In general, the fantasy genre really doesn't interest me that much. But this looks different. A lot of the things they're doing seem to be right along the lines of what I've thought an MMO should move towards: instanced dungeons in favor of sprawling static landscapes, XP for missions (quests) instead of killing monsters, less reliance on healing, etc.
Anyone else interested in this. (I know MikeKay is. He seems to be keeping tabs on any and every MMO.)

Yes, but only if I can prestige class into Dread Pirate.

Yep, I'm keeping track of it (and just about everything else, yes I'm a junkie :P). I lurk on their forum from time to time and I signed up for Testing (Alpha if I am not mistaken.) Personally it struck me as taking a course rather similar to City of Heroes which IMO is a good thing. Taking into considerations Eberron this could shape up into a very good game
(Didn't I make a thread about this months ago on PC.com?)

Ah the sweet sounds of rolling dice...I will likely play this unless it completely bites. Squire! Bring me my Holy Avenger! There is evil afoot!

All i can say is, the graphics look fantastic (a healthy mix between wow and eq2).
The game does look intriguing. Cant say im seriously interested in it, but who knows. You could say D&DO is its own grandpa, so it might be fun to see how things turn out.
IMO the thing that will make/break this game is diversity. Will the characters be highly customizable, how many classes will there be, and the like.

I'm registered at the forum as Poison, been waiting for beta (come on, nobody wants to alpha test :p ). Half-Life has been eagerly awaiting it as well, as is Fate.

I hope their character customisation tool isn't boring and static, because that would suck. I wanna play me some Fantasy, yo.

Although I'm sure D&DO will be good, I have zero interest in it. After years of playing EQ and months of playing EQ2, I'm officially done with fantasy-themed MMORPGs. :shinner:
