The Widowed

http://coh.tritonius.com/bw.gif With all of the tech salvage easily accessible thanks to the new storage racks, I started identifying good items for us to have and I welded together a number of materials and power supplies. And these new empowerment stations have truly proven their worth, divesting us of the irritating need to switch out among the six varieties of forges and worktables just to fabricate the specific components we need for our latest project.
So...what shall we build next?
Points to consider:
1) We are close to completing a new Mega Monitor, which stands to give us a mountain of control over our base's functions...useful, since placing an expert forge or worktable in our workshop presently puts us right at the control limit and threatens to cripple the base if we so much as install a garage door opener. We have all of the first-tier components that we need but none of the second-tier components, which is to say that we have all twelve Materials and all six Powers to construct the Mega Monitor, but none of the three Hardwares and none of the one Software we need. The Mega Monitor can be built with the expert worktable.
2) With that same pile of twelve Materials, we are also about halfway to building a new Linear Accelerator, which requires twelve Materials and thirty-six Powers; At present, we have twelve Powers. A Linear Accelerator would be incredibly useful in the event that our base were ever raided...by, for example, USS members who were slightly annoyed over us raiding their base previously. Like the Empowerment Stations, the Linear Accelerator consumes a small number of components in exchange for temporary buffs; However, buffs from Empowerment Stations only last 15 minutes and cannot be cancelled by holds and the like, while buffs from a Linear Accelerator are similar but promise to last for much longer; Specifically how long that duration may be is not listed, but for 12 Material and 36 Power it had better be something special. A buff which lasts an hour or so could even have far more practical applications and could provide advantages over those pesky Heroes and Archvillains you encounter in certain missions. When we first got our Empowerment Stations, I myself tried a Flight Speed doodad. Those fifteen minutes of zipping around the base and the surrounding neighborhood at breakneck speed were far out, let me tell you.
3) I'm presently saving up Arcane components for the possibility of building an Arcane Crucible. Arcane Crucibles serve the same function as Linear Accelerators, save that they eat Arcane components instead of Tech components.
4) I could be wrong (if the catalog is misleading me or I'm not reading it right), but it could be that Linear Accelerators are built by Tech Empowerment Stations yet replace Tech Empowerment Stations, just as it looks like Arcane Crucibles could replace the Arcane Empowerment Stations which created them. Hence, we could sell back both Empowerment Stations upon building the Accelerator and the Crucible and get our investments back ((30,000 Prestige total)). But don't quote me on that.
5) Empowerment Stations eat zero energy and zero control. The same apparently applies to their more efficient descendants.
6) Wouldn't it be nice if we got a vault and an Item of Power before we got into some serious base-looting? Just entertaining a fancy here. I hear those things are really good.
Now grab your #2 pencils, class.
