Howdy folks, i'm dusting the Mothballs off of Mikoto (my claws/regen scrapper) and was looking for some constructive advice (the statement Make her another type of scrapper is not consturctive advice)

I decided since she was only lvl 6 i'd just scrap her, and remake her (so i woulnd'r need 1235823498y6250 influence to make all the slider changes to her)

so any advice on power choices and such (especially the order to take powers and such)( would be most appreciated.

thanks!

Knowledge handed down to me by other, higher level Claws scrappers follows:

-Don't take Swipe. Animation is too long and damage is too low to justify its existence.

-I generally skip Reconstruction on my regens early since I believe adding an attack gives me more everyday benefit than a heal every now and then (which can easily be done with respites). I do plan to get it eventually but I've never gotten it as soon as it became available (at level 2, I think?)

-Decide your slotting strategy up front. I can tell you from experience that there are few things worse than a regen character with no slots in regen powers. But a balance has to be struck between quick recovery and the new fast healing as well as your attacks. I'm still finding that balance but for now, with my katana and claws scrappers, I've loaded up on the regen side with slots. My MA scrapper is heavily attack slotted and not nearly as durable.

-Get Dull Pain ASAP and give it 4 slots (which should make it perma with +3 SOs). Adding 40% hp apparently increases the amount of hp you regen per pulse, since regen is based on a fixed % of max health. I was told something about it helping against alpha strikes (which I learned is the bane of /regen).

All I can think of right now. Will add more as I think of 'em.

Couldn't tell you about Claws, but for the regen side of things: dont skip Reconstruction! That and Dull Pain will be your only regenerating powers until lvl 16, and you can respec out of Recon. around lvl 28 or so when you pick up Instant Healing. I haven't played with a low lvl regen since I#4 so I cant say how much the change to Fast Healing would help your combat survivability but with only TO or DO enhancements it's only going to help recovery between fights, not during fights.

Claws are pretty straightforward. Follow up's not really neccesary, as it's a fairly long animation. I like it, but the uberclaw people seem to be dismissive of it. Agree on skipping the first attack, which is silly looking, low damage and long animation.

Claws is one of the few scrapper choices I've never messed with so I can't give any advice there.

But as for Regen, personally I took both of the innates of the set and slotted them, especially Quick Recovery (which Azure has 6 slotted I believe). I mean, in this game you can never really have too much end ya know? Lots of good advice here in the thread. Personally I was never big on dull pain (as far as recharges) but after a bit of learning I found out that your healing rate is based on your hp (or something to that effect) so slotting dull pain for recharges will probably be better in the long run...but slotting it for health also heals you up (in case you aren't at full hp when you use it), so maybe a slot with healing wouldnt hurt it.

I'd also like to say to take recon. It's one of the few things that'll keep you from eatting dirt in the lower levels (which mine seemed to do a lot of compared to his SR partner). Also, with the new changes it won't hurt to pick up health and slot it a few times just to kind of give you a bit more healing.

I would slot followup with recharges, acc and to hit buff and use it like a perma buildup

My apologies to Maz and everyone in this thread. My current main is a level 18 MA/regen scrapper. Because of this thread, I decided to check out Reconstruction and OMG I'm a moron! I love it so much that I rerolled my claws scrapper on to Victory and took it at 2 with her as well (and, with the spines/regen scrapper I just made).

I cannot express how useful it's been to have what amounts to a free heal, on top of dull pain's effects and the regen on Integration. Now, don't get me wrong. It's a lot more painful going from 2-6 (since 4 always has Quick Recovery written all over it, for me) with just one attack. But it starts to become easier from 6 to 12. What I did with Swiftshrike is forgo a lesser travel power until 12 (Hasten) and in between, load up on attacks (in her case, only Storm Kick and Crane Kick with Dull Pain at 10). I haven't really slotted her attacks yet (TK/SK 2 slotted atm) since her concept is built around speed (of attack, of recovery, etc) so 6-slotting fast healing (which is very helpful, lemme tell ya) and quick recovery and hasten has taken priority.

But I highly recommend Reconstruction now and don't see myself respeccing out of it. There's nothing I see myself wanting that I can't get already, though if I decide to go into the fighting pool, that may change (but I can always ditch the combat jumping/super jump I had planned for those).

whew, since i just kinda came back to the boards, havent even played the game again yet, all i can remember about my claws/regen (lvl 25 i think) was that the AOE attack, spin i think, was too low of damage and not very effective(altho good for pissing off enemies if you the temp tank)

Reconstruction is da bomb, yo. I can honestly say it is the single greatest reason why I can solo as well as I do with my scrapper (though that may change somewhat as my levels get higher). Don't skip it. Take it early, use it often. ;)
