For anyone interested, AOL recently provided a direct link (http://progressive.stream.aol.com/aol/us/moviefone/movies/2005/chroniclesofnarniathelionthewitchandthewardrobethe _019417/chroniclesofnarniathelionthewitchandthewardrobethe _trlr_01_high_dl.mov) to the new trailer for the first Chronicles of Narnia movie, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." WETA, the outfit that did the effects and creatures for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, are doing the same for these movies, and it looks really good.

Doesn't look bad, I read the first 2 books and liked them.

I liked Narnia a lot in my younger days. Except the last couple books. So I'm looking forward to this. I used to watch the BBC show every day.

I own the the set of em (7 books in all), and I must say that The Lion, The Witch, and the Ward Robe is definately the best of the entire series. Although the Prince Caspian stories aren't half bad either. The last book was somewhat dissappointing though, at least in my opinion.

Interesting how both Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were good friends and yet how different their writing styles are.

I remember the cartoon movie, always found it kinda cheesy, but this looks pretty cool.

I liked the cartoon movie actually, it's actually what got me to read the entire series of books....I'm not much of a book reader, but I loved these stories, so I'm slightly...no, very hesitant, to see that Disney has produced these. Disney is known for the ruination of all their adaptations of some of the greatest "folk stories" known to man. I just hope if this a recreation of the entire stories that they follow them as they were written, with no silly changes.

There was a movie done with real people by a PBS station or something back in the 90's. It wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad either. I'm thinking that Disney should be able to do as well, at the very least. If anything the best thing will probably be the costumes done by WETA haha :P. But I do hope they have actors with a British Accent, because if they don't then it will automatically ruin it for me. All of the human characters who visited Narnia were Britain, so if they change that then it hits the ****s from the start. Pardon my french  :chuckle:.

Prepare for dissapointment, then. Dude, it's a movie adaptation of a book, OF COURSE there are going to be lots of "silly" changes.

A movie? Common they made a movie for each book. I think I have seen them all cept for the last one. The best movie would have to be either Prince Caspian or The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Awesome movies. :)

First off, I believe that J.R.R Tolkein was British... :shinner:

Secondly, the Chronicles of Narnia is a series of kids books, that started with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The series focuses on 4 kids that find a wardrobe that leads to another world, Narnia, and their adventures there. It's got magic, battles, knights, talking animals and evil villains. What more could you ask?

Sort of, except easy to read and decidedly lacking in tediousness.

Pirates? :hollis:

It's got pirates too. The third book, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (which is my favorite by the way), takes place almost entirely on a ship. In a way it's a lot like the voyages of Sinbad.

Purely for edification, here's the original 1988 TV movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094500/). I remember seeing this a long, long time ago and thinking it seemed short, which is odd now that I see the running time was a robust 177 minutes.

And guess what? They made (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096681/) sequels (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098912/)!

In regards to the new movie coming out in December, I'm looking forward to it. Looks rather nice so far. :)
