...twins...white boy...black girl...twins...sister...different race...what the...genes...genetics...twins....

(RL- Intervention) In Great Britain, there was a biracial couple (both parents are biracial themselves) that they had two twin girls. One black and One white. It was in a couple of magazines. :)

Identical Twins mean that they were both born from one egg. It does seem highly unlikely to me, however, that identical twins would have different skin tones.

You got a link to any articles on that SK?

Chris

Yes Sir! (http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1355/is_12_109/ai_n16346229)

Also moving our discussion to the Debate Forums in it's fresh thread.

Well, it actually says in the article they were born of two eggs, fertilized at the same time. So no, they aren't Identical Twins.

OTOH, Identical Twins are just rarer than "normal" twins anyway. So the girls ARE twins, and probably as identical as two people who share the same father and mother can be. Which is pretty identical. :D

[edit] Heck, considering the "million to one odds" calculated in the article MR linked to, those two kids are MUCH rarer than identical twins. :D

Here's another article I found. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=377839&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770&ct=5&expand=true)

It has pictures. :)

Ahh, still pretty cool though. I will say this, forgive my post splicing. I was rushing to get off work. :)

No problem. Like I said in the original thread, it MIGHT be possible for them to be identical, but very very unlikely. It would have to be something like the black girl's eyes turning from blue to brown. Obviously she inherited SOME of the recessive genes, but there was something environmental (possibly just the different genes of the rest of her body) that caused the dominant gene to activate.

Posting the link to the story, though, confirms it. They came from two different eggs, so we don't really have to speculate, it makes perfect sense.
