I've had a bad back from sitting in chairs I guess. Today It feels a lot worse and I was thinking about talking to a chiropracter.
Have any of you had any experiences, good or bad, with Chiropracters?

Good AND bad. The one I visit now is fortunately very good.
Find one who uses an activator punch (like mine), and who emphasizes getting the muscles to respond correctly, rather than manually going and popping your vertebrae. You can pop your neck or back all you like, but muscles have 'memory', and if you don't get them to hold the vertebrae in the right position you'll just get the same problem again in a few days.

So what do I ask for?
"Do you use an activator punch technique?"

If you're going through the phone book, then usually they'll say in their ad when they use one. If you're calling around, yeah, you can just ask them if they use an activator punch.
Check the site of the manufacturer (http://www.activator.com/) for more info, I think you can get a list of practitioners who use it there.

What'll do you about ten times as much good as going to one of these guys is to go to the gym and do some back exercises. Usually only takes a few weeks of conditioning.
edit: this is assuming the back pain is relatively minor.

Just excercise AFTER you get your spine put back in line, else that just compounds the situation.
I go to a chiropractor myself every couple of months or so.

Activator punches work on pressure points to release tension and allow the bones to return to their normal position, rather than trying to force the bones themselves back into proper orientation.
