The Rogue Isles Dispatch
May 9, 2006

In the Rogue Isles, a new creed of gifted individuals are rising within the shadows of the recently freed villains of Paragon City. Yes dressed with loyalty, pride, and a love for the Rogue Isles, this new generation of Rogue Islanders have grown accustomed to the fleeting tries to establish a government without corruption, of contractors taking advantage of the poorest of families, the constant wave of gang wars, and other atrocities seen throughout the years. They know the reality of the Isles, as many other generations have known in their times. But this doesn't stop them, in fact just the opposite.

New gangs of the Isles have been sprouting adorning pride and history as their basis for honor. Though still small, these native Islanders recall a time when pirates were the 'heroes' of their land, and some model their own such gangs after these pirates and their philosophy. Recently one of these small gangs was found out to have Ferdinand Maligne, a nephew of Nicolas Maligne (known more commonly as Lord Paragon). His group, newly registered as the Swindlers, has been spotted protecting citizens from the dangers of the Isles, all in the same time performing a heist at a Bank of the Isles location a block away. They trumpet perhaps a new era in the Isles, though they do show their roguish charms throughout the commercial districts of our Isles, though not without doing the same in Paragon City.

We recently got the opportunity to interview Ferdinand, or rather his callsign, Polyphemos (Ed: Ferdinand was born blind and requires a vision device that allows him to see in infrared). He showed a fair share of roguish charisma and ease for someone grown under the adoptive eyes of a 5th Council General.

Helen Thomason: Hello Ferdinand, I am very pleased to meet you. You're something of an idol to my children, and the whole staff of the Dispatch love what you've done.

Ferdinand Maligne: Hah, I'm honored, but before we go on, that pearl necklace does seem mighty nice... Mind if I take a look at it?

HT: Why sure, I don't see why not... While you examine my jewelry, would you mind a few questions?

FM: Sure thing *looking down examining the pearls*

HT: First off, why did you found the Swindlers to begin with?

FM: Ahh, goin' easy on me are yeh now? Simple enough, most of us are here are tired of hearing all this s***t about what our people have to suffer for. Now I don't mind Lord Recluse, but we gotta do something to cover our a***s, no? But that ain't enough... I mean if you're gonna be doing all this heroic stuff, might as well do a little raiding, eh? Plus us islanders are sitting on what used to be a huge pirate cove! Like h*ll I'm not gonna honor that tradition, yeh get me?

HT: Very interesting, so most of this is a pride induced activity?

FM: Heh sure, but I gotta admit myself, I love the free will of pirates. These guys were above the law, yet they had their own unwritten rules, or at least the ones that matter had 'em. What I mean to say is, no matter where I woulda gone, there would still be the Swindlers. Just I wouldn' have as good mates as a I do here.

HT: Tell me more about your companions.

FM: We run a pretty sweet deal here, all democratic everyone decides together what we're gonna do tonight. The media just picks on me cuz my uncle is crazy. But yeah, everybodies got a job, everyone unique, everyone pretty happy, what can I say...

HT: Usually groups registered under Lord Recluse's eyes are considered evil to some degree. Would you consider yourselves evil?

FM: Pshah, no. Would I consider ourselves good? No. We're just here to live our lives, save our a***s, and take whatever life throws our way. Or better yet, what we throw at life.

HT: I know we're running out of time, but one last question. What would you suggest to those wanting to hop aboard with the Swindlers?

FM: Heh, honestly I can say... People living in the Isles usually find some connections to us, but whateva. If people see me around, just tell them to give me a shout and a wave, or I may not know who's calling. *tapping his vision device* Now lady, it's been a pleasure but duty calls, and the jeweler is a fine day to visit today. *he gets up, and quickly leaves with two others by his side*

HT: ... my necklace!

And there you have it! Rogue Isles' up and coming icon, and a possible glimpse of a group to watch grow.

OOC:

Hey guys, it's my turn to make a specialty VG.

I've decided to create something similar to a rogue SG for the Isles complete with characters with full backgrounds. Also I'm enforcing unique and purity clause, IE set have to match with the secondary. No stalkers, nor masterminds since they don't fully fit in the vision of pirate-philosophicals with honor

6 Brutes, 5 Dominators, 7 Corruptors all in sets that compliment the other. I don't mind if they're not main chars, but primary alts at least, or as long as you RP with them (write a bio before admittance), come to Swindler Events with them, and unite as a group when possible

Sets taken and open:
Polyphemos Energy Blast/Kinetics Corruptor (@Atom Slash)
--- Ice Blast/Cold Domination Corruptor
--- Assault Rifle/Traps Corruptor
--- Fire Blast/Thermal Radiation Corruptor
--- Radiation Blast/Radiation Emission Corruptor
--- Dark Blast/Dark Miasma Corruptor
--- Sonic Blast/Sonic Resonance Corruptor

--- Plant Control/Thorny Assault Dominator
--- Fire Control/Fiery Assault Dominator
--- Ice Control/Icy Assault Dominator
--- Gravity Control/Energy Assault Dominator
--- Psychic Control/Psionic Assault Dominator

--- Dark Melee/Dark Armor
--- Energy Melee/Energy Armor
--- Super Strength/Invulnerability
--- Stone Melee/Stone Brute
--- Fiery Melee/Fiery Brute

Any takers?
