It is rather late, and I don't feel like typing up a large, extensive review...I feel like buying SO's for Walrus. Overall, this was a great movie. Here my small list of reasons for you to see it, or not see it.

Go See It If:
You liked the book
You like epics
You like plot twists
You like Sir Ian McKellan(sp?) aka Gandolf, aka Magneto
You have no problem hearing a fictional idea of a secret of Christianity.
You like a lil Alfred Molina in your movies.
You liked National Treasure(it's basic layout anyways..that movie wasn't very good)
You like treasure hunts.
You like Jean Reno.

DON'T Go See It If:
You can't sit through a 3 hour movie.
You really, really, really, obsessively love Tom Hanks. Not at his best, I'd say.
Trying to figure out who the bad guys are hurts your brain.
You hate subtitles...not many, but some.
You hate accents.
You REALLY hate French accents. Or France in general.
You think this is taking stabs at your religion.
You don't want to know the TRUTH! :chuckle:

This movie was great, and I loved it. I just ate too much popcorn and got really gassy and was in the complete center of the theater about to explode. The funniest thing about the trailers is, both the Da Vinci Code trailer and the new X3 trailer features Ian McKellan saying, "There is a war going..." and "Which side are you on?".

Yeah, I saw it. I liked it. T'was good. And Alfred Molina kicks ass.

Oh, also...

I saw the trailer for The Omen, coming June 6th. Yeah, 6/6/06. Some movie about the son of the devil. Looked bad earlier, but wow, this trailer really got me interested.

The Casino Royale(new James Bond movie) trailer was very breathtaking and action packed, but damn, this guy is not pretty enough in my book to be Bond. He looks rather beat up in the face. But he seems very "stone cold killa Bond", as I like to say, and looks to be alot like the Timothy Dalton and literary Bonds, which I enjoyed.

There was a trailer for The Lake House, which should be called, "You've Got Mail To The Future". Something about Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock being romantic pen pals, but Keanu being 2 years in the past or something. I stopped giving it full attention when I heard some really offensive language in the trailer..."Starring Keanu Reeves..."

And the rest were commercials. Loooong commercials.

Meltman

I didn't get the Keanu one...I forget what the 3rd trailer was.

Supposedly the new 9/11 movie was supposed to have a trailer infront of the movie, so maybe that's just what our respecitve areas replaced it with?

EDIT: By the way, it was 3 hours long? I didn't even notice...

EDIT: By the way, it was 3 hours long? I didn't even notice...

I only noticed because I had to let out some serious gas and didn't want to do it right in the middle of my two friends, girlfriend, and a ton of movie-goers...and because my girlfriend can't sit still through movies that long and kept telling me what time it was.

I'm gonna type this spoiler in black, so scroll over it if you don't mind. It's just kind of my opinion on the ending...

I know it's not possible, but I would've stood up and cheered if Tom Hanks teamed up with Ian McKellan, exposed The Church as liars, and put them into a huge crisis of faith.

Yeah. Really bad. I thought my bowels were going to erupt. I had a can of beans for lunch and a bunch of popcorn and a big ass Mellow Yellow that was about all I had consumed that day.

Somewhat agreed with the spoiler...doesn't really fit the main character though. Read "Angels & Demons" to get a better idea, also a better book by Dan Brown IMO.

It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it was just long.

It did mirror the book pretty well, but seeing it on the screen really showed how little personality the character Robert Langdon actually possess.

Too bad that a relatively big portion of the so called facts in the movie and book are not entirely true, the main problem being that the Priory of Sion is a hoax from 1956 by a known anti-semitist, Pierre Plantard. He even flatout admitted later on that he had written the Dossiers Secrets under influence of LSD. Most of it though has shreds of truth that was then distorted.

You know this is a remake of an old classic right? It's like saying that a movie called the Exorsist is coming out that's about some girl being possessed :D

I am completely uninterested in seeing the Davinci Code. Don't know why, just have no urge to see it.

And yea, thought they had already made The Omen.

Laurentide

Which is too bad, because I love that name and I'd totally want to name my kid that.

Then again, it probably doesn't help that my next favorite names are Cain and Seth.

You don't know the real assinine crap they've done with this movie. They say it's update to 'modern' tastes, I call it dumbing down to our moron society. They have James Bond drinking beer instead of martini's and they'll be playing Texas Hold 'Em and not Blackjack.

Stupid ass Hollywood, for every good movie you make, you $h!t out 10 bad ones.

You've never seen the Omen? Damn I feel old now. Go to the video store and rent it. You might have to dust off the VCR to watch it, but the original is very well worth it. We will see about the new one.

Seems if you make a remake of a classic horrow movie you must add 150% more blood and gore, and make sure all the women are super sexxy even if it doesn't fit the part. But we will hope they don't suck it.

I haven't watched the movie and I haven't read the book. I'm just tired of hearing all the stupid discussion about this movie and how it attacks christianism and Church. I'm just sick of it.

Anyway... That cheesy Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock movie is directed by an Argentinean Director called Alejandro Agreste. I have no idea how that guy got the opportunity to direct a hollywood movie. *shrugs*

Saw it. Liked it. I espeically enjoyed the puzzles. As for the whole Church issue, do they really think our faith is so weak that a small story like this will create a real crisis? Please.

I really can't decide if I liked it or not.. The story was awesome. I think I will definatly read the book. But the movie.. I was wanting it to end so badly. Felt like the ending was so long.

And I kept making sarcastic loud comments through various parts. The people around me were more interested in what I was saying then the movie

That James Bond movie looked sooo bad...

People need to stop being sheep and become shepards. Free thinking and Free will are not bad things. Most importantly, not all the pieces have to fit for you to understand the picture. If this is capable of destorying your entire view on Christ then you have a pretty weak viewpoint.

I'm really curious what Rotties take is on the movie. He seems to be the biggest Bible Thumper on these forums. I'm just interested in hearing all the opinions is all.

The "Christian Right" I think are responding this way because they feel it is a direct attack and responding in kind. Someone actually told me that he believes it to be the antichurch liberals response to the Passion. I think more than anything they are affraid of the message that is presented.
