaths in trek (certainly better than some females that will go nameless). I liked. I enjoyed it. I was sad to see it go.
Finally, I'm a consiracy nut. I feel this is not the true intended end of Enterprise, that there is a secretive 5 season just wanting to be made. If you look at the rest of the season, every thing is building to something. The mystery figure on Vulcan. A six episode story with Eugenics (the last episode with Klingons even leaves us on friendly terms). A five parter for the Federation, which was ment for military and economic security. Yet the most key detail of the founding of the Federation is not present: namely the Romulan War. It has always been my impression that the Federation was formed as a scared alliance after a devistating, nuclear war between Earth and the Romulans. This final episode only proves it to me further. Story wise it just feels some what thrown together, a quick cameo for sweeps and not the end of a series. Now yes, they use the excuse of the Zindi and the Romulans did play a part, but I feel it was not nearly enough. I truely feel season 5 was ment to be the Romulan War. It even matchs with the Star Trek Timeline!
Ok, I'm done. Bye Trek. Its been fun. You will be missed.

Of all the Star Treks, my favorite will always be DS9 which IMHO never quite was ended at the end.
For example, lot of plot holes still remain from it even though it was great. They had the Dominion Wars but did anyone wonder why the Borg never attacked during those wars? TNG had episodes with the Borg (Locutus).
Lot of storylines never got followed up in DS9, but the point is that it had the opportunity more than the others to keep going. Guess they had too many stories to tell.
Wasn't just Bajorans and Cardassians or the Dominion. Stories still existed with Worf and the Klingons. The Ferengi with Quark's brother given the control of the Ferengis could've also led to more stories. Even TNG crew was there but given a snippet on the series. I really wanted to see Odo or any of the Founders meet up with a Borg.
They just had a bigger door than the other series.
