And I thought getting tech support on my computer was a pain.

I've been following this since they did the first person... Actually since they put electrodes in a monkey’s brain and had him moving a robotic arm with his mind. Any who, its one of the most awesome things I've ever heard (along with some of the nanotech concepts). Can't wait till they go wireless. :D
Wonder how long it will be till the iPod is IN your head.

When I saw the design of the actual "eye", my first thought was the character Batuo in Ghost in the Shell, and his round artificial eyes.
Useless trivia: In the original novel Cyborg, on which the Six Million Dollar Man was based, his bionic eye could not actually see. Presumably, the writer believed that technology was impossible. Instead, it could take photographs, allowing Steve to act as a sort of hidden camera. The actual bionic eye with telescopic vision (which I thought was cool as all getout) was added for the TV show, and retroactively added back to the novels in later issues.

Did anyone else think of the tabletop rpg Shadowrun when they read the article?

I thought Bionic Man, myself. That, or Geordie's VISOR from Star Trek.

That's some cool stuff. Definitely a step in the right direction.
Though...what happens if you put the sunglasses on backwards? Eyes in the back of your head, maybe? ;)

I'm sure you could hold them out from your hand like a periscope or something. That would certainly be interesting. :D

"Well, my dear, your OS looks sexy tonight..."
And just think of the pickup lines.

Like I always say: Every year we get just a little bit closer to the cyberpunk future everyone's always writing about.

She should get a tracheotomy too and get one of those sexy "cancer kazoos".
"She's more machine, than woman now."

Hmm... I wonder if you could have nightvision and heatvision added as a bonus... Or prehaps actual X-Ray goggles.
